MONICA: DIY art project request: "Woven" rope (large dia.) -- contrast is nice, mounted/framed somehow -- nice; For context: In the Southwest; Southern Utah, 100°F+ five months/year; 27-45°F winters We're in a "leg" of Southern California's Mojave Desert, 30 min from Nev., 15 min from Arizona; in Utah. I've a niche above my fireplace; home built in 1989 -- lots of 80's Art Deco details; a 12' tall, arched niche over the fireplace is one: I always wondered if there was SOMETHING(S) I could put into the niche, along it's back surface? SOMETHING to make it an interesting focal point; I also have these weird Art Deco "cornices" at the top of every wall, except the two regular ceiling-height bedrooms (8') -- Kitchen, dining, living room & master bedroom ceilings are high and slanted; lots of ledges, an architectural portal. Roof, outside: Terra cotta rounded half tile (Spanish Colonial Revival), white stucco. Anyway: The never-seen-before "cornices" are stepped. There's two of them, each has softened "90°" angles -- not angle-angled like traditional cornices. Imagine a 6x9 timber board, covered w drywall mud, textured w orange peel, all exactly like the walls. That larger "beam", at the seam where wall-meets-ceiling (where a cornice would go!) across the top. Butted up to THAT: A, smaller: 5x3" maybe, w the same rounded corner/edges -- everything mudded, orange peel textured, like walls. So the top "beam" sticks out about 2.5" MIRE, into the room, than the lower "beam". The topmost "beam" is the Big Brother, the "beam" butted right up to it, the Baby Brother. ??? HOW WOULD YOU PAINT the ceiling, walls, and those "cornices"???? When built, painted all one color. That's how it has remained. Can you think of a creative thing to do WITH THOSE DETAILS as-built ???
LOVED the entire season!!! It just kept getting better week after week! Plssss come back soon with another season!! Weekender is my most favourite part of Thursday morng!!! Awesome job!!!!
Monica you are so sweet and fun.....wonderful job and your ideas are fantastic....I did feel that these people were almost embarrassing to watch though and didn't even seem to care about anything....they were very boring ....was surprised to be honest and ruined the fun of it....that's just my opinion though
Monica! You're so adorable and super outgoing and friendly with everyone! I've loved everything and can't believe it's over. We're thinking about downsizing and renovating our own container home so if you could do more with small spaces that would be cool. Many building a Murphy bed or Platform bed with draws.
Monica, wish you read these posts..Granted you are up to almost 500,000. I am moving into a 2 Bedroom/2bathroom Condo with a nice lake view..but all the rooms need work, especially the kitchen and living room. Could use your help. Located in Charlotte, NC. Right in Lowe's backyard..We'll almost.
Don't use that flooring outside. I have it in my kitchen and if I have water standing, it separates. It also scratches. I like it, but its not 100% waterproof.
My backyard is simular to this one and I'm thinking of doing something just like this because of this video! I love it so much! Thank you for sharing! #HomeOwnerGoals
Oh my God thank you, thank you, thank you. I also live in Florida and I was looking to do something to my porch that made it feel like part of my house. I loved the floor. On my way to Lowe’s to pick up these tiles. The window frame effects is awesome. Even the swinging bench and wall art. Gosh I’m so excited and eager to start working in my back porch. Love your ideas. Keep up the good work. 👍
I remember seeing Monica in another show, Knockoff (I hope I got the name right) with her friend, her name escapes me. I was beyond psyched when I came across Lowe’s channel. Did I mention that Lowe’s is my favorite store. ❤️❤️❤️‼️‼️
Hi Lowes and Monica, I just discovered your channel. Watched everything in 3 days and I absolutely LOVE your makeovers. Monica, your eye for aesthetics is amazing. The makeovers are inspiring! I am a DIY enthusiast, I just wish we had a Lowes here where I can get all these nifty DIY stuff readily. Those peel off wall paper, vinyl snap together flooring, stick on backsplash etc ... I am just drooling over them and wished we had them here in Malaysia. I just poured my own concrete countertops, and had to make concrete the traditional way with cement, sand and gravel. No premixes here, just to quote you an example of how DIY unfriendly it is. I am very much looking forward to season 3! Keep up this great series!
How do you guys get so robust wood? Timber plants (industry) would be good, I suppose. Sisooo 🌲 Trees get old only after 60 years rotation but ready at 19-21 years old. Which plants do you use for hause construction?
I feel like they always paint/spray late. like stuff is on the wall and then they put down tape and paint instead of painting before and then painting the screw holes
I feel like it's because they don't have time to wait for the stain and paint to dry before mounting and working with it. It's not ideal but it saves on time
