This is the only time I've felt something you said is completely absurd and baseless. 1) Croissant is not a "luxurious" food, it is a fairly plain breakfast bread which you have talked up far too much both here and to your sons. One day your son will achieve enough to receive a croissant, and he will say, "THAT'S IT???!" 2) Sparta was a slave society so please don't use Spartiatae as an example of being mentally tough. They didn't cook their own food, make their own clothes, work their own fields, forge their own swords and armor, stable their own horse, make their own beds, etc. They were outnumbered by the slaves whi waited on them hand-and-foot by as many as 50 to 1. If you study their history more closely you will find that, despite their few inspiring battles that have attained the status of legend, the Spartans had a losing record. Here is a link to a brief synopsis of some of the more famous of their many defeats: www.historyandheadlines.com/is-sparta-overrated-a-list-of-spartan-defeats/ They lost more battles than they won, and I ask you...where are they now? Conquered is where. Largely because of their extreme overdependence on slavery. What could possibly be more opulent than having a bunch of slaves do all the work you don't want to do? 3) THIS! ISN'T! SPARTA! *offers croissant* if I ever meet your kid I'm gonna give him a fucking croissant. What will you do to stop me? Kick my ass? This isn't Sparta, man...that's assault you would go to jail for a long time. A croissant, or even a thousand croissants, will have no such impact on your kids' development as your anxious fantasy would have you believe. 4) Just curious, what is GSP's take on the croissant? I usually find you insightful, but this is sheer nonsense. You say croissant makes a lad soft? Ok...PROVE IT.
Come to a capitalist country and you'll see no shortage of under-qualified yet cozily employed (and often over-payed) government employees. It's common, and that's to say nothing of the innumerable employees at private companies who enjoy the same advantages, often given to themselves and often with no oversight. Economic competition is indirect violence; It's whistling past the graveyard to think otherwise. It's the law of the jungle flipped upside down so that the weak-bodied are able to prevail. It's all built on words that people choose to follow. There should be an achievable middle ground, and I don't disagree with the sentiment of the title of the video, although I would contend that having the occasional croissant amidst a life of discipline is a perfectly acceptable way to experience what human culinary creativity has to offer. Otherwise you may as well just be gobbling gruel 24/7.
This is just stupid. The better philosophy is " Dont do anything your child can do by themself" My kids know that if they ask me for help, I will say try again, try to you make it. Now they see everything as practice and know that if you work hard you will get it right. As for candy, I give them fruit and nuts. And somethimes pastry..
Bro, let me give you a word of advice. When your kids grow up without poverty they will never have that thirst or hunger. Its hard life that makes a man (most have it on easy mode). When you never have to worry about the roof over you head makes a BIG difference (kids feel n see this)
Foraz is at his most ignorant (or should I say uneducated) when he tries to talk about socialism. He genuinely describes Canada as a socialist country. Perhaps someone in the chat can ask him for a definition of socialism... He seems to think that socialism is when you can't get fired from your government job lol
I worked in government in the IT sector, you're 100% right. You can't fire somebody for incompetence, unless they break a big law you're not going to get them out of there. You have to wait for people to retire and go through so much red tape and bureaucracy and middle management, it takes forever to improve their systems
This is weirdly Canadian. Firaz is Arabic enough to know the anti-Arab origins of the croissant in Larouuse's Gastronomique. Comme c'est français, dude. Lord of the Flies is such a radical example of British social criticism. That impossible synthesis of British and French is so Canadian. Or at least how I want to imagine Canadians to be.
Agreed. I am for free market capitalism, but if a society is 100% competition based with no safety net, it produces too much wealth gap and the downtrodden, ultimately leading to collapse in the form of revolution or societal depression. My home country South Korea is extremely competitive, and as a result it made economic miracle in the past half century, but the youth are burnt out and hopeless, leading to having the lowest child birth rate in the world. A healthy economy is one where everyone can utilize their unique strengths to contribute to society and themselves, both the competent/ambitious and those that aren't, relatively speaking.
at least u have good logic and spend time with the kids. my dad never got us anything good just cuz he didn't have those as a kid -_- i used to walk past nice restaurants just to smell the food and i'd be happy.

They lost more battles than they won, and I ask you...where are they now?
Read “Sparta and its Law” by Eduardo Velasco. Very different take on Sparta. Superior men of superior stock
@@mecateman that sounds like the standard unresearched take on Sparta.

Otherwise you may as well just be gobbling gruel 24/7.
i love this, 99% of parents try to protect there kids, it’s not about protecting, it’s about preparing, especially for us boys.
I agree with your mindset but why are you giving them weak oatmeal.
Give them eggs and steak if you want them to be strong.
As usual, coach makes a lot of sense..
Just as good if not better advice than Jordan Peterson..
Bacon egg and cheese croissant addict here I need help
Oh yeah, Tim hortons all day lol
Showed the clip to my wife. She agreed. No croissants for our son^^ girls can indulge.
Makes no sense
This is just stupid. The better philosophy is " Dont do anything your child can do by themself" My kids know that if they ask me for help, I will say try again, try to you make it. Now they see everything as practice and know that if you work hard you will get it right. As for candy, I give them fruit and nuts. And somethimes pastry..
May allah protect this brother 🤲🏽
Now I feel bad - not only do I love croissants - I indulge in chocolate croissants!!!
Shame 😂
I was just looking for a book to read, thanks man, I also appreciate the talking about life philosophy
Bro, let me give you a word of advice. When your kids grow up without poverty they will never have that thirst or hunger. Its hard life that makes a man (most have it on easy mode). When you never have to worry about the roof over you head makes a BIG difference (kids feel n see this)
So what is the advice?
I would say that’s mostly true. I’ve also seen lots of people who both grew up rich and were very mentally and physically strong.
This video kept getting recommended to me and after 3 weeks im finally ready to listen to Firas tell me why I shouldnt eat croissants
The true Man is revealed.
In difficult times.
Bros a good dad fr fr💪💪
This is the most hilarious serious rant on youtube. But he has a point. Which makes it a Classic clip
Professor firas all this talk of “cwoooisant” literally made me go out the next morning and buy one 🤦🏽♂️😂
I must say, you're like an older brother I never had, such gems! May Allah reward you for your efforts 🤲
Life is not 100% competition nor 100% communism. Life comprises competition and mutual help.
I agree we need to find a balance.
@@philjang747have you seen the alternative communism in North Korea on your neighbor . I would say the free market in the south is far better

