Ford recommend replacing them, almost certainly due to thread locking compound on the original bolts. You might get away with fresh threadlock on the bolts, but a lot of replacement pad kits come with new bolts anyway.
It’s late reply but you do have to remove the cap so any air can be released, otherwise you’ll be pressuring the system and we removing the wind back tool it could bounce back
My brakes are slightly spongy after changing brake pads and are initial soft until I press the brakes a few times. I had to bleed the brakes for the caliper piston to reset.
It isn’t good practice to use copper grease on brake pads, as the grease will gradually dissolve and the copper particles will restrict movement of the pads. You should use high temperature grease.
Great how to video.. no extra chat, just focused on the task at hand.
Thanks!
This was an outstandingly detailed video. Love it.
Glad you liked it!
what tools and size of the tools are u using here?
Does it require bleeding the brake lines when fitting new pads or not?
There should be no need to bleed the hydraulic system after fitting new pads.
Good video. Just one query, why do you recommend replacing the guide pin bolts?

What do I need to look for on the brake pads to see if they require changing?
Great video! Just wondering do
You have to remove the brake fluid reservoir cap prior to doing this job or can it be left on?
I always leave it on

@@georgeburnett1863 so pump the pedal untill there is pressure then put the res cap back on?
Thank you... and we didn't have to listen to your life story either.
You're welcome
I then thought about my lil dog, he loves to chase rolling things like wheels..
Where to the axle stands go and where is the jacking point?
how important are the anti raddle clips?
Very important

I've done this and I didn't have new anti vibration clips so is that why I have a little clicking noise when driving now?
yes had same issue, worn shims
Very good thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thanks, spent $30 + $10 shipping/tax on a front brake pad kit instead of $400-800 at the mechanic shop.
Exactly done
why no copper grease to save brake squeal.
Some manufacturers recommend high temp grease, some prohibit its use.
What size are the bolts
Looking at the video, I'd say the bolt heads are 12 or 13mm

What if after u do all that the wheel don't turn even when the breaks arnt pressed? Bad caliper?
Could well be. Try to push the piston back into the caliper body. It should be a little stiff, but move smoothly.