So sad that I have to wait months for season 3. I still haven't watched season 1, so I have that to watch. But wouldn't it have been better to put some type of padding under the vinyl. To make it softer when you walk.
this was definitely one of my favorites. So pretty! Loved the flooring. We've gotten so many ideas and inspiration from these shows. Would love to see some ideas for a townhome patio/backyard.
I loved the whole series. Too bad that it's over. I'd love to see more bathroom maker overs and master bedrooms. That floor is on my to do list I was going to go with a stick floor but this is better!! Can the floor be used in the bathroom? Have a beautiful summer Monica!! And the whole crew 💕😘🙏🏾
Season 2 is over.....but who knows where Monica and The Weekender crew will pop up next? Be sure to confirm any flooring you want to install in a bathroom is intended for use in a damp area.
This is my second time around watching this series. Next up is viewing Season 3 all over again (I did seasons 4, 1 and 2 over the last few days binge watching). Right now I'm trying to upgrade my outdoor front of the house curb appeal. I would love to see some shows just dedicated to that. It sounds simple enough - upgrade your mailbox, add shutters, add paint on your front door, maybe some flower boxes, upgrade your planting beds. But really, when faced with doing it all yourself it's overwhelming and paralyzing too. I also love seeing the kitchen redos on a budget. Honestly, how do you get a whole kitchen full of cabinets in orange 1970s oak painted in only a day or two at the most? I can't see it happening by myself, frankly.
I love the idea of putting up the "window frames" - they look add a classic and sophisticated touch and don't block the view. The vinyl plank flooring has come so far in just a few years, now you can get 100% water proof and that is great. It wears like iron and is great when you have pets/high traffic areas or areas that are going to get wet; had not thought about using it in a covered outdoor space but that really added a finishing touch.
Wow. This was an amazing transformation! The window treatments were super creative. Love your show. We have an office space in our home that is in desperate need of creative TLC. We would love to meet and work with you!
Hi Monique, I’m a big fan of your style. It’d be a dream for my family if you can help us with our new home that we’ll move to at the end of Jan 28th 2019. We got so many projects must be done: - Redo the kitchen - Redo 3 bathrooms - leaving room - and crazy cement painted red backyard. If you contact me ASAP, I’d hold off to the remodeling until we figure out a date when you can do it. PLEASE GET BACK TO US ASAP
All episodes were great but this one was nby far my favorite of the season! Being in S. Florida and seeing that outdoor space transformed as such is a total inspiration. I juast need to screen in the back yard to avoid these mosquitoes and enjoy the space. That table... Was WOW!!! Off to get the plans!
Now they just need to do something with that backyard. They're not done yet. Lol. Love the idea of what y'all did making those windows & curtains. Now it really looks like a sunroom cuz sunrooms technically have windows. Love the floors too. Don't really like the table or that rope project that much. But that's just my opinion. I have a more high-end modern/contemporary style.
The table was great! But living in Florida especially Miami where the hurricanes hit often I don’t know about that floor. Because it’s gonna be very slippery for those children.
Lowe's Home Improvement we enjoyed both of the episodes, the two kids and their parents. My girls have a small bedroom so the trundle bed build was an idea we've pondered
WHY would someone block in "windows" and make something to look out to a yard?? how about making the yard more interesting plantings and kid activities? The only part I liked was the flooring.
I like Monika, but this patio looks sad. In Florida I would imagine more color. There is no area for kids to play. The owner woman tried to be enthusiastic, but the guy didn’t like it.
I love you your expertise & how you make beautiful atmosphere in a very short time!! I love to know whether you come to San Diego Ca. ... so I can your help too. Please reply. Thank you
What a great solution for the floor! Hit the mark for functionality and aesthetics!
Sulema Rob hbb
I'm binge watching these videos years later because I just recently found them. Love everything that she does.
Love the rope art, Monica!! Perfect pillows to set that off. The table is fawesome!
Very cool! I have an affinity for older homes and love the Poppies wall in episode 6
Where's Jes !i haven't seen u girls since u left ur tv show.i miss u girls.
LIKED even before i watch the video!
love love love every episode of this seasons, so inspiring...
please make next seasons coming faster :D
This turned out looking awesome, but I wish you would of left the seating padding on the swing, looks a little less comfy now!
i can pick a favorite I love them all I wish you could weekend at my home
Sooo cool. Pls come to Copenhagen! 😉

