    Honestly it's very disappointing how they chose to go about this. For years I've always wanted a Cardfight Simulator like Master Duel and Shadowverse. I don't see why they could not offer the same and have it available on all platforms with cross play. Also the PC version of Dear Days plays horribly in my opinion. I would justify the high price point of entry if it was a Deluxe Edition with goodies like cards and products like other games do.

    I've said it before but if this is indeed FuRyu's fault for the high price tag for the base game and DLC then I want Bushiroad to reconsider their relationship with FuRyu. If DD doesn't sell well enough then I think one of two things might happen:
    1. Bushi misinterprets it as people outside of Japan don't care about a proper Vanguard game and will never release another one outside of Japan again.
    2. They realize the poor sales is FuRyu's fault and not because fans don't care about the game.
    If number 2 is the outcome then Bushiroad needs to reconsider their relationship with FuRyu after all these years if they wish to expand Vanguard into the West with video games and grow the community further. This means dropping FuRyu as the developers for Vanguard games and getting a new dev team for future projects.

I started by just randomly watching the show on UA-cam up to Link Joker, thought the rules were kinda cool, loved the card art and the vibe of the game itself. Figured a video game would come out eventually....oh....only in Japan you say. Okay they'll get ported....(Nope). Oh one heard about this one coming out earlier this year got hype, then kinda forgot about it until I randomly looked on the eShop and saw this game that is the exact same price as God Of War: Raganarok and more than Pokemon. I’d consider going through all that trouble again, but I’m a little worried I wouldn’t be able to get rid of the rest of the currency, and my account would be locked to Brazil. I guess I could buy the pass and use some leftover currency for other DLC like sleeves or fighters, and that would be a lot of money saved. The first Rush Duel game actually had 3 or 4 FREE card updates in Japan (english didn't get any), adding in about 4-5 sets I believe, which included the new Fusion mechanic which wasn't in the base game. The final update also gave every character in the game new decks, which means a lot of content was added, and you could fight AI with their fully updated decks (nevermind the amount of new summoning animations and voice lines added). The DLC was pretty much just buying complete decks, so you could skip it.
    I'm genuinely surprised how generous Konami was and that makes this whole Vanguard thing even more shocking. Nevermind the fact that EX released up to date on the week. I'm just upset because the way this is going, we'll likely NOT get Set 8 too which really sucks, because that set looks so much fun. I would have been perfectly fine with this DLC being $30 while we pay another $30 for Set 8, 9 and Messiah

    I've been waiting for this video since I saw the dlc prices.
    Honestly, they could have done this a 100 times better. I believe one of the fears they have is that they lose tcg players to Dear Days. In my opinion they could have taken advantage of this like they did with Zero, just making tournaments with Dear Days since it'll have a ranked system and they said it'd be updated (at least until chronojet set).
    The pricing for the game was expected on 60 dollars since EX was around that price in JP and 70 dollars was a surprise. Then the dlc prices were crazy because of how expensive they were having to pay 15 dollars for set separately and 70 for all of them together along with sleeves. But the release dates... they are expecting people to wait until February to play set 6 which already has about 5 months in JP and almost 1 month in EN. By the time it comes out EN would be playing set 8 and JP would be playing set 9. It was crazy. A lot of people wanted to try this game as maybe a simulator before buying the cards after trying them in DD since (at least me) it was expected to be a month difference between tcg and DD like it was said in the video.
    Also we don't get to know if set 8 and above would be updated to the game after. Honestly, I believe they took one of the worst decisions ever with the marketing strategy with the game. But hopefully they'll take a look at all the emails and maybe do something about it.

    You do have to wonder why on earth they would make some of the choices they did. Like, seriously? Releasing the game the same day as a new pokemon game and MORE expensive? It just doesn't make sense and I feel like that's so basic in terms of common sense/marketing strategy that it makes me wonder if they actually have competent people making those decisions or if they have someone filling a position that just doesn't know what they're doing. It is frustrating to all the people who enjoy the game and want to see it grow so they can have access to more product/events in their local area and this was such a huge opportunity for the game and they dropped the ball. I think the game is good as far as a TCG game goes, especially for those of us who can't play IRL because not enough players/support. So to have access to this is huge. But like everyone else has already mentioned, it could introduced more people to the game and grown the community...but they slapped a $70 price tag on it that no average kid can afford and no sensible person is going to pay if they're just curious or don't know a thing about CFV. for a while now it has felt like Bushi is on the verge of doing to Vanguard what they did to Buddyfight. They're making things harder to get into and eventually we might see things just collapse entirely. Secondary market for the physical TCG and FuRyu charging so much isn't helping anything either. We also have more DLC revealed for DearDays but it hasn't been added to the $70 DLC pack, so it's likely going to be a separate transaction on its own (or put into another $70 bundle with other future DLC as well). I've loved Vanguard since 2012, but it feels like the companies and even players themselves are trying to choke the game out til it dies. Not sure it'll survive another reboot if they ever try that again. I say this knowing that they had plans for Overdress to last into like 2025 or something, but that's just what they are hoping for, and if it crashes, it crashes.

