absolutely : a very talented band with one of the best drum&bass combo around at the time. Not to mention Taylor, Knopfler and Clark. IMHO the best album Dylan recorded in the eighties. In addition, if we also consider the outtakes, we are basically faced to one of the best recording session that Dylan went through during his whole career.

I think solo at the end is actually an overdub by Mick Taylor. The Wikipedia says Knopfler plays lead guitar. But the solo at the end is in fact Mick, mimed by his girlfriend.

Therefore, here you are four things to substantiate my post in decreasing order of importance: first of all the reputed guitarist Mick Joiner who transcribed basically each solo Taylor did, attributes this solo to Taylor. Secondly, the solo sounds much more taylorish than knopflerish to my ears . I can hardly image a talented guitarist as Knopfler mimicking Mick Taylor's style. Have a listen to what Taylor recorded with Mayall and the Stones to pin down his lyricism. Thirdly, I am very skeptical about what the web reports but, if we exclude wikipedia (that can be wrong) there is a good deal of evidence out there about Taylor playing the solo (on YT, for instance, guitarists attribute the solo to Taylor). Finally, and less importantly, from the very beginning of his career Taylor was essentially in charge of crafting outstanding solos: that's what his reputation was made of. It is kind of hard to think that he was chosen and paid to restrain his talent
Poobalan Pather The only artist I can think of who is at least as genius as Bob Dylan is Nick Drake. If you haven’t heard of him I really, really recommend you check his stuff out. His album _Pink Moon_ is an absolute masterpiece (it’s on UA-cam as well), and I urge you to listen to it at some point in your life (not to sound demanding haha, I’m just very passionate about his work, as he was painfully under appreciated and unknown during his lifetime, and still is to this day to an extent). The best songwriter ever, a master poet and brilliant delivery. Not the most skilled guitarist or pianist, if Mark Knopfler's post album comments are anything to go by. Then again Mark Knopfler's lyrical output wasn't the greatest, but one hell of a guitarist.

One of Dylan's under-appreciated and misunderstood gems. I've heard it criticized for being misogynistic but I think that the "Sweetheart" he's singing to is Lady Liberty, who has taken quite a beating in the "Land of the Free."

Infidels is an excellent album. I so tired of "Dylan Experts" saying the 80's was his weakest era. I love every song on infidels.
