"If you don't develop an advanced level of stability, you can kiss your wheels goodbye." Firas Zahabi
Coach Zahabi has seen more broken knees then any other coach alive today, MMA/BJJ is brutal, no other sport can compare! "Simply put, we need to develop advanced stability, most trainers however will only take you to the most basic level of stability training, that's all they know, that's all they can do, with knowledge of the correct progressions anyone can develop world class stability" Firas Zahabi
This program is designed for athletes of every kind and should be mandatory for all life‑long athletes. You need this video to ensure you good health. This is must have content!
As always, Coach Zahabi gets directly to the point. The video begins with a few key concepts about alignment to keep you fit and healthy for life. Coach then moves on to foundational exercises that will help you build STRENGTH, STABILITY, POWER, MOBILITY and DURABILITY in the lower body and help you protect your knees for life. All these components are needed for strong and stable knees.

Here, Coach goes into many deep concepts such as:
Why alignment is paramount
Why tight muscles are dangerous
Why stability training is king

Why you need an Iron Base
Why we never do stability training before live training
Why we need strength
Why we need power: "Train like a Ferrari not like a tow truck"

Why we need endurance
Why we keep our knees from going over our toes
Would you do a barbell squat with a rounded back?
Exceptions to the rule
Consistency over intensity (how many reps and sets?)
Why excessive soreness is the enemy
Working out for time

