We loved it! Every Sunday NRK sent a new episode we sat ringside the TV in anticipation. I am Norwegian and I had two family members who were in the local resistance, unarmed though, during the war. They both survived! :)
Greetings from Estonia, from Baltic States! I really love this serial and its exellent job. Very good actresses and actors. I was stupid, that i thought Norway just give up for hours in 2 world war... Now i know real whats happend in Norway and with Royal Family. Its really interesting to watch and same time to remind how my granny told me war stories, if she was child in my homecountry.. In Estonia... Thanks for "Atlantic acrossing" Its touch me deeply because of my Granny memories too... Estonia was occupated too... 3 years by Germany(1941-1944) and 1944-1991 years by Soviet Union...We watching with my son this serial every saturday late evening. Greetings to Norway!
Only at episode 4, Love Søren & Tobias,only knew of them,and they play brother and father very well. Really love their scenes,i wished we heard more about Haakon and if he could hear from after and other than the train scene,or if he could speak to his family at home in Denmark . Love that movies and series are during in original characther language or more,and the fact that characthers are casted to be from the same country. So great that series and movies are more global shown now,and on stream channels global.

I think we need to remember that we are not so very far departed from this generation. I was raised by wonderful American grandparents from the GREAT Depression/WWll era. They were part of the war effort... and many of my family were wounded, crippled, and killed in the war. To understand history on an intellectual or cinematic level is one thing.... To have known and loved some of the people who were part of this era of great struggle is heartbreaking. After all these years...for some it is still not such a distant past. The wounds are still bleeding.... and tears still flow for those we loved and have passed on.

I’m talking about a lot of obvious lies in the movie. for example about the fact that the Norwegians had no food and had to eat the bark or that the Nazis arrested the children of the fleeing officials. I see it here as an attempt to appear disadvantaged more than russians or poles. And yet for example the television shown in the film only appeared in 1955, and so on.
@@adammosel4895 The film/ series was created by United States PBS (Public Broadcasting System)...a service devoted to quality programming, news, and education benefitting many age groups. IMO PBS DOES a phenomenal service to our nation..... Wonderful to know people from other nations are able to view this as well.
@@blondwiththewind2598 Yes, there are the excellent documentary series such as Frontline and Independent Lens, etc., but then there are the ubiquitous documentaries about British royals, past and present, that seem aimed at the People Magazine reading crowd. Great Performances presents, as its name implies, some great performances. But, the quality of PBS dramas has gone downhill. "Masterpiece" or "Masterpiece on PBS" implies a masterpiece, but more often than not, nowadays it's some middlebrow series (e.g. "Downton Abbey" a silly costume drama with dopey plot lines usually set around someone eavesdropping*). Oh, for an "I, Claudius" on the old "Masterpiece Theatre" or a "Brideshead Revisited". *Good for some laughs, though.

@@plutonijus Tv came in 1930(serial production)..Germany had Tv broadcasts already in early 30's to..First made Tv was in the middle of 20's
