What a band! Tried to see them at Safari Sam's in Huntington back in 85', unfortunately got there late, small place, couldn't get in, hung out in the street listening. I don't really think I understood back then how good they were. Grew up listening to a lot of punk rock and they were completely different from they styles of any bands at that time. Double Nickels on the Dime - Masterpiece
You were lucky to have even been able to overhear them live. I was born 3 years after this so I had zero chances. Fortunately, I've seen Mike Watt live twice though.
I was there that night. We were still a bit drunk from seeing them earlier in the day In Pedro. They played at Angel's Gate. I helped George carry in some gear, but for some reason we left and didn't go in. I saw them the day prior too, at a noontime show at Cal State LB. What a great weekend.
jus' found this .... every time I find some old Minute Men footage 1) I feel grateful that I was able to see them many times -n- 2) I get kinda sad, cuz the words and music created by these guys was absolutely amazing ..... I REALLY miss D. Boone. 💎🌠

I'm really digging this performance of "King Of The Hill." With this audio quality the guitar part is emphasized in a way I haven't heard in other live versions and the album version.
Such a great band… I'm more than trying to make up for not seeing them live, by watching all of these great clips that you out there have been so kind as to post,,,
I need to be able to "LIKE" this more. The players are all amazing and the band was one of a kind. And here they are ripping through an epic setlist, at a friend's backyard party, months before D Boone's death.
So epic, so sad for those of us who know what lay in the very near future. This band was ready to EXPLODE at this point, but Dodge made garbage rear axels. Long live D. Boon.

This is like having Picasso painting faces at your kid's birthday party.
This is better than Picasso
A bit of irony in 58:06, Maybe Partying Will Help. I wonder what the band was thinking about this gig.
Love how vocals go through an Amp too...
This is one of the best and most accurate comments I have ever read.
Why the internet should exist, bravo uploader

Two years later and watching again because
Jesus Christ. He had less than seven months to live. And there he is, in your friend's mom's backyard. Shit. Wow.
jircitano524 Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of when I watched it. Very sad.
It's so sad to watch this but so lovely at the same time. Videos like this remind us why we love D. Mike, and Georgie.

Awesome!
0:24-0:35 You can hear the origins of what would become "What Is It?"
Some of their greatest instrumentals and some Creedence Clearwater Revival covers. And they are like a punk Grateful Dead at times!
I thought my birthday was cool when my mom made me a custom Pac-Man cake.
Brother Matt! Miss you bro! I was your Risty bartender…🥲
God I miss d.boon!💔
forever with you
ever without you
@@wa8d4g8i7 well put❤
And to this day there has been no band that even gets mentioned as minutemen-esque. Because there isn't one.
Parquet Courts reminds me of Minutemen a lot actually. See the song “Normalisation”
sick
23:59 - 24:09 D. plays a guitar variant in "The Glory of Man."
Too bad this wasn't filmed with a 35mm camera.
See Mike in Feb!
