    I've seen sun-dried tomato and basil-flavored ones at the grocery store and they always look really yummy, so I'm hoping to try more flavors with this☺ Hope everyone is well!

      I Love your channel. I went vegan a few years ago and I was seriously missing a lot of the foods I grew up eating with my dad's side of the family in NYC. When I realized I wouldn't be able to regularly enjoy tixing(?) again it made me very sad and your recipes make me happy and hopeful again 🧡. Thank you 🙏🏻

      @@gumpus5490I was the same way and am kind of in that predicament now that I'm trying to go more whole food plant based....it is an adjustment. There are things you have to give up tasting and eating. But the body changes and actually your tastes do as well. And it can sort of be a fun challenge to make foods that are better for you and the earth, but still have them be delicious and interesting. I always say it is the better chef that can make healthy food taste good❤

    One of my favorite food memories was an Iron Chef (original) with the theme ingredient was tofu and Morimoto took the time to made his own tofu and the announcer lost his mind! :)

      I would love more "basic/staple ingredient" themed restaurants. Like one named Soy or Rice or Wheat. And actually have the menu revolve around them. -- I guess a bit iron chef-y in that way. The original ones were crazy!!!

      Glad you enjoyed it❤ I had filmed a tofu sausage recipe (didn't edit yet because I didn't know if the recipe needed some fixing up first) but I kind of like this seasoned tofu so much better

    I usually do this when I make Burmese tofu it’s very delicious and we usually make it as a croquette

    Looks really delicious and satiating! Reminds me of Chinese steamed eggs. Thanks for the taste test commentary at the end!

      Yes!!! I have actually wanted to do Chinese steamed eggs but using tofu for a while!! Hmmm maybe I'll get to doing that. My mom used to put the dried scallops in and they were so good 😊

    You have the coolest gadgets! I know you’ve already made some, but a good gadget video would be cool just to refresh on what you use regularly and have found work really well. That $20 for 5lbs of soybeans is awesome and I’d love to do stuff with them if I knew where to start…. Soy milk maker is like goals right now.

      Heheheh I'm always up for a gadget video! (But you have no idea how many little knick knacks I have....my kitchen is a mess😂😂😂)

    I can see seaweed flavored tofu working as a good seafood substitute for things like vegan fishcakes/crabcakes.

    How have I never come across flavored tofu before?? This is amazing! Do you think the flavorings would get lost if you made fermented tofu? 👀

    Hi, if you use your soymilk machine. How is your ratio of dried beans to water? I remember you have the joyoung and it holds a max of 1 litre. Thank you so much!

    • @EastMeetsKitchen
      @EastMeetsKitchen  7 місяців тому

      Right so 1 liter is about 4 cups. So you would have to either make a smaller AMT of tofu (about half) or run the machine 2x. The thing with the joyoung is 1 of their "cups" is a half cup. So I would do half cup of dried beans and do the 1 liter setting ❤
