As an ex Muslim, I was used to saying "the problem is not religion but the people that follow and interpret them". Then I grew up and realized it was the complete other way around....

Happens every single time. A Muslim is put in a difficult position and their reflex is to say, "oh but Christianity is worse! Look at them! Don't look at us, look at them!". It's honestly pathetic. Happens ALL the time!!
It's what they've been taught to do. And been shown to work, even on a global scale.
How do authoritarian countries divert the attention of severe and constant human rights violations?
They come together to point the finger at imagined or barely factual claims against Western countries, or cherrypick some sort of (perceived) past misdeed. They claim victimhood, and appeal to revisionist historical narratives which generalises people and provides a good/bad viewpoint on complex and multifaceted matters.
Hence, "we've done something bad. We know we have, they know we have. They know we know. But we'll use shame and guilt to divert attention."
And it doesn't matter if it's correct or not. Because the very act of doing something like this, has people scrambling to deny any allegations, or bow down in shame, or try and explain the reality of the situation, etc.
Meanwhile, no answers have been given, no solutions, no punishments, and everything simply continues as it has always done.
From global level to the individual. This is a proven tactic for the immoral and the criminal, to evade judgement.
Nadir os the biggest offender of this.

CHAPTER 8 VERSE 65
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ حَرِّضِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى ٱلْقِتَالِ ۚ إِن يَكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَٰبِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا۟ مِا۟ئَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن يَكُن مِّنكُم مِّا۟ئَةٌ يَغْلِبُوٓا۟ أَلْفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ
Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.
CHAPTER 49 VERSE 12
بَلْ ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِيهِمْ أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَنَنتُمْ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا
"Nay, ye thought that the Messenger and the Believers would never return to their families; this seemed pleasing in your hearts, and ye conceived an evil thought, for ye are a people lost (in wickedness)."
But in reality he was ordered to forgive who doesn't try to kill him and Muslims
CHAPTER 60 VERSES 7_9
عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ ٱلَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُم مِّنْهُم مَّوَدَّةً ۚ وَٱللَّهُ قَدِيرٌ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
It may be that Allah will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For Allah has power (over all things); And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
لَّا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَٰتِلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ أَن تَبَرُّوهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ
Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.
إِنَّمَا يَنْهَىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ قَٰتَلُوكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ وَظَٰهَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ
Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.
CHAPTER 15 VERSE 85
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌ ۖ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.
CHAPTER 2 VERSE 256
لَآ إِكْرَاهَ فِى ٱلدِّينِ ۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشْدُ مِنَ ٱلْغَىِّ ۚ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسْتَمْسَكَ بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
CHAPTER 5 VERSE 34
وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِى۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.
GOD DOESN'T CHANGE HE'S WORD I HAVE ANOTHER VERSE FOR THAT.WE HAVE TO PARDON PEOPLES EVEN IN SEDITION.
CHAPTER 20 VERSES 95_98
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَٰسَٰمِرِىُّ
(Moses) said: "What then is thy case, O Samiri?"
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِى نَفْسِى
He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me."
قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۖ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ نَسْفًا
(Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!"
إِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا
But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge.

Only a human can change his mind. The concept of "abrogation" in the Quran is that Allah chose to reveal ayat that supersede earlier ayat in the same Quran. The central ayah that deals with abrogation is Surah 2:106:
Then all the earlier peaceful Meccan verses (Before Mohammed had an army) got Abrogated by the more violent Medinan verses when Mohammed had many more followers.
Quran (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." Not only does this verse establish that violence can be virtuous, but it also contradicts the myth that fighting is intended only in self-defense, since the audience was obviously not under attack at the time. From the Hadith, we know that this verse was narrated at a time that Muhammad was actually trying to motivate his people into raiding merchant caravans for loot.
Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help."
Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them." According to this verse, the best way of staying safe from Muslim violence at the time of Muhammad was to convert to Islam: prayer (salat) and the poor tax (zakat) are among the religion's Five Pillars. The popular claim that the Quran only inspires violence within the context of self-defense is seriously challenged by this passage as well, since the Muslims to whom it was written were obviously not under attack. Had they been, then there would have been no waiting period (earlier verses make it a duty for Muslims to fight in self-defense, even during the sacred months). The historical context is Mecca after the idolaters were subjugated by Muhammad and posed no threat. Once the Muslims had power, they violently evicted those unbelievers who would not convert.
[Note: The verse says to fight unbelievers "wherever you find them". Even if the context is a time of battle (which it was not) the reading appears to sanction attacks against those "unbelievers" who are not on the battlefield.
Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." "People of the Book" refers to Christians and Jews. According to this verse, they are to be violently subjugated, with the sole justification being their religious status. Verse 9:33 tells Muslims that Allah has instructed them to make Islam "superior over all religions." This chapter was one of the final "revelations" from Allah and it set in motion the tenacious military expansion, in which Muhammad's companions managed to conquer two-thirds of the Christian world in the next 100 years. Islam is intended to dominate all other people and faiths.
If the Quran is eternal, then please feel free to use the Quran only to explain why Allah, the perfect embodiment of truth, abrogated his own clear, perfect, immutable, inerrant Quran, and also put these violent verses into context.