    because of the pricing, it makes my decision to buy drop from 100% to like 40%-50%. I want to buy the game because of online but if the price especially the dlc is too expensive for me just to play online, I would rather don't buy it for online and switch back to cfa. And also there are ways to play the game just for the story without buying which will tempt most people. Just like you said, they are really losing opportunity to open up the franchise

    If the game was a free gacha like Master Duel you'd easily have to spend WAY more than $70 to build a deck, and you'd be spending forever. Even accounting for paid DLC in the future for Dear Days the spend value is going to be way less.

That's just not realistic anymore at $70, and as someone who has been on the sidelines for so long it is a massive bummer.

    Never considered that FuRyu could have been the one to set the price, not Bushiroad. Still, I sent my email to Bushiroad and they said they forwarded it to the appropriate department. Which kinda seems like a blow-off but I'll take what I can get. More than likely I'll still by the game. Perhaps after Cyber Monday here the US. BUT. I'm going to transfer my account to my friends own consoles so they can download the game. If I'm not mistaken once the game is downloaded onto the system anyone can play it.
    It's kinda reassuring that FuRyu could have been the one that set the price and not Bushiroad. Means that Bushiroad wouldn't have done this deliberately which would be shooting themselves in the foot. Used to think that they maybe did it on purpose so they would have an excuse not to release video games internationally.

    So basically the reason why no one else gets to play a VG video-game is because of Furyu. At first I thought "that's kinda the japanese business model, sadly, they're a bit xenophobic". But then with the switch and older Digital releases, that literally cost them nothing (save for translation and overseas taxes) and Furyu does this? Yeah, WHY is bushiroad so reliant on them? I mean, if anything, it seems like Furyu just wants to keep the game IN Japan, for whatever reason. So like, why doesn't bushiroad just release it digitally? Without their involvement? Because from what I can see of the horrible typos and mishandled prices, Furyu isn't helping them much.

  • @ericgropuis
    @ericgropuis Рік тому +3

    I think it’s just crazy how pricey the DLC is to have a card game video game to have that pricey dlc?? The base game is already asking a lot for it being 69.99 (nice) the other games on the market are slightly cheaper than it and a bigger sale like Pokémon. While I can understand dlc to add in more cards in the future I don’t get why it has to cost as much as the base game to add these cards and when those cards will be available most likely no one will be playing the game anymore with how they have done. With Vanguard EX they just put that game out there and never gave it card updates so the game was already outdated by the time it came out with its last in game set being Raging Tactics. Idk how the base game would go it does seem like it would have a decent amount of packs in it but it will also be outdated unless you buy the DLC and you won’t even have the DLC available until later. This is a game that won’t be giving anymore work after it’s out, it’s not like a service like MTG Arena, Pokémon Online, Yugioh Master Duel which are all free games with transactions but will free to play. This is a 69.99 game in my area with DLC that cost the same for a game that I won’t be playing in the future and might pick up here and there got a few matches.
    I do mostly play Furyuu I don’t have it confirmed but I have heard that they don’t like to bring games outside of Japan and it could be them trying to force Bushiroad to make the game more expensive than other games in the market. I will still hold blame for Bushiroad for thinking it’s a good idea to release a game right before Pokémon is going to come out and asking for more money than the Pokémon game. They should have just made an online service game imo. Pokémon has been having an online service for the longest time, Magic has had a few in the past but recently has stuck with it and Yugioh finally just made their online service game and all of these aren’t asking people to spend lots of money just to start playing, they are all free to play and you choose if you want to spend more money on it or not. The big 3 have online services and if Vanguard doesn’t want to die off they should get with the times. We should have just gotten an online service that is cross-platform so we can just play some vanguard, we don’t need a story based card game cause most people aren’t going to be paying attention to that and just going through the story mode so they can make their deck.
    It’s like they are trying to kill this game so they don’t have to have any globe releases. As much as I enjoy the system that Furyuu has made they should consider partnering with someone else to develop games in the future

    Bruh why is Cardfight Vanguard acting like it's popular enough to have that price in the United States. Not even Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh are aiming for that price. Usually when you attempting to become more popular in a region, you undersell yourself to become more attractive options for players to try out. Making $69.99 is a death move for Cardfight Vanguard since only die hards will get it.

