Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they say they're using top flite bomb golf balls because the inner core of the volvik's were cracking sometimes and they didn't know it until they hit it.

Bryson is the sole reason why I got interested again when it come to tour golf. In the 00s I loved it, watched tournaments all the time and would never miss a major. In the last 10 years I have watched tour golf no more than about 10 times and even then it wasn't four whole days or anything just the weekends on some big ones. But Bryson with his unique attributes and personality has me invested again and routing for someone. Think he is great for the game 👍

Fitting - I spoke with my coach as I just wanted a new driver. I was a year into golf and I knew i didn’t need one, previous was unfitted Ping G25, I just wanted one. Local independent shop has a number of fitting carts from 8 or so manufacturers and I paid for a fitting. The cost of the fitting is taken off the price if I bought a club, but no obligation to buy.
Fitter explained what he saw in the numbers and shape etc and explained why my shots were what they were.
I have a slow swing speed so need help getting in the air and a slight bias would help straighten the shots.
He recommended Mavrix Max 12 degree and set up in 14 degree on draw setting. Shots looked more consistent and a little further. I prefer a shorter shaft so tried the one an inch shorter and again, dispersion etc improved.
I could have tried anything and said which one I liked based on reviews. He explained why he thought that wouldn’t be right for me, but still set it up and let me try it. He was right.
I took the comparison of the shots to my coach and he talked me through, what they were showing. Me trying to explain what I was told and the coach using my lesson video footage etc to show how/why it was and in essence both told me the same.
So I ordered the driver, an inch shorter….continue with the lessons and now the driver is at 11 degree and neutral setting.
I’m lucky I have a good knowledgeable golf shop with great fitter but also, my coach who I could talk things through. I have respect for both and value the opinion. If the coach said don’t bother, I wouldn’t, but together we could see the improvement in the data.
I was 22 handicapper when I went for the fitting and now I’m a 16. It’s been 9 months.
Having good people around you is key. Talking through options is important and listening to what people say.
But most importantly a new club, may improve short term and a positive confidence boost for a time, but need to dovetail with lessons and a good coach 👍
The pod casts are great, I work for the ambulance service and we do a charity golf day for a member of staff we sadly lost far too soon, and raise a little money for the captains selected charity, and this year I was very proud to be the winner of the trophy, the very same trophy that you have. Personally, I love bryson. The guy is living a life most of us dream of and he's smashing it. And its all to do with his own work ethic and passion for the things he does. He's fantastic. If you haven't watched his content on UA-cam you're missing out
I got my wife involved after she said someone had told her Stellenbosch golf club ( near cape Town South Africa) restaurant is very nice. So I took her there for lunch a few times> The balcony overlooks the 18th green, you have great views of the mountains, and good food and a glass of wine or 2 finally lead to her saying she thought she would like to give golf a go...I took her straight in to the proshop and found the lady pro and booked her some lessons.... If i cant enjoy playing golf with my wife after being married for 32 years there must be something wrong! really enjoy spending time with her at home, on range and the course!

There is a Bryson effect already started in junior golf here in the states. Kids are starting crossfit and working out now. It will be crazy to see the first kid that has been working on it for years taking Bryson's blueprint and averaging 200+ ball speeds and can putt.
1st podcast I have listened too, watch the other channel all the time. Great content and now have 98 other podcasts to watch :) Love the set and the investment you are making into your brand and hope you keep smashing it!!!! Clearly working really hard at it and pleased its paying off!!
Tip with taking the Mrs to the range, ask the pro shop for some left handed clubs and use those. Makes her feel so much more comfortable when you are both learning from scratch together

Sounded like the exact advice given by you on a previous podcast the theory works 👍 love the advice you give. Trying to get my mrs into golf currently will give this ago.

I got my wife and myself into golf by going to Topgolf. I bought a summer pass for unlimited golf for the 3 summer months.
This was great cause she and I could drink have food relax and just enjoy the company of each other.
By the end of summer no drinks were had just pure golf shots.
The lads weekend sounds amazing, just organising ours for 6 of us next year. Hope it proves to be as good as yours. And totally agree on Bryson, he is controversial but is great for our game. Hugely entertaining and making us think differently about golf. Excellent show as ever

I think Bryson putting game is up there with the best of them, it's fine to hit the green but you still got to get it in the hole and he get close if not in the hole on more then one occasion 🙃🍻
If you wanted to do a crappy golf course with a tour player I have literally the perfect course you could want that would fit the need perfectly, great content as usual

The long driver you were talking about is likely Martin Borgmeier. He has such a unique swing.
In 2019 Bryson was 10th in the owgr rankings. As of this week he is 7th. Do you think that 3 places is reflecting the work he has put in to make the gains in distance?
Bryson is a monster driver ! Colin Morikawa is 50y behind , but still wins as many tournaments and is higher in the rankings.

