- On August 15, 2015, the 70th anniversary of VJ Day, the Patriot Guard Riders of New York were honored to present a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. To make this an even greater honor, we were accompanied and assisted by Dr Tom Smith, Sal Famularo and Francis "Dick" Varone, US Marine Corps veterans of WWII, participants in many battles in Pacific Theater of Operations, including the Battle of Iwo Jima.
I get goosebumps when I watch these videos! I say a pray and thank God for the Men and Women who gave all to keep our country free! These people are the true PATRIOTS! They deserve our respect and thanks every day! God Bless!
I have witness this ceremony five times, as a Ex Irish Vet with over 28 years service. Every time I am in awe, brilliant drills, uniforms fanatic, supreme. I have the honour to render my salute to these hero’s. Hallowed ground.
What a wonderful honor for some amazing veterans! Thank you for your service!
Tina Pickett it was indeed, and equally so for all their Patriot Guard friends in attendance. I’m happy to report that all three of our Iwo Jima survivors are alive and well, and remain active. You can check in on them at their Facebook page, Iwo Jima Survivors of New York’s Capital Region.
I'm sure it was. My dad is a WWII US Navy vet. He has been invited to the Honor Guard visits a couple of times, but we had taken him to the WWII Memorial as a family quite a few years ago while he was well enough to make the trip. He's still well, but not up to a trip like that any more. It was one of the most sobering trips I've ever had. We were fortunate enough to meet another Navy vet there who had served in the very same Pacific theater...it was an experience we'll never forget. The Vietnam vet who was helping to guard the memorial cried as he spoke to us. Thank you for your comments and I'll like that page right now!
As for me I had the privilege of witnessing two surviving soldiers from WWII! May GOD give peace to them and their fallen brothers!😢
How I wish to give them a handshake and salute them! T-T
What a wonderful video. I truly do appreciate them and ALL of those before. My Dad was a Marine on Okinawa and that is why this means so much to me. God bless.
Wow. Very moving. Thank you for posting this. God Bless the Sentinels and God Bless our Veterans.
Thank you all service men for your sacrifice. You are the REAL HEROES !🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏

Whats with the lady giving a kiss to every veteran passing by ?
I get what you’re saying. The only thing I can offer in the way of explanation is, she, as well as most of the people in attendance, was friends with all the Iwo Jima survivors there that day.
@@yingthings thank you!
How do you keep dry eyes during a ceremony like this?
Especially the honor guard, as they understand the importance of it
