Makes me wish i still had mine. Exactly the same model but in red. Blown rotary so swapped to a 1690 Millington crossflow. Omg i miss the old girl now seeing this video.
I had a 76 RX4, 13B 5-Speed. Put in a stainless header and exhaust with a turbo (brand) muffler. It was really fast. Not 20B with a 6-speed fast but fast for a little street rocket and it launched with very little tire spin. I used to leave many V8 powered cars in the dust.
@lowstandards5269 Jay mad props on the build style 👌 The Rat/Retro Mod style is such a cool way of preserving the unique character of these of beauties while bringing them into the current day with new tech and parts that creates these slick rides. Loving the new vid brother. SA Gr8 M8 🚙💨 🤙😁

Looking forward to this build, can't wait to see the look of this thing. I'm no engineer, at 16:09 I would stich weld those factory brackets? both sides .
Speaking of heat shields, the later rx4 (and probably other models) had an "exhaust overheat" light on the dash, tied in with a thermostat that sat on the boot floor above the rear muffler. I also recall the boot of the rx4 having a layer of white asbestos-like matting between the metal of the boot floor and the boot PVC mat, also above where the rear muffler was.
I will know next week. I’ve gone for a real high quality T shirt so won’t be the cheapest sadly but I really would hate to sell them and see them faded and not fitting 6 months later.
The steering arm is original if it had the heat shield on it for the joint, a lot got ripped off or swapped out for 555 ones etc that didn’t have them. Totally agree on the steering boxes - what 86 bits do you use though? I was looking to use an mx5 rack in a 1300
What’s the situation for you guys there with regards to putting that car back on the road. Do you have some sort of test? In the U.K. we have the MOT test, although it is not obligatory for vehicles over 40 years old.
Jay, AE86 Steering box and front suspension? Is this a common upgrade? Like, is there a company that makes a kit that bolts in? I'm embarking on an RX3 Coupe restoration but I'm not keen the idea of running 1973 tech and components

Is there a reason why you didn't decide to use oval pipe for the exhaust under the car with it being so low thought oval might tuck up a bit better ?
For the 2” pipes we don’t have space anywhere so if it was oval it wouldn’t fit around the steering.
