- Mike and Alex take a break from albums this episode to talk about a band whose discography is 90 percent EPs. Luckily, the band is still amazing. The Minutemen, from San Pedro, CA, were one of the most interesting and unique punk bands during their short existence. The tragic death of singer/guitarist D. Boon put the kibosh on them, but bassist Mike Watt is still out there jamming econo. That last line will make more sense if you listen to the episode.

Love the MinuteMen, only reason I found your channel was searching hard for any content on YT plenty of tracks but nobody talking about them.
I came to them in the early 2000's because of Sublime Mentioning them...... that was a hell of a rabbit hole.
Mike Watt does have his own podcast.

Besides double nickels, i love paranoid time but as a band & musicians they progressed every record & love how a man starts fires & buzz or howl. I honestly love em all in different ways but those are my favorites...

I been a Minutemen fan most my life. Most unique hardcore band. Only truly weird thing about them is the bogus political stance they took...
Time and place....... being anti-conservative or liberal doesn't mean what it once did. Back then, conservatism didn't have a problem with censorship and wanted to lock everybody up for being on marijuana. Fuck that conservativeness, you can have it.

For California, that’s been normal for years…hell, didn’t Jello Biafra run for Mayor in San Francisco at one point? I’m not a liberal by any means, but I would have voted for him, especially back then. lol