Muslims, when confronted with the verses that order fighting, will usually tell you that these were only "for that time", and because "Muhammad was getting attacked". First, the Quran is supposed to contain eternal teachings (not just for the years when Muhammad was around) and these teachings are later explained by the tafsirs and found in Sharia - and they never say that they were meant only for that time - so, the Muslims contradict their own scholars whom they often tell us to consult. Second, if you look at how many battles and raids that Muslims under Muhammad were involved in (over 100), and how they behaved, it's very clear that almost none of them were defensive. Islam also expanded into numerous surrounding countries from India to Spain - that was not a "defensive" expansion! Muslim simply either do not know their history, or try to flip facts and if you have studied the history and point these things out, they'll just tell you that you have read the wrong sources, or misunderstood the sources.

Well maybe, depending on how much of the Quran was actually produced during Muhammads life. Early on the Quran was mostly about peace and tolerance. As time went on passages were written contradicting those earlier, more peacefull passages. And that tradition of abrogation is why Islam is clearly not a peaceful religion. It's kind of opposite of what we see in Christianity. Judaism was a violent warmongers religion (happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks after all), then the gospels teach of tolerance and slaves being obedient to their masters, turn the other cheak and whatnot.

1. Does the Quran actually say what it means? Apparently not, when the verses are violent then they are not clear and we must go to the non violent verses. Apparently Allah made the non violent verses clearer than the violent ones.
2. You actually need to have a war to have peace. Nadir made that point very well a few times. Silly me, I thought that if you are not fighting anybody, you are not at war with anyone.
3. Fighting a defensive war is also attacking the enemy in an offensive war. That way you are fighting the enemy over there and not have to fight them over here. Another Gem from Nadir Ahmed. Never occurred to Nadir that if you are not over there, then you stay home and not actually having to fight anyone.

Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for Allah loves those who do good;-

فَٱعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَٱصْفَحْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.

قَالَ فَٱذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥ ۖ وَٱنظُرْ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۖ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ نَسْفًا
(Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!"
إِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا
But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge.
CHAPTER 5 VERSE 34
وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِى۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.
CHAPTER 2 VERSE 256
لَآ إِكْرَاهَ فِى ٱلدِّينِ ۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشْدُ مِنَ ٱلْغَىِّ ۚ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱلطَّٰغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسْتَمْسَكَ بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
CHAPTER 36 VERSES 67_68
GOD PROMISE DISBELIEVERS LONG LIFE,BECAUSE HEREAFTER IS EVERYTHING.
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ
And if it had been Our Will, We could have transformed them (to remain) in their places; then should they have been unable to move about, nor could they have returned (after error)
وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
If We grant long life to any, We cause him to be reversed in nature: Will they not then understand?

Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee." "Surely," said the former, "Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous.
لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
"If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah, the cherisher of the worlds.
إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَن تَبُوٓأَ بِإِثْمِى وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as thine, for thou wilt be among the companions of the fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong."
فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.
فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّٰدِمِينَ
Then Allah sent a raven, who scratched the ground, to show him how to hide the shame of his brother. "Woe is me!" said he; "Was I not even able to be as this raven, and to hide the shame of my brother?" then he became full of regrets-
مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ
On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.
CHAPTER 10 VERSE 19
وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
Mankind was but one nation, but differed (later). Had it not been for a word that went forth before from thy Lord, their differences would have been settled between them

Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy, after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook, Till Allah accomplish His purpose; for Allah Hath power over all things.
CHAPTER 15 VERSE 85
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَءَاتِيَةٌ ۖ فَٱصْفَحِ ٱلصَّفْحَ ٱلْجَمِيلَ
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness.

