One thing I learned is you never know when the mushrooms might reappear. I bought some mushrooms about three months after I set up my tank. I just thought they melted away and died well my tanks been set up for 4 1/2 years now and about three months ago, they just all of a sudden reappeared, weirdest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
Reefers code!!!!!! I love this!!!!! This is absolutely the best part of the hobby and everyone comes out winning. This is how we combat the crazy prices on things we really want. REEFERS CODE! I love this. Easy to ask: Reefers code? Love it.
I definitely got hooked up from the trades! It is a very nice deep fluorescent green. Let me take a closer look to see if it's the same as your green pineapple leather (cool to know the common name!). Reefcleaners has a nice variety and quite reasonably priced! I remember my last order's batch of Astraea snails were toasted on landing as well so may want to go light on those... but $1/ea it may be worth the gamble!
I'm a bit nervous about buying Peppermint Shrimps at store these days after learning that there are certain species that don't even touch Aiptasia, and they all look so similar! I am glad to hear that you got one of the right types from HoT though!!
I'm crying in pink teardrop 7:20, and I noticed it's your center piece in your aquarium :) . I would be curious to know how the coloration will turn over time, usually people say it goes from pink to purple when in rich water nutriment. Today I just order a pocillopora dark purple... color that I already have plenty of but a different species. The hunt still continue after 2 years lol aaaa
That frag is absolutely gorgeous under regular day light! Thankfully it still has a hint of pink/purple under my LEDs and not straight up tan; I'm hoping to make a frag of this for the Mangrove system once that system is more stable to better show off it's awesome color. Looking forward to your on-going hunt. (saw your comment during Reefbum's livestream too! ;-) )
I’ve had great success with peps removing Aiptasia, however they’ve now turned on my fireworks clove polyps and zoas 😢 Time to catch ‘em and move them to my shrimp city pico.
The peppermint shrimp from Algae Barn… are expensive AF and, if you read up on the different species, the ones you have bought apparently are not the best for the job.
Those shrimp are tiny, BUT they are tank raised. Hardier and less of an impact. I saw the box and it said Colorado, I was like how are they getting shrimp stock efficiently in a land locked location? They have a great article on how the breed them. Really interesting.
Hi there, unrelated question for you regarding the avast kalk stirrer. How do you know when it's time to switch out the kalk? How much do you use each time? Do you switch all at once or add smaller amounts several times before complete over hauls? I have the smaller of the 2 and very little experience. Have noticed the alk dropping but not the ph.... That just mean the corals are more happy so uptaking more? First they've seen kalk in my care.... thx for any insight. Love your channel!
Reefcleaners keep their inverts in fishless systems so no need to QT. FYI Only risk is if the inverts just arrived from the ocean but I'm pretty sure they have a QT process if I remember correctly.
Does anyone in the DMV (mostly Maryland) know where I can get linked in to these and other type of shows? This was my first event attending since starting my tank 2 years ago, and I want more
I love your videos, but you do butcher the English language 😂😂😂😂 but I understand you , And you said it not me 👍🏼what do you dose your system with ?And don’t feel bad I speak Spanglish 🤣😂🙏🏻
Haha I know I do! These days I figure as long as most people could understand me, I'm not going to stress over it too much anymore; unless I'm mispronouncing people's name, that I don't want to do out of respect. For dosing I use Kalk for most of the Alk/Ca needs; and then follow the Reef Moonshiner's method in terms of trace dosing. I also carbon dose a bit w/ Tropic Marin's NP-Balance.
“This is going really good”
** entire colony falls off
This comment basically captured the entire spirit of this channel. Amazing. 😆

Inappropriate Reefer, This made me laugh so hard, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Green leather looks like the green pineapple leather I have. If it is it’s an awesome piece to have.. nice work now I need a CUC order 😅

The peppermints at house of tropicals did really well and cleared my aiptasia

I see you have a starcki damsel. Gorgeous fish! I personally think it's the most beautiful damsel out there!
OMG you were at Reefing USA Washington DC?! So was I!

Love to see the tank doing so good! Hope all is well brother!

Everything from them is overpriced

Ever considered shipping corals ? I would love to get one or two from you the great inappropriate reefer!!

Looks dope 😎
The only thing my 1.5 yo daughter is interested in with my tank is my water change buckets and the test kits 😂
What light do you use

That is excellent to hear and very reassuring, thank you for the insight!
Would a good term be bartering. We swap corals to share what we got in order to get new things we don’t have.
at 2:00 how did you score coral from a public aquarium?
@telegraham has a friend that used to work at the public aquarium who was able to get some frags; he has had & shared that piece for a long time.
What t5 bulbs would you a recommend for a 4 lamp fixture
Does cutting the coral hurt it? Like does it feel it like we feel pain?
Are you sending these frags out????

Join the Northern Virginia Reefs FB group, it is very active and I get a lot of events updates from there! Also check out WAMAS & CMAS reef club!
FIRST.
hi!🎉🎉
Bro you literally gave away fish to get the nudibranchs!!!
Neon Green Nepthea. I have a huge one in my tank. Check it out.
I love it. (and subscribed for future update!)
Way to much on adds

Have you heard high school kids talk? Haha his English is fine
@@ryanwashington3330 Isn’t that the truth I could not attend high school in this age I would be lost with their lingo ✌️