at least u have good logic and spend time with the kids. my dad never got us anything good just cuz he didn't have those as a kid -_-

5:22 id like to add that some businesses depend on government subsidies and contacts. They are not the best or brightest. Its about who you know.
So brutally honest and hysterical at the same time. I can’t stop laughing 😂
I talk about this often with my wife. We have government jobs and earn loads of money. Our young kids are treated like a princess and princes. They want for nothing. I know about the "Emperor's kids" that Firas has talked about. We are constantly trying to buildup our kids resilience but it's hard when we have so much.
We both grew up modest and our kids will not know what modest will mean. Lucky them but I don't want them weak men!
I don't even have money to eat this week. It's so terrible living like this my mom and I are struggling and I am trying my best to take care of her but I am just so poor. I wish I just had money to eat this week.
@@zacheryjackson true man that's no good! Do you grow your own food? In my city, we have "pataka kai" which translate to food cupboard where people put in what they have and people in need take what is needed.

Croissant is a French fighter with a brown belt. It's amazing so many blackbelts are getting beaten down to a pulp by someone way below their weight class. It's mind-bageling.
Croissaints was created to celebrate the defeat of the turks in vienna in 1678 (ish).
So very well done, besides its a piece of shot. Tastes like nothing.

"The book is always better", truer words have never been spoken!
And yes, even, "The Godfather" is better as a book!
I hear you coach. I understand where you're coming from.
The autor of Lord of the flies was awarded with the nobel prize in literature
Firas in this video sounds like if Andrew Tate finished his degree lol.
this is too much and it fires back ...when your children reach the age of rebellion which is what every child go to ...they might choose that as their choice of rebellion ...a balanced mindful experience is better for them ...now İ am not saying rais them soft on the contrary discipline is the most important thing a child should learn but there should be an occasıonal softness to let them be balanced .... disciplined balanced upbringing creates best possible outcome
Coach firas, you're too good. I love watching your philosophy videos.
This pumped me up too much, went and threw a recently purchased box of croissants from Costco straight into the trash. My daughter is going to be pissed tomorrow.
you're a great father
I don't know about croissants, but i like the idea of what he is trying to say. introduce a little bit of suffering and discomfort to your life. It is one of the reasons I choose to work standing up. I try to make myself at home with that discomfort
make svre yov get enovgh rest as well
Working standing up as a bizarre concept. Coming from like a labor background where we’re moving 8 to 10 hours a day lifting heavy stuff all day. Standing seems like the least you could do.
@@felipetejeda7545 i have to agree
Ask old people about discomfort and how much it taught them. Surely taught them to bitch and moan very well how sick they are.
Croissants are a great source of pre-gym carbs.
I am laughing pretty hard about the way you describe what i am totally in for. Took me lots of years to realize that.
my dad raised me to be tougher but several failed relationships with unhealthy girls have broken me down into a more emotionally fragile person. I'm 33 and feel like I'll never have a family at this point... how could i even hope to be a good dad who can step in harm's way on behalf of his family?
Salam Alaikum Firas,
Let the boys have a croissant now and then coach they'll be fine.

Just bit into a croissant as I refreshed and this popped up
haven't heard a better description of a croissant than this one
Coach, hope you’re well. Can you recommend any solid jiu jitsu dojos in London from a complete beginner (I did Kendo for a year)
I read Lord of the Flies when I was 12. It opened my eyes to the reality of our world. Soon after I read 1984 and Brave New World. I became jaded by age 14 😂.
Someone said that, "Ageing is the aggressive pursuit of comfort".
Soon as he said croissant i asked this chick to pass me one
He is right. You are what you eat. If you look at countries where men are generally lean you will find diet plays a part.
I love this, man. Awesome. I am glad I never liked sweets.
I learned children are communists from Coach Zahabi today 😅
I didn't "eat the croissant" until I was 39-40. I see his point, but it was also a miserable 40 years.
I really don't get what you're trying to say here. Croissant? It's flour, butter, and heat. It's craft, it's very simple food...
You love kitkats, which are made by billionnaires who absolutely ruin people's health, but , don't eat croissants, made by bakers who make a living by making bakery stuff, developped their craft over decades, and do it with love. "Why the hell would a young man eat croissant?" lol man, what the hell...? Why would a young man would eat spaghetti sauce then? Or well made dishes? Seafood?
You missed the message
@@Trysomieflexntjes Well. "why the hell would a young man eat a croissant" please, enlight me. The real challenge is to know when to have a delicious croissant, and when not. A truly well made croissant is art. You have to taste these fabulous things but know when to stop. If Firas's sons don't eat any candies at all, well, ok, I get it. Croissant are far better for your health than a slush or candies.
