I love the long videos fyi, everyone else gives me 5-10min vids and it's never enough to scratch that itch. When I see you upload it's fun to know I can chill and feel like I'm watching an episode of a show. 🤗☺️ Great as always.
My daughter and I love watching your channel for inspiration! We’re just now launching our reef for our channel, and because this is her first reef, the whole process is so much fun and reminds me of when I first started in the salt hobby. Always well done!
Broooooooo, your tank is goals!!!!!!! I love how its filled but not too much reminds me of shark tails. Which is a goal of mines to make a reef tank like the movie lol.
Here I am looking for a cool video showing some Pearly Jawfish because I ordered some for the petco I work in, and guess what ? ironically the first video I watch is of someone who bought one in the same store I work in 😂 and the one you bought was probably me who order it too haha
Love the video, man what a great deal on that huge rock + everything that was on it....😲😲😲. I am glad you're not live streaming because I don't want to miss an update.
Your aquarium is beautiful. Don't worry about the ( rambling) you do a great job. I have seen a couple of your live streams. They are fine. Keep up the great work.
most of us watch drinking our own coffees. Would love to see more snippets of your life vlogged in between tank shots. I want to see more of that cherry tree and your coffee!
you should definitely quarantine all your new corals and fish. That is how I got all my pests: zoas eating nudibranches, vermetid snails, asterina starfish etc etc.
Wow! I never see any saltwater fish around my local Petcos haha. Cool to see they even had some coral in there. Great video with a lot of new reef candy! 🥳🤣
My man nice vid. One tiny peppermint shrimp i got from reef cleaners cleaned out all aptasia in my 12 G. In two weeks. Ao they definitely eat them. I think you on a good road. 👊
When you said sustainable aquatics, where you talking about the one in jefferson city, TN? They produce many foods and have a full hatchery here in my home town lol just curious if they are actually that popular (locally they are the #1 go to for reef stuffs)
I think if you move the MP40 to the right side of the tank the flow will be too laminar (will stress your euph alot) since both mp40 will be on one side. Id suggest moving the mp40 to the left side and shifting the one on the right side backward to align. You will get a good flow in your sps zone and the two mp40 flow colliding will create random, moderate flow for the lower sections of the tank
I went to petco and wanted to get a sharknose goby since they seem to be the only place that has cleaner gobies, but since I’m 17 I couldn’t purchase fish from petco, and I just took that as a sign I should wait to get a cleaner goby
@@InappropriateReefer I think it’s a petco and big chain stores thing. I guess it makes sense somewhat since I’m sure there are some bad stories with children buying fish. But all other stores allow it
@@InappropriateReefer the redsea reefwave 45. I have it 5 inches from the surface left side of the tank. Then I have my mp40 placed on the back wall right side
Zoas should do nicely in high flow will keep them clean, short and bunched up! I love keeping mine in high flow high light! Mine had the same baby aptasia and have grown over them also. Maybe they will cut them out from light and kill them off. That Is what happend to mine that had baby aptasia. Haven't seen any since.
I wish my petco was like yours. Mine has 2 clownfish that are bullies and that's it lol. I tend to order my fish from eBay and the local reefer I have but I absolutely love your tank setup. BTW I had 2 peppermint shrimp and one skunk shrimp in my 32 gallon biocube. when you don't feed enough the peppermint shrimp will start eating corals, as they ate one of my ACANS, just so you're aware.
hey inappropriate reefer I have just upgraded my tank to a 36 gallon tank any light suggestions for coral growth the dimensions are 30.7 in L 15.7 in W and 22.2 in H
Absolutely - please check out wamas.org and www.cmas-md.org! In order to access the Buy/Sell section for WAMAS, you will need to join and become a member ($20 annually, totally worth it!)
nice tank just take out that aptisia u can use a baby sucker or a spoon. like the jawfish. my local petco cut down on saltwater selection you can get some good deals there thinking of doing a qt soon.
Just a quick thing, when peppermint shrimp are hungry hungry, they will go after both aptasia, and when they are gone they will start nipping at corals, only when they are starving though
Thanks, that's what I am afraid of with shrimps and crabs... I do see the smaller Aiptasias disappearing from the tank, I think I will start moving some of these fellas to the refugium until needed again later. Thanks for the confirmation on this!
@@InappropriateReefer yeah i had my aquarium on a diet and a few days ago i looked inside at my hammer and it looked completely gone, it came back quickly but i am 99 percent sure it was the peppermint shimp. Safe to say i feed well from then on.
Yeah that full green hammer Is gorgeous, hammer are my favourite coral I got a purple ish one with gold tips for my birthday its walling, n my mum was sceptical when she found that out. Two weeks on it's doing well though 😁
Get some rock flower nems! I’ve got several and they really pop under blue lights. They are also pretty much bulletproof and inexpensive.won’t move around very much, either.
Everyone is getting on the live stream wagon I say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. You are correct about the rambling most live stream’s get annoying for that very reason. Also keep the 12:30 time slot on Sunday’s please. You are a great part of my weekly routine don’t change a thing...except maybe make longer videos? You are always in my TV while I do water changes on sundays, it have become a long term routine and it sucks when the video ends before I finish. Matter of fact the times you skipped a Sunday video I did not even bother to do my water changes. It’s like my helper was missing. Keep it up and don’t change a thing brother! If you guys ever make it to western NC (Asheville) on your cool trips give a brother a shout! I’ll show you around. Tank looks so good finally!
Thanks for your kind words Wayne, and happy to be a part of your Sunday routine (and your water change buddy)! Should have gave you a shout when I was down at NC earlier this year, I will keep you in mind the next time we head that way! 🙌
Question your lighting how do you have yours as in how long do you have your white light on qnd you blue i read different things about lighting all the time ?
I started out with AB+ and then added white until it's pleasing to the eyes, I do like slightly more white than blue in terms of lighting. I have the light at around 37% and still slowing walking it up. They're at full brightness between 6:30 - 12:30 with half an hour of blue before & after. I think the corals are very adaptable, as long as you give them time to adjust to the new lighting scheme if you decide to increase the light. I have light shocked some corals pretty badly in the past by tweaking the light too high quickly
I googled Yellow Brick Road and it looks similar, although the eye is more orange than yellow, but they do look similar... I will let the zoa settles in and share more videos on it to double check, definitely not Eagle Eyes. Thanks for the ID Nick!
I love how your jaw fish made a home right at the front of your tank. He’s surprisingly very comfortable there too. Sweet tank!!

