No joke, I'm one of those guys who grew up with the oldschool Paper Marios and SMRPG and loved them more than anything but didn't like the direction the series went in afterward, completely have avoided these 3 newer 'gimmicky' Paper Marios though color splash and especially Origami King have intrigued me with bits of their quality I've seen around... then I randomly got the Origami King theme in Tetris 99, which I play constantly... and it's immediately become my FAVORITE THEME in the game because this is the default song that plays up till 50 people have been eliminated, and it's some of the boppinest game music I've EVER heard, easily topping any Mario RPG battle theme ever before it IMO... and I've been so in love with the theme I'm about to actually buy this game and finally step foot into the world of the new PM series, as a grown man who's feeling his heart opening to it at last. And I feel like I'm gonna love it.
@hip indeed If you do decide to get this game, I think if you go into it without expecting it to be a classic Paper Mario makes it so much more enjoyable. This definitely isn’t a PM64 or TTYD but after I decided to give it a chance as its own game and stopped trying to compare them, I loved it for what it was. The music was top notch for me, I don’t think there was a track I didn’t like, the humor was cheesy and OTT but it just worked, and there were some unexpected surprises that were absolutely delightful. Additionally, if you like collectathons you will love this, but if not, it’s totally optional. I initially wasn’t a fan of the battle puzzles at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty fun. I personally thought it was one of the best Mario games recently and plan to replay it soon. This is also my default Tetris theme. Hope you enjoy it!

This one isnt bad but not my fav...that said im glad it can be someones as i never played this or color splash so i cant appreciate this theme as much as someone who has...i hope one day to be able to

@@FluffyroxGames Maybe its a old Paper Mario and thinks that the PM TTYD battle music is the best battle music from the PM franchise.
Say what you will about this game. It's kinda impossible to argue that this isn't a very unique battle system. As I've said before, combine; the level design of TTYD, the story of Super Paper Mario, the music of Sticker Star, the style of Colour Splash and this battle system and you'll have an amazing game.
Combat of TTYD expanded on, the story on the same scope as Super' and the level design and overworld progression of Origami King and you have the perfect package.

@@Surgemaster2012 one thing I've always wondered is why Nintendo has never done a gigantic Mario crossover with thier many IPs. No, not like Smash Bros but a proper RPG combining Mario and Luigi, vanilla platformer Mario and Paper Mario. As for villains; why not all of them? Fawful, the Shadow Queen, Dimentio, Cackletta, Antasma and the Shroobs. King Olly too but, given his redemption, perhaps on the heroic side. To be honest, I do wonder why Nintendo has never tried something like that before except maybe Paper Jam. From a business point of view, it'll make a shitton of money by combining fanbases and fan service is fine if the game is good. From a PR point of view, it'd be cool for fans to combine these many series together. My best guess as to why not is rights issues (given AlphaDream made Mario and Luigi and Intelligent Systems makes Paper Mario) but Nintendo owns the rights to the former after AlphaDream went under so that doesn't really make sense. Whether it's a lack of confidence in thier ability to do this or a lack of demand I dunno.
Honestly at this point I don't think Sticker Star even has best music going for it anymore. It's been blown out of the water by Origami King's music, at least IMO.

I've been trying to find out which Paper Mario battle theme is my favorite.... and its just impossible. All of the Paper Mario battle themes are great! If I had to rate the themes, this would be my rating.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. I'd be down for a Mario Kart track based on Origami King with a remix of this as the theme. You can't tell me that it doesn't feel like it belongs in Mario Kart (Atleast Mario Kart 8).