I'll never forget when Danaher went on JRE & said he has a "dinner rashguard" lmao
He wore a rash guard to his friend's wedding too XD
@@UnexplainedHoveringSpheroid I think Matt Serra's wedding. I could be wrong though.
🤣🤣🤣
Actually it was Gordon Ryan that appeared on a later episode and said that about him.
@@pemborsky my bad
When Jon leaned into the camera: "When you can control time and pressure you are going to win this game of jujitsu" .... bruh my whole perspective on life changed
Jon is an absolute wizard in BJJ. I've never trained under anyone that is as smart and hard working and dedicated to the sport.
Does that mean u have trained w him
@@yakub0118 no he's just saying he's never trained with anyone 😂
Liking yes
Firas, please do another session with John Danaher!
Coach Firas...THIS was a fantastic interview. You asked ALL the right questions. THIS is one of the best jiu jitsu interviews in recent history.
This and the Fridman ones with John and then the one with John, GSP and Gordon are really impactful imo
Just a couple legends humbly answering some questions... love ya both
Honestly, the detail both of you have for your disciplines is insane. John is such a genius , honestly so many gems in this one. Keep bringing on more guests, the podcasts with guests have been so good!
The greatest martial arts coach in the world who encourages others to follow his methods with realistic results. I don’t think John knows how many people he has truly impacted since making instructionals. His teachings have changed my life! Thank you Coach for bringing him on.
I didn’t want to learn Jiujitsu to get an advantage by getting to half guard! - JD thinking in a different spectrum, whilst also understanding the crucial aspects for the average viewer/participant. Such a rare combination. These two are Gold. Grateful from across the pond! ✊🏼
Meeting of two of the most sophisticated minds in martial arts. So grateful we could watch this for free.
John is Legend ! Built this man a statue ! How lucky are those who have the chance to train with him ! God bless him !
Saturday morning listening to this wonderful conversation. Thank you Firas! John too!
Firas we need more science of philosophy talk. I think it would be a great chat with Andrew Wiltse. Thank you!
YES! A Wiltse
Yes!
Great podcast, cant wait for the philosophy edition!
Gold! Two legends. Congratulations on the third 100th episode 🎉 So far so awesome. Can't wait for the fourth 100th episode. Ty Coach🙏
Seeing John and Firas in the back with Rory before his fight was awesome. Pulling for him this PFL season.
2 of my all time favorite professors.
One of my favourite conversations about grappling ever - there is so much passion and wisdom being shared here; bless you Firas 🤙
Wow. What a privilege to hear both these men in conversation. Not only world class coaches, but world class communicators in ideas.
Thank you so much coach. Seeing this is like a crossover episode of my favorite TV show. You both have so much wisdom to offer and give it away freely.
What a treat! Brilliant discussion between two philosopher-coaches. So many questions about the legend Jon Danahar answered. These gentlemen are proof that fighting is an intellectual game and thinkers sport first and foremost.
This was amazing. Especially towards the end when you got into the psychology/philosophy of fighting. Hopefully if you get John back on, you can spend a bit more time discussing it.
Now a part two talking about other things aside from combat sports! He’s so fascinating I hope we get to hear more from him before I or he leaves this earth.
Great. Got the secret service on the door after trying to go to that Jiu Jitsu site Firas recommended..Must probably contain some amazing dangerous moves!
Fascinating stuff. I can't get enough of Danaher
Ive been waiting for this duo to be on camera for years!
This is absolutely gold! ♥️
You got Firas, you got Danaher, you got GSP, together: is it any wonder they were the BEST? What a team of exquisite humans.
I truly wish to shake and meet both of you guys. You are amazing
Great interview. Agree with Firas on Garry’s and Gordon’s comparison. Same system different personalities. And yes, Garry is also my favourite grappler 😂 Super entertaining and incredibly fearless for his size.
Great conversation! Two legends. Thanks Coach. Next time, would love to get John thoughts on philosophy, God, religion and ideas like Qadr/ determinism.
This was amazing... could listen to Firas and John all day long man. Wealth of knowledge between the two.
Danaher is the best guest for the 100th episode!
Can’t wait to watch this, great idea for a 100th episode special, brother Firas. I greatly appreciate the content you provide. May God aid you to keep it going for years to come
F'n legends, the both of you.
Thanks for this, was great to hear both of you guys reminiscence.
This is an amazing interview! Thank you and I hope we get a next one. Also, your being of an insider in the development of John's coaching career brings a unique perspective into the conversation and makes you ask the right questions.
Dewy cooper and John...firas getting some amazing MMA minds on the pod
Expected knees over toes guy or paul saladino but this is even better.
the science of control! love that this finally went down.
Thank you for podcasts guys
You're welcome it's our pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Who was the ADCC legend that Gordon Ryan submitted 3x as an 18yo purple belt?
When a man builds up a another man, but none of it is BS. It is all genuine honor and respect and the due of a demonstrated master. This broadcast was a pleasure and an honor to watch.
I know nothing about BJJ but still listening to it.
Oh hell yeah! Only two of the greatest MMA and bjj minds on earth!! Let's go!
Wallahi your podcasts are a blessing ! I've never learnt so much in me life!
2 great minds thanks for this Coach, you're the best!
One more podcast with John please
100 more?
@Rothgar eaterofass, don't give my hope 🙈
I could listen to them every day
I absolutely agree about Tonon being the most fun grappler to watch - and let's not forget, Tonon is also my mother's favorite grappler!!!!1
Peace And Prosperity Coach And Mr Danaher.
John is phenomenally wise! Great conversation!
Excellent podcast, thanks for this. If you do happen to do another maybe give John some more time to expand on ideas/thoughts
I've been waiting for this for 3 years
Baron Vladimir Harkonnen sure knows a lot about Jiu-jitsu! ;) Much respect to these two legends for sharing their wisdom and experience.
Thank you for doing this. Both of you. Please do another. 🙂
This was such a fun discussion! One degree blue belt from NYC here. Osss!
Legendary Episode!!! Amazing coach
John is my spirit Animal.
Thank you both!
Excellent podcast! Love hearing Danaher's thoughts.
I’ve been waiting for this all day
Nice piece my brother !!!
46:44 Lol! Made me laugh, because I'm sure a lot of other guys had this feeling as well in the beginning, then we realized how manly and cool it actually was 😂 🤣
Nahh that shit gai - Me otw to kickboxing class watching the other class do bjj
😂
@@Houcnc Yeah then you watch as your kickboxing lasts two mins before you are getting choked out
@@jamesmccusker2260 I'd rather being choked out than being gai
@@Houcnc Yeah I can box but can you grapple?? Fish out of water as soon as clinch. I train with strikers -ex pro boxers- who can't believe all their training means nada on the ground.
Thank you for sharing!
If you do eventually have another interview with him it would be interesting to hear how his phd work influenced his pedagogical approach. Who were some of the philosophers and/or military theorists influencing his approach toward combat, epistemology, research programs?
Firas thank you brother for the great podcast much appreciated
It finally happened, thank you coach.
More than great video! Thanks Firas and John!
I can listen to u you two talk forever ✌️
Great episode Firas. If you have the opportunity I would love to see some philosophy content before he leaves
Nice, thanks Coach!
Never clicked so fast
That a boy!
Awesome talk,Firas. Great job!!!
What Firas said about GI training is absolutely correct. I have found that and have witnessed that GI practitioners can develop muscle memory for techniques that cause their no GI BJJ techniques to falter. For example if you are really good at spider guard and the transitions wherein, you will find yourself defaulting to those grips and positioning fundamentals automatically in no GI matches, putting yourself at significant deficit when it comes to technique.
This is what I witnessed at Extreme Couture and AKA. Once the GI came off many practitioners were unable to compete with predominately no GI practitioners; especially wrestlers.
This was great. Thank you!
What an incredible and informative video. I’ve never practiced BJJ but i enjoyed every moment. Great questions and also love Firas’ awareness of the need for proper volume whenever John would speak too quietly; really quality production !
This was a brilliant interview. Can you get Rener & Ryron Gracie on next?
Had no idea that Jon took up BJJ so late. Just shows how far pure obsession to the sport can really get you
He picked it up while he was a bouncer
Thanks for finally making this happen Firas!
What I find amazing is both of you have almost near photographic memory when it comes to recalling matches. Absolutely mindblowing and kind of Lebron-esque.
Really appreciate this. Even as a school principal I can apply John's knowledge to my job.
Thank you
Another excellent podcast
thanks for doing this interview!!!
I could listen to this man talk about anything.
I'm especially appreciative of his observation regarding confidence-defence dynamic. Because bad coaches and people in general seem to belive that confidence is some mystical quality which you "either have or don't have" and that you have to some how decide you have it, which never made sense to me. Masterful mind.
Firas brother. Wipe those door hinges with some olive oil. They will never squeak again
I wish this podcast was 5hrs long!!!!
Another gem! Thanks Coach
Imo the most inspiring people are the ones who find an obsession and devote their entire existence to it. It’s the air they breathe. Tarantino in film. Jobs in tech/design. Danaher in bjj/martial arts. Fascinating such a deep and complex mind found it’s home in martial arts
Great podcast, enjoyed the insight. Please do another podcast and discuss philosophy and science! God bless you Coach!
46:40 "i thought it was gay at first" lmaoooo
Firas! The man! Thank you for this, it was awesome!!!
Love you coach!
Thanks for the content and keep up the great work 😃
Amazing! We need a philosophy edition too! JAK
I really enjoyed that, thank you both for taking the time to make it and to pass on your knowledge
Thanks for uploading the interview 🙏 it is amazing
Two of the most brilliant guys around. Love them both.
Excellent conversation! 👍👊
Thanks Firas, your channel always provides so much insight.
Awesome! Thank you gentlemen!