If she can make these spaces awesome now I want to see how she has decorated her house/home
Do you have a link to the flooring?
Matt should talk more 😘😍
Monica, you have alway s amazed your viewers with your creative ideas. Most of your projects hit both functionality and aesthetic. Love the series
If she can make these spaces awesome in 2days now I want to know how her home looks like.
Jimena there’s an episode where she redoes her own bathroom. It wasn’t good...lol
@@MsIGetLotOfThat she had too much time
The host has some serious talent! My goodness! That turned out amazing!
Mark Humphreys we agree, Monica is a whirlwind of ideas.
she is fantastic watch her show called NOCK IT OFF before she did this weekender fantastically awsome
Matthew is awesome, too!
So many good tips; I'm learning a lot.
That’s beautiful! I love everything about this episode.
Adding the window frames to the screened in porch really made it look classy. Great idea.
Moo
How did they do it wasn't on the video
LOVED the entire season!!! It just kept getting better week after week! Plssss come back soon with another season!! Weekender is my most favourite part of Thursday morng!!! Awesome job!!!!
Akila Rajaraman yes we love her
Think I am going to make that table!!
Audrey K me too
these home owners had barely any personality it wasnt as fun watching them as the others but monica was brilliant as always
Eli Valentine everybody is different, have you thought about maybe they are camera shy?
Maybe they are shy ,, don't judge people
Maybe they're just exhausted from dealing with two 2 year old girls? Not a lot of energy?
I agree. I don't know how they were selected for the show. Usually to be in you must show energy and happiness:)
elliehs glad they’re not over the top uncomfortably positive
The flooring and the Farmhouse table combined with the window dressing make this space very high end.. Awesome job!!!
This couple shows no emotion they act like stoners the entire time
Monica you are so sweet and fun.....wonderful job and your ideas are fantastic....I did feel that these people were almost embarrassing to watch though and didn't even seem to care about anything....they were very boring ....was surprised to be honest and ruined the fun of it....that's just my opinion though
what is though mean??
Great outdoor space. Their family gatherings will be the talk of the town. Monica you rock!
Monica always has these simple projects that make surprisingly impactful changes that I really love. Another great episode. Thanks Weekender!
Monica! You're so adorable and super outgoing and friendly with everyone! I've loved everything and can't believe it's over. We're thinking about downsizing and renovating our own container home so if you could do more with small spaces that would be cool. Many building a Murphy bed or Platform bed with draws.
how can I get her to come and help me with my house? I just purchased one and I love everything she does
Where's the link to the products used? I need the exact color/brand for the vinyl flooring, please. Thanks.
matt is a cool dude
ahmad thanks
I love that space Wow, you know what would be helpful to me & perhaps other is the cost to do the FYI 🤔
I love the weekender!! Every Thursday I watch to get ideas!! Please come to Minneapolis and help with our new Fixer Upper! :)
Glad you're enjoying The Weekender, Kelsey.
I have a question. Who pays for everything????? How are the homeowners selected? I like to see pallets projects.... God bless you
Wow !!! Just wow !!! I'm in the same situation; lovely new home, empty, drab-looking sun room. I have my work cut out for me 😪😳😊
I am loving this patio makeover! I am using the string art on a wall in my home- INSPIRED!
Don't use that flooring outside. I have it in my kitchen and if I have water standing, it separates. It also scratches. I like it, but its not 100% waterproof.

