Great Videos, I have John Deere 310B Back Hoe. it start with no problem, it's seem to start to miss at 3/4 to full throttle and seem to be out of timing (white smoke). Not sure how it would have got out of time? As I started looking at items to cause poor running I found fuel oil in the crank case oil, did oil change and put new pick up pump on, old one would not prime with pump lever after changing fuel filter so I replace it. Check fuel flow from tank to pick up pump (Good) pick up pump to Injector pump (Good). bleed injector pump line and injectors. Temp on my exhaust seem to look good from front to rear. I do hear noise at the gear for the injector pump not sure what is excessive. Once in a while as I'm running it will loose all power and go right down to idle at full throttle. after shutting down and starting some times it will clear up and run up again. I was thinking on getting a timing window and set the timing advance, not sure if I'm going in the right directions. I have never used a timing window before and not sure what timing window to get or where to get one. in the timing window view does the timing mark float @ the degree line in the window or how do you know what degree it is at. Ohh i changed this engine, the markings have been removed . jasper refurbished this one at 1 time. what can i use? it runs well it could be fine tuned. thanks
Hi, Could you please tell me what the start of injection timing should be (in crank angle BTDC) for an IDI engine. What should should it be at fully retarded (low idle) and at max rpm. Thanks
compression stroke with push air out of injector hole -gotta remove injector OR remove valve cover if you want to watch for No Valve rock on compression Stroke
+Mohammed Shafiq In a nut shell. Remove any items (if any?) from around the rocker cover, undo the the fixings which you will see around the outside rim of the cover & then take it off. clean both faces of the joint, one side on the top of the engine & the other being on the cover itself making sure you take off any of the old gasket & then once you have two clean metal faces apply a new gasket with or without gasket sealant (though I do on both sides of the new gasket for good practice! ) then put back together & tighten the fixings/bolts down in a clockwise order only nipping them down on your fist way round to then go on & set them with a torq wrench if you have no experience!

No, the timing can differ, consult the engine manual for the spec.

how do you know if you are on tdc compression or tdc exhaust?

TDC at compression valves don't move. At exhaust the valves would be moving a little bit. Scavenging is happening.

Difference between Off and over the road diesel fuel
No big difference except DO NOT get caught using off-road ... on road. fines are steep. And on road is probably a bit cleaner to burn.