Ar-Rum Verse 1 says all you need to know about how Muhammed, at least in the early years of the religion, favored the Eastern Roman Christians over the "fire worshiping" Persians. This is also because Khosroh, the Shah of Persia at the time, insulted Muhammad's envoys when they delivered the Aslim Taslam to his court. Meanwhile, Muhammed's letter to Heraclius not only refers to him saying " Peace be upon him, who follows the right path" (again this is likely earlier in Muhammed's time as a prophet, but a Sahih Al-Bukhari Book 1 Hadith 7 tells of Heraclius even accepting islam (immeasurable grain of salt here) but then pulling the first recorded 'it's just a prank bro' in islamic 'history'.
So, while Heraclius could be considered an apostate, even later Muslim works would consider Heraclius in more favorable terms than Khosroh. There's even a nasheed that reads; "We are the ones who built our fortresses with skulls, we drove Khosroh's women with our whips to the slave market." Onto the actual claim Nadir makes, that the muslim armies of the Rashidun Caliphate 'stopped a possible holocaust', it's based on a report that Heraclius REJECTED the recommendation of his brother to exterminate the Jews of Edessa. This is not to say Heraclius was a saint, nor is it to say that the Jewish grievences against Rome at the time were not very much reasonable. It's also worth noting the Jews of Edessa supported the Persians by revolting against the Roman Empire, due to persecution as a minority in the Levant (which was by that time a majority Christian land). What it does show, however, is that if Nadir really believes the Rashidun Caliph 'stopped a holocaust' in the Levant, it would mean all those Islamic writings in favor of Heraclius show them SUPPORTING THE PERPETRATOR OF A 'HOLOCAUST'. As a Muslim, he could not look at Heraclius, say he wanted to 'genocide the jews' and not then say all those islamic writings (INCLUDING THE QURAN) which favor Heraclius don't lead to that conclusion.
Sure, we can say Muhammed's view of Heraclius may have changed later in his life (which is a stretch given how much Heraclius is respected by Islamic historians and scholars), when he defined all Christians (with all Jews) as the worst of creation. But this is a moot point. Why? Because when the Rashidun Caliphate flooded mesopitamia and the levant, they left Heraclius' realm to Anatolia, while the entire Sassanid Empire was wiped out. That's already a pretty damning indication given what we know from earlier in this comment. It's also pretty obvious that the 'ummah in the Levant after the Rashidun conquest was weak, and that this more than anything else is the reason why the Muslims took a 'meh' approach to the Jews.
Yes, the Jews were welcome back to Jerusalem (which was made illegal by the Romans) and had many restrictions lifted so long as they paid jizya. But it should be clear that the Caliphate wasn't in any way genuinely interested in 'religious toleration' so much as building up the strength of the 'ummah, collecting the intellectual fruits of Christian and Jewish artisans and scholars under their protection, and then removing all those protections Christians and Jews enjoyed when the time was right (by persecution and genocide if they saw fit). All the while waiting for 'Isa (jihadi jesus) to come down and lead them in war against the Jews as pointed our in the debate. And if that doesn't sound believable, we only need look at how the Zoroastrians were treated in Persia to get an idea, never mind the various violent persecutions and suppression of Christians and Jews by Islamic powers over the proceeding centuries.
*tl;dr ) Nadir is not just false in his claim that the Rashidun Caliphate 'stopped a holocaust' by defeating the Romans, he's also failing to point out that by his own logic, Islamic scholars and Muhammed favored the supposedly genocidal Romans over the Persians who supported a Jewish revolt. His head is too far stuck up his own rear to think about that possibility.*

And, Ibn Taymiyyah is one of the most influential medieval writers in contemporary Sunni Islam.
There are many Sharia manuals and they all pretty much agree (Ijma, consensus of the scholars) on most issues.
