The problem with buying pre-owned luxury watch for beginners like me is that I can’t be sure if the secondhand watch I bought is a genuine one. I come from China and they make very good counterfeit for a fraction of the money to be paid on the real one. If I’m buying a Rolex paying USD10K, I’d much rather buy a new one from an authorized store and make sure it’s the real deal, than paying USD5K for a secondhand one and down the track realize it’s a fake. It’s just way too much money to take any kinds of risks. Of course I’m not a collector and unlikely to ever sell any watch I have bought. I only have an Omega Seamaster Professional Chrono 300m and a Rolex Date-Just steel/gold at the moment.

Hi Archie - Can you put this on blast for me? A store in NYC - Renaissance Jewelers, sold me a Deepsea Sea Dweller 116660, and the ceramic bezel insert was aftermarket/fake. They guaranteed me that the watch was 100% genuine, and i do have the receipt and box/card. The customer service is all 'bullshit' and it's a whole bunch of talk with no intelligence/rationale behind it. It's more like they're treating me as if I have to take them into consideration, yet they broke the original consideration of the sale contract on their end. Thanks!