But then bushiroad sell their game at 70 bucks with no dlc and MTL translation? I really am not gonna buy this game for 70$, i rather pain my ass to brazil region so i can buy the game for 20$

  • @kylovich7129
    @kylovich7129 Рік тому +1

    Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet and I'm halfway through the video so disregard if it was covered. Perhaps the game is so expensive because they know how small of a market there is for vanguard but still need to recover the cost of making the game. If they want to make a decent game, it needs a higher budget so essentially the theory is that they are relying on the dedicated fans to support the cost of the game and bringing in new players would be a nice-to-have vs selling the game cheaper and risking not many new people buying the game to make up the difference.
    I truly can't understand why vanguard is struggling so much in the TCG arena because it is MUCH more beginner friendly than yugioh and also has that appeal to younger players. Not to mention, it's fun and the cards look awesome, especially for anime fans. Now thinking of it, the thing that pokemon and yugioh have are anime that pulled people in...Overdress was pretty decent for what it was...Willdress seems to be even better. The pro crossdressing and boy on boy relationship stuff was a little blatant but that's whatever and another topic. If they could invest in working with a studio to make a hit anime based around the card game and marketed aggressively in the States and EU with product and events, they could contend with pokemon and yugioh.

    edit: turns out the reason it was showing as £170 to me is because it was showing the additional card pass, aswell as all the things seperately, so it would have been me paying for the same things twice

Where I live I only have like 1 or 2 People to play with and I really wished for something like ygopro for cardfight. The price does seem a bit high (I live in germany so it's probably gonna be a little high but still kind of standard game pice) but honestly I am willing to play for it. I also pre ordered Pokémon and I honestly have to say it really doesn't bother me at all. I can play pokémon with my son and then when he goes to sleep I can play a bit of Vanguard, or vice versa. But of course that is just my opinion. I will buy it on steam because my friends buy it for steam too. The pricing for the dlc is pretty insane though, I did not expect that. The scariest thing about this game for me is that they may just stop updating it. With EX it released with the cards it had and that was it, so it quickly became outdated. • @CloudYasami2

      @@dred_dreamr Yes that is my concern as well. If you think about it Set 7 comes 31st of May 2023, until then we will probably have 1 or 2 more sets, and what if they never update it? Then we have to wait so long to play a set that will be old already by that time. Thinking about it I would probably only purchase Set 6 and 7. I do not like lyrical anyway, and I do not need to play the chrono deck. And if you think about it, you get the set in germany for 16,99 Euros, a full display often costs around 60-70 Euros irl, so you basicly get all the cards for 16,99 (since you can buy the packs ingame for the VP that you farm) so from that perspective it actually does not seem too bad. But still, paying for 2 games for something that in my opinion should be in the game from the start (or at least set 6) is just so...frustrating you know? So years ago when Vanguard first came out. I was interested in the TCG, I even got Dragonic Overload/Toshiki Kai's starter deck. At that point in time my friends and I were already playing Yu-Gi-Oh, I was interested in trying out the new card game but none of my other friends were committed to trying it out. Now years later, a few months ago (around May/June) some of my online friends mentioned they were interested in getting back into Vanguard, and I was down and willing to pick up, learn, and actually play the game for once. Convenient enough at that point in time Dear Days was revealed and announced. Which got me excited since as a Yu-Gi-Oh player who has played the TCG competitively, I played YGOPRO, I enjoyed Legacy of the Duelist, and when Master Duel came out I was happy and excited for them to release a F2P game that has cards across all of the series itself, of course there is micro-transactions but it is also cross-platform and cross-play. I played Vanguard with said friends that I mention on Tabletop, we went with Premium and V-Premium format. I also played and tried out Vanguard Zero and I had fun with both, but I wanted a Vanguard game that is similar to the actual TCG equivalent to Yu-Gi-Oh and Legacy of the Duelist or Master Duel along with mechanics being automated for convenience and being able to play with friends or other players online. I was still excited for Dear Days even after learning it was going to be in Standard format, which I don't mind learning, picking up, and playing even though it wont be as vast or as dynamic as Premium format, I was just excited to play the actual TCG virtually. then I played the demo of Dear Days, which wasn't bad though there were things I was surprised with them not having or including, like being able to change Key Bindings for convenience and compared to the Yu-Gi-Oh games that I mentioned or even Vanguard Zero, there was no unique presentation to give that impact when you bring out that Grade 3 Vanguard, which was a bit underwhelming but I was still satisfied knowing at least I can play Vanguard genuinely with official rule set and mechanics, and it would be in a format that is easy to digest for new players to the game as a whole or the format. But then a couple of days ago, seeing how the price hasn't been revealed on Steam yet for Dear Days. I decided to open the Nintendo website, find Dear Days, and then I saw that price. I am now less likely to get the game since I am also getting Pokemon, I might try to buy the game still whether is waiting to see if they eventually drop the price/it goes on sale, or getting the game in a different country/region just so it is easier to obtain without it costing soo much, not to mention I wasn't aware that the DLC for the games will cost just as much as the game itself. It really lowers the encouragement for me to get the game and try it out, along with my friends who play Vanguard, they aren't willing to spend 70 dollars, plus they are competing with other online TCG games. From ones you can buy and play like Legacy of the Duelist, or F2P like Master Duel, or Legends of Runeterra, Hearthstone, etc. If the issue is the Dev's/FuRyu and it isn't Bushiroad that placed the game in such a high price, I do hope things change not only so that I can get the game and play it, but if they want to compete with the other digital TCGs and have more people interested and get invested in to Vanguard entirely, They need make changes for the better for the community and the potential for the franchise as a whole.