In our golf club we pay for the fitting but if you buy a club or set of clubs off the brand you are being fitted for, then the price of the fitting is deducted from the price of the clubs.
I worked briefly for American golf ... absolutely hated it there... made me start to resent golf...so I left pronto..now work for myself and play 3 times a week!
Hey Rick and Guy!! Love the show and channels. Just wanted to chime in and say that the long drive competition that Bryson and Kyle were in was put on by the Professional Long Drivers Association which is essentially all the long drivers coming together to continue the sport through COVID. They all wanted to make sure the sport continued even without the major sponsors they had pre pandemic. Just want to make sure the right people get their dues. Cheers!

Muni course player checking in! $100+ is too much for a round of golf for me any given weekend so I stick to local public city courses.

Another good way to get the Mrs interested is at a pitch and putt. I took mine to a course where the longest hole was like 130 yards and it's more appealing to them when they feel like they have a chance to get to the green. Definitely don't take them to a long course or they won't even make it through a round before they want to leave
I agree with Rick's comment about fitting. I've been to Titleist's St Ives centre and been fit. Paid about £40, really enjoyable experience, although, anything as long as it's Titleist hey! I'm local to another place where I could o fit, but it doesn't carry TM, Titleist, Cobra, etc so a bit limited in the selection. I'm looking at new wedges, but it's hard to go somewhere a reasonable distance and try several brands... I would have though the TXG type of thing would be far more common in the UK than it is nowadays..

I've just rejoined a golf club that I was a member of before I had children, and I've got to do my 3 cards before I get my new handicap, I used to play off 18, so my question is, how can I best prepare my game before I play my rounds to get my handicap? Range sessions or go and play 3/4 or 5 holes the day before I play my signed cards?

My wife got into F1 from watching Drive to Survive on Netflix. Like myself, she got invested in drama and characters. Would be great to see if a similar golf documentary series would work. Thoughts Guy and Rick?
The only thing I would say about taking demo clubs (specifically demo irons in this case) out onto a golf course is that it destroys the screw that goes into the hosel of the iron & can make the head become stuck onto the shaft.
I work at an American Golf store & luckily the store is attached to a golf course with a driving range, big putting green & short game area and when we took a couple of customers onto the course in a buggy to hit the fitted iron into a green whilst the customer greatly appreciated it we have now got 2 irons that are nearly useless so we no longer do this.
Big fan of the channels & hope any issues with the company isn't long lasting!
I think the only thing that would make this podcast "whole" is timestamps for the video, otherwise, love it!

No one does unbiased impartial reviews. Period. Everyone has preferences. Everyone has different requirements. Everyone needs a different set of clubs. Most can't afford either the time or the money for a custom set of equipment. The best anyone can do is an honest evaluation of how the equipment fits their talents abilities and weaknesses.
So let me get this straight. To play good you must drink more beer. COUNT ME IN. Good stuff guys. Can we get a beer instruction video. You know, placement of the elbow, how much to tilt the mug, and when to down it.
Great story about your round at JCB. My favorite part of the story is when you used the term "wedge" to refer to the food that was sent to you. I am a native New Yorker and that is a very colloquial term used to describe a sandwich. I have never heard it said outside of the NY metro area and was definitely not expecting to hear it in your Manchester accent.

I know I've said it before but when you were talking about reviewing clubs I'm still shocked that you haven't tested the zx7 irons at all considering they have been one of the hottest selling irons of the year and especially since brooks keopka has switched to them. I think your audience would still love to see it if possible. I know I would love to get your opinion on them.
Rick and Guy, great episode as always. Kinda want to defend Schauffele a little though. Maybe it’s not as big across the pond but it seems pretty common for guys to break out the cigars after a championship win of some sort here in the US. Maybe I’m alone in that, anybody else think so?

As a fitter I don’t make commission so I don’t feel the need to pressure a customer into buying anything. Of course I’d rather them spend money at my store cause it looks good on me to my boss. On the topic of the warm up shots with your own club I have my customer start hitting shots with their club but with the launch monitor off while I get my demo clubs, set stuff up, etc. This allows them to get loose so the fitting is accurate and lets them get the nerves out.
Don't feel guilty Rick! You should have a clear separation between your public and private life! Nice podcast!

I payed £160 for my fitting at tour x golf and I was fab really enjoyed it and ended up with clubs perfect for me everyone should go to tour x
I would always go for a fitting and suggest that it is a lesson rather than a fitting and pay for the lesson, if your technique can be improved you can benefit a lot more than new clubs!

I play golf once a week with my wife, it all started the night Hideki Matsuyama won the Masters we sat watching while drinking wine, next step she got some irons and a hybrid, couple sessions on the range,followed by private lesson, now shes hooked !

I'd actually say that the fact there is no Tiger right now is mitigated by the massive effect Tiger had. More moms and dads are passing on a passion for the game because of Tiger. More elite and prominent athletes are into the game and promote the game because of Tiger. So yes, there is no Tiger. But the effect he has still has a ripple effect that continues to grow.
You should still post the audio to UA-cam with just your logo background or something similar so that people can still listen without looking elsewhere.
