    With the introduction of Black Bay, Tudor has successfully submitted yet another Black Bay model for tests to obtain a Master Chronometer certification, as part of a constant bid to improve the quality of its products. This is the third application of this standard to a watch in the Tudor collection, and a step towards a future where the entire collection is METAS certified.
    METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve. Its standards are incredibly high, starting with precision. In order to qualify, a watch must be able to function within a 5-second range of variation each day (0 +5), that is to say 5 seconds less than the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4 +6) carried out on a single movement and a second less than TUDOR's internal standard, which is applied to the brand's models with a Manufacture Calibre (-2 +4). The certification also guarantees the timekeeping accuracy of a watch subjected to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. Finally, it also guarantees that the waterproof capability claimed by the manufacturer conforms with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 22810:2010, as does the power reserve of each Master Chronometer watch. It should also be noted that two prerequisites are necessary before the certification can be obtained: Swiss manufacturing must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made, and the movement must be certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
    All the tests and prerequisites leading to the Master Chronometer certification, which the Black Bay has achieved, are summarised below:
     Swiss Made
     Certification by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC)
     Precision at two temperatures, in six different positions and at two different levels of power reserve: 100% and 33%
     Smooth functioning when exposed to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and precision following exposure
     Waterproof to 200m (660 ft) in accordance with ISO standard 22810:2010
     70-hour power reserve
    The Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, which powers the Black Bay, displays hour, minute and seconds functions. It offers the general look and feel of Tudor Manufacture Calibres with dedicated sun laser design and bears the Master Chronometer mention on its bridges, emphasising its distinctive performance. Its rotor is fashioned in tungsten monobloc and is openworked. It also features the distinctive laser radial grooving with sand-blasted details. Its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted and polished surfaces and laser decorations.
    Its build is designed to ensure robustness and precision. To do this, the variable inertia balance wheel is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with two-point anchoring. This system together with its non-magnetic silicon hairspring, means the Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U is able to function within a tolerance range of 5 seconds (0/+5) tested on a fully assembled watch.
    In its latest iteration, named Black Bay, the case keeps the original proportions of a 41mm in diameter case with a thinner profile. The unidirectional rotatable bezel offers very prehensible sides and its insert shows subtly curved numerals aligning with the outline of the outer ring. However, the aesthetic details don’t stop at case dimensions and bezel. The seconds hand recalls the look of the early diving watches of the brand with a lollipop design while the satin black dial is subtly radial-brushed for a very subtle shine under direct light. Ergonomics have evolved as well, with a redesigned crown, reminiscent of the curves found on the crowns of the brand's historical technical watches, that is set flush to the middle case band so that its tube is not visible.
    The Black Bay comes fitted with either an entirely satin-brushed three-link steel bracelet or a five-oval-shaped-link brushed and polished steel bracelet, both complete with the “T-fit” clasp equipped with a system for rapid length adjustment. Easy to use, requiring no tools and offering five positions, this practical system allows wearers to carry out a fine, instant adjustment of the total length of the bracelet along an adjustment window of 8mm. The clasp features ceramic ball bearings that ensure a smooth and secure closure in addition to adding a pleasing tactile element to the action of the clasp.
    A black rubber strap option is also available for the Black Bay. The strap comes in three sizes complete with Tudor “T-fit” clasp, and for the perfect fit, it is able to be cut down to the exact size of the wearer’s wrist. On the inside it features the signature snowflake motif for added grip, and it is form-fitted specifically for the Black Bay.

    They took a watch that had potential but was never quite right and made it literally perfect. Reduced slab sides and thickness to same spec as SMP300, reduced lug to lug , added T-fit clasp but kept that gorgeous gilt dial, no date. For me, this is literally the perfect diver, perfect size and just the right amount of vintage nostalgia. Absolute win.