From playing the demo, it feels like they literally made a switch game and afterwards decided "hey lets make it available on PC as well" porting the functionality very poorly. With games out there like Hearthstone and Master Duel, even Pokemon TCG live and online, which feel super fluid, built for PC, bushiroad had perfect templates on how to make a good looking and feeling online card game but just didn't. The game wasn't at all made to be played with on a mouse and its such a shame because, for one its the largest market outside of Japan, and also because of how much money these other comparable games make. If the gameplay was good, I would consider forking out the money, but with the clunky controls and jerky, uncontrollable camera views, its the biggest 'no' factor for me.

    i think its too overpriced for what the game is , its a 20$ game , 30$ with DLCS that aren't probably worth that price anyway. It's not a 60$ game.

    I was waiting for the shadowverse mention because i recall getting it for 30 euros, and this is not to mention is a game with 3D models and scenarios, which is a lot of work.
    Also special mention to Rush Duel which got supported in the long run.

    I play the pokemon and ygo online tcg clients(PTCG Live and Master duel respectively). Both are very f2p friendly. A new account can have 1-3 decks easily built with the dust and initial dump of in-game currency. If you cant build anymore decks in the account you can always make a new account for free.
    I was very excited to play Dear Days but the price point is turning me off. Might pick it up when it goes on a massive sale. 70bucks+DLC just isnt worth it to me

    I started seeing videos for DD and it got me interested to play Vanguard for the first time. But that price point in the US is just ridiculous. I’m trying out Zero f2p instead lol

    So is the game supposed to be released on the Switch today or tomorrow? The eShop states it's on the 16th, while the Bushiroad site says the 17th. I'm confused

      @miguellecaperal7402 Рік тому +1

      Probably later, because as DF said. The game is going to be released 24 hours from now as the release time is most likely following the JP schedule which is why countries like the US are getting it on the 16th since it'll be 17 after 5 or 4 more hours for JP. Just a hunch though, I don't know the exact time of these releases

    At this point I cant even be surprised, we were all expecting too much from the same company that's outright refused to release their previous games to the west. And I wouldn't be surprised if furyu also pulled out from doing future releases after this stunt. I dont know what's wrong with this company, why are they so gung ho about japanese releases only? What the hell did today's bushiroad do to get them to finally agree to this? That we'll never know.

    "Regional pricing"
    So just go to Greece, got it.
    Edit: Wow, the prices website ruined my joke. Damn. I'm surprised, I was under the impression you don't get a worse GDP or whatever the hell than Greece, but apparently not if it's average price.
    Well, time to get a ticket to Columbia, I guess.

    The extremely high price point is definitely off putting. I can't see myself paying 70$ for a game that shouldn't be more than 40 AT MOST. I mean, Master Duel is wildly successful and it FREE!! Bushiroad may need to do some changes in the future if they game doesn't sell well (or at all) because no way will this game have a staggeringly high player base like Master Duel or even VG Zero with the price looking like this

    Just checked the price on steam, in my country it's roughly 34 USD. I'm not sure if it's regional pricing it steam.

    I honestly don't care much about the price. What I don't like is that they're so slow in releasing sets. It should be at most 1 set behind from the TCG.