Your reef is one of the best, it looks natural unlike most sps systems
Always love natural or just simple tanks like bare bottoms over anything else

I didn't know Petco sold corals.
Reef moonshine is the way! Couldn't keep anything before I started and finally had success after starting. Good choice!

I would definitely suggest trying a gyre. I was having the same flow problem. Have one mp40 and a single reefwave 45 gyre. No dead spots what so ever
Your comment got me looking... wondering which brand's Gyre pump you went for, and how did you end up placing it?
@@InappropriateReefer the redsea reefwave 45. I have it 5 inches from the surface left side of the tank. Then I have my mp40 placed on the back wall right side

Don’t underestimate the power of a peppermint shrimp. Love how your tanks coming together

$50 for that rock and $35 for the hammer?? Wtf?? My lfs would probably charge $30 per polyp for the hammer. That rock would cost $150+.
Nice zoas and great deal 👍🏽
I like your tank, just wish you’d zoom out and show the whole tank for a full minute.
Damnnnn that hippo tang has grown so much
Indeed! I have had this guy for around the same amount of time as the one back in my 45g... this one more than tripled the growth rate!

Where do you get safety stop?
The tank looks nice.Have u ever thought about adding Fox coral to ur reef?
How do you gwt so lucky with all those corals
I am lucky to have a fantastic active reef club (WAMAS) here!
Where you buy the coral for that price?
That’s more of an octospawn than a hammer.

Hey Doc, sadly it's gone gone. I have had a lot of "lost wallet scares" but this one is final. 😢
youre absolutely insane for not QTing a fish from petco.
You didn't even acclimate
Not for corals, although I typically float them; for large colonies that I couldn't float, as long as they are room temp I just add them straight in
Please dont go to live streams instead, too lazy ;P
xenia such a nuisance