      @@jeffreymorris6930 21mm is not ideal for many reasons for sure, mainly strap changing for me. And then they made the width of the center links off by 0.1 or 0.2mm so that I wouldn't be able to swap just the clasps! (I did a video on it if you want more info )

      Hi , just saw your message and I’m between buying the same version as I live near ocean and do want to buy the rubber bracelet with T-Fir my wrist size must be bit small 17,5 on summer maybe bit more ( I live in Algarve most time it’s very very hot 🥵) 39,40 plus Celsius, my first question how it is the rubber strap? Kind of “oyster flex “ with titanium cables or spring inside to give a good fit ( not like an regular rubber strap?) what do you think about this version compared with older model discontinued last year 2022 on a the leather strap? Do like the 5 links bracelet “ jubilee “ but not sure yet would like to have some opinions…. Please if you can ! 😊 plus are lume good for a almost 5 k watch?
      Last , do you recommend this model instead of Pelagos model ? I know the Pelagos it’s a more sporty design, always like the Tudor’s or an Omega Seamaster not big fan of Rolex very flashy plus that beautiful burgundy aluminium bezel looks awesome! Have myself few vintage ones do know they can scratch much easier all this said what’s your opinion my friend?
      Or Alex if you are reading the answers etc ? Would be great to have a good opinion about this awesome Tudor BB41 !
      All the best and waiting for your reply, kind regards from Algarve-Portugal!

      @@69fastfurious I'll do my best to answer below:
      Rubber strap - it feels great, feels expensive and honestly not far off the oyster flex. It would still feel appropriate if this watch was $10k. It’s been great in the hot weather so far. They cut it to fit you, just like the oyster flex.
      What do you think about this version compared with older model - I like the new movement, and it’s just a bit thinner. I also like the jubilee, but I want a Rolex GMT on the jubilee, so I wanted this watch on the rubber specifically. The old one is nice too, but the new one with the master chronometer movement is worth it to me.
      Is lume good for a almost 5 k watch? - Lume is excellent. My wife was surprised at how bright it was, after I spent some time out in the sun.
      Last , do you recommend this model instead of Pelagos model - Good question, I first found a 39mm Pelagos, I was excited and thought I would buy it. But after trying it on, I was disappointed. It’s just kinda boring. And no t-fit clasp on the rubber, it’s basic. No color, everything brushed. The red bezel makes the black bay special, and I’ve already had a person comment on it.
      Overall, I love the watch and I think it’s the best watch under 5k at the moment. It looks and feels expensive and has a super accurate movement. Well worth it.

    Thx for mentioning the dial size. I think it's one of the most overlooked detail of the watches appearance on the wrist. A perfectly sized watch (lug to lug wise for example) can appear tiny on the wrist just because of the small dial. For me personally the speedmaster and the submariner are good examples - the submariner even more.

    Great looking on jubilee and rubber but still way too thick. Tudor can make BB 54 with 11.20mm thickness, so why they can not use the same movement and make this watch under 12mm? If it was slimmer it would have been amazing proposition! Thank you for your video :)

      @Anonymouslyme1 Рік тому +2

      It’s thinner than an Omega Seamaster and just a whisker thicker than my 2019 Rolex Submariner, what do you expect for the money? It’s thicker than a black bay 54 because it is a METAS certified chronometer so built to a higher spec.

    • @dawidgregor6742
      @dawidgregor6742 Рік тому

      @@Anonymouslyme1 I have Seamaster ans Submariner. I barely wear Seamaster because it is too thick and the bracelet is chunky. Submariner is one of my fav watches and the thickness is 12,60mm so 1mm thinner than BB. It is not about METAS is it all about movement which is a different variation than used in BB 54. It is 1,5mm thicker. Before BB 41 was almost 15mm thick without METAS certification so certification has nothing to do with the thickness... Also it is vintage inspired watch so please look at vintage 3 hand watches and you will will see that they were all below 12mm... So if you want call it vintage inspired first thing to do is to make a watch slim :) But all in all it is great watch but only when you look at from the front :)

    Kind of bummed they made the rubber a separate model instead of just including it as an extra strap like the Pelagos 39. As it is, I'm tempted to get the jubilee version and see if I can buy a separate Oyster and rubber. Each have such a unique feel/look that it's almost like getting 3 watches in one.
