They help businesses track you. I don't like that. I prefer cash. Cash is privacy. But watch for it to be phased out in the next decade or so. Governments like to be able to track your purchases, too. They like to be able to control what you buy. If all payment is digital, the government will be able to approve or disapprove your purchases. Or even lock your ability to buy anything. Thank goodness for Bitcoin, silver, and gold.