Oooooo wow. Just wow. Lol, I bet they put the cushions back on the swing though....
Great ideas, I loved the floor was thinking of doing the in my sunroom. I wasn't thinking of vinyl but that worked so much better.
I wish Monica can come to my house she’s Amazing and fast we just bought a house last month need help .

I have LOVED the patio/deck/outdoor projects this season.
I love the way you inject personality into living spaces with a few key pieces and really listen to what the homemakers desire.
I remember seeing Monica in another show, Knockoff (I hope I got the name right) with her friend, her name escapes me. I was beyond psyched when I came across Lowe’s channel. Did I mention that Lowe’s is my favorite store. ❤️❤️❤️‼️‼️
Monica upgrades people’s lives. One house at a time. Great job!
Incredible makeover! Floor was brilliant and the frames really upgraded plain screen frames...and the string lighting was the icing on the cake.

I need a more detailed step by step on how to build the table. It's beautiful!
End result = BEAUTIFUL! I am properly impressed once again! I particularly like the "window frames" & the flooring. Simply spectacular transformation!
The place looks stunning! I would put some black and white porcelain tiles on the bar wall!! She’s so talented ❤️❤️
I love the weekender! Great job this season! Absolutely love this patio!
ok, all great, material price affordable but how much to hire such a great pro like her???the total cost?
She gave me life. Anti-rust paint!! I would have loved the large bulb string lights. Great job and so inspiring.
I feel like they always paint/spray late. like stuff is on the wall and then they put down tape and paint instead of painting before and then painting the screw holes

this was definitely one of my favorites. So pretty! Loved the flooring. We've gotten so many ideas and inspiration from these shows. Would love to see some ideas for a townhome patio/backyard.
Thanks for the suggestion, Yvette. We're glad you enjoyed the second season of The Weekender.
can't tell you which one is the best! I love them all!!!!!!....you're great Monica!!! can't wait for season 3!!!!
This is one of your best outdoor episodes!! Great job!!

Pinterest worthy?
Yes ✅
No
Loved the party in laundry room waterfall over the. Washer and dryer amazing Monica what you do in a weekend
I love the space and the show in general, BUT WHY DO YOU ALWAYS STAIN/PAINT AFTER ASSEMBLY I don't get it!
This is my second time around watching this series. Next up is viewing Season 3 all over again (I did seasons 4, 1 and 2 over the last few days binge watching). Dang. I need to know what brand of flooring that is!

Another good tip for curtains outside is to use nice looking, cloth, shower curtains. 😊
I thought that she would use shower curtains.
My favorite parts of the indoor screened patio room, are the table and the flooring.
I can't wait for the next season. I live for the Weekender!
Wow. This was an amazing transformation! The window treatments were super creative. Love your show. We have an office space in our home that is in desperate need of creative TLC. We would love to meet and work with you!
Can't get enough of Monica and the Weekender
Legit my favourite weekender episode. I keep coming back to watch the reveal. It turned out amazing!!!
I want window panes how can I do this myself? Do I need special tools? I do love it!
thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
it is very great job .

I Greene glad you enjoyed "Patio-topia". Screening in the whole back yard is going to be a mission. :)
OMG - GORGEOUS!!!! My fav weekender!!!
Screwing the breadboard ends to the table is REALLY BAD, that restricts wood movement and the table will pull itself apart in 6-12 months 😮😮😮😮
Now they just need to do something with that backyard. They're not done yet. Lol.

the little girls playhouse looks like the "wee shed" !
Miracle, miracle....Super, Wow Gorgeous...I love this....this is me.....Wow!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖
Me and my kiddos love to watch The Weekender! We're looking forward to more....
Janna Iler what did you think about the "Sleepless in Miami" episodes? Any projects your kids want for their rooms?
Lowe's Home Improvement
we enjoyed both of the episodes, the two kids and their parents. My girls have a small bedroom so the trundle bed build was an idea we've pondered

HI! mONICA from the philippines how i wish you can go here and renovate my home..GODBLESS
This is absolutely beautiful. My favorite was the red brick wall in New Orleans. Can't wait for Season 3! #Obsessed!
Miracle Jones we can't pick a favorite but we're a little #Obsessed too!

They had a nice soft swinging bench and now it is hard and won't be as comfortable to sit on. Should have added some pillows or something soft.
What happens when water gets under the flooring. I’m picturing black mold.
This was awesome!! I totally need to make that table!!
How can I get Monica, to come help out with my DIY projects?
HELP!!!!!
Hey there!! Does Monica come to Canada? I'd like her to come to my place please. Thanks.
Ok Monica come over.. help me please !
