  • Welcome to Episode 9, running empty from the depot to Bedwyn Station prior to working a Bedwyn to Reading Rail Replacement shift
    After the introduction I show the basics of a walkround check, I know this was done in a previous episode but this is a different vehicle, and hopefully you can hear better as well with the new microphone gear
    The rest is a POV using the camera on a cap, which seemed to work well with the trial video I did so hopefully this will feature a lot more.
    Later on I cover Hungerford to Bedwyn section in the daylight

      Thank you, I'm looking at a possible mini series on different types of roads with tips on preparing for the practical PCV test. As I say I'm no driving expert with years of experience, but having done the test a couple of years ago parts of it are still fresh in my head what you do on the day

    Hey James, great job! I've only just stumbled across your channel. I stopped driving coaches during 2020 due to the pandemic. I have since retired completely. A couple of years on and I still miss not being behind the wheel, so it's enjoyable to watch your videos. Making videos on the job was something I thought about doing when I was driving, but never got round to doing it. Keep up the good work! 👍

      @james143611 how many seater is your bus? Looks daunting for me driving a machine like that. Don't get me wrong I've drove past 20 years for a living & have clean licence & max no claims.
      Not drove a bus for 15 years though. I have grand father rights with regards cpc. Seems madness that I can just do cpc & I'm fine to drive something like this. Feel like I need 'L' plates ha

    Hi James, yes I like the pov, it gives a better view, sound is fine as well, do you prefer driving the newer automatic coaches, or the older manual ones

    • @james143611
      @james143611  Рік тому

      Bit of both I think, some manuals are great but depends on what you are doing, done my school route in a manual once and because its down country lanes and an hours long route, you are forever changing up and down its actually quite a chore!
      Some 'express' school routes on main roads is quicker in a manual than an auto as you are in control of the gears.
      The Irizar I tend to use both auto and manual, usually setting manual for hills and pulling off roundabouts, the rest in automatic

    Hi James, have you ever driven a tri axle? If so how did you find it?

    • @james143611
      @james143611  Рік тому +1

      Yes we have two in the fleet, one tri-axle Tourismo which I've taken on a 4 day tour, easy to drive as the rear steer makes it easier on roundabouts and bends, the tri axle Levante has a good turning circle as well, however it is full width and has a long overhang at the front and rear which is awkward

    Loving the videos!
    Do you use a truck sat nav to help with small lanes or just a normal car one?

    • @james143611

      Truck / Bus sat nav TomTom pro one

      Bloody ages 🤣 this one particularly takes hours, my Tourismo can take a good half hour.
      Interesting! Can't say I'm a fan of DAF, I've seen posts from truckers not liking DAF's
