cool, personally, I kinda like the beeps, but I am old school hahah. Hey there! I will be getting an Asus strix RTX 3080 soon so should I follow the same process as you? I mean what if I just disconnect my GPU from my mobo and plug in the new one? And then install the Nvidia drivers? Will everything work fine? I’m upgrading from an asus strix 1070ti
I would recommend following the steps here in the video, removing the older video card, installing the newer video card and then installing the driver will leave potential for older drivers to remain, potentially causing problems.
ThisBytesForYou But I already have GeForce Experience installed, won’t that automatically overwrite the old drivers? When I install the new ones? I actually sold my GPU a few weeks ago and am waiting for my 3080 to arrive, so I can’t turn on my pc now😅
ThisBytesForYou Really? I did some research online and found that AMD processor don’t have onboard graphics? Will i still be able to boot to windows and install DDU? I have a Ryzen 7 3700x processor and an Asus X570-E gaming mobo
some do and some do no, the X series does not. Pop the new video card in, boot to windows, then download ddu, boot to safe mode, strip the drivers, then install the latest driver, like I show you in the video.
Great video. Has given the courage to do an upgrade myself for the first time ever. One question I had though, I am upgrading from a 2080ti to a 3090. The latest driver on the Nvidia website for the 3090 is 526.47, which is actually the version I am already using. Do I still need to do a driver clean using DDU in this case? Thanks again for the great videos.

It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. This question kind of kills me, but it's totally up to you if you want to do DDU. If you want to have potential issues and bluescreens and loss of performance, then no, you don't need to do this. If you want all of the performance this card provides, let issues and bluescreens, you want to DDU.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for responding. I can see from the comments you get asked this question a lot, so thanks for your patience. I was just slightly unsure about the need when you are essentially reinstalling the same driver. I will of course follow you advice. DDU it is. Will be getting a 3090 tomorrow and upgrading using your guide. I've never tried anything like this before but felt its time I learned. Wish me luck and thanks again.
Yup, a few times a day. Understand, when you install, install, install, install, install, install, you get lots of old files never deleted, you are patch, patching patching patching, like a pot hole, you keep filling it with cement, but its never going to be as good as a new road. With a pot hole, you mess up alignment, tires, water builds up causing different issues around the area, loose gravel, which causes other issues, and so on, same thing with drivers, clear the roads, lay new asphalt and be done with it, a new driver comes out,... OOOO, do it again, it literally takes a few seconds, but EVERYONE fights it so much, so much so that you can check out in this video, for the 4090, at 14:48 (ua-cam.com/video/_AJlNxuukww/v-deo.html) or you can watch the entire video and anytime my friend, I know it will work out well, as long as you follow those instructions.
Nice video, very straight to point. Although i'm wondering how the heck you're able to sit so close to your monitor. Reminds me of when i was a kid and would always choose to sit on the front row at the cinema thinking they were the best seats. Maybe consider getting a desk mount so the monitor is closer to the wall.
Yeah, it is kind of close, but it just helps to get more involved in the game I guess. As for a desk mount, I would be scared since it is a work bench, so I move it around a lot, I would be worried about flipping the table over, its 43 inches. Thank you so much for your kind words as well.

Thanks so much for your kind words my friend, they mean a ton to me.
I really appreciate you going through everything step-by-step. No skipping no assumptions. This really helps me since im still learning about computers.
Thanks my friend, I really do appreciate it, it means a ton to me. I try to help everyone at every level of their journey, I started once too and I had no idea, there was no google and no one wanted to help, so it was hard for me, so I wanted to make it easier for others with everything I have learned and everything I have worked with over the years both professionally at Alienware, Dell and Velocity Micro and then on my own. We were all new when we started, so don't feel bad, please always ask any question and I would be happy to help.

Hey is it easy to install the new cables into my psu? I'm upgrading too from 1660 to 3080 with lots more cables lol
@@Taylormane the 3090 and 3080 have the same amount of pcie connections, so it would be the same as you see in this video. The other requirement of course is power, how many watts is your power supply
@@ThisBytesForYou thank you for replying I just got a 850w for it
@@ThisBytesForYou it's pretty simple to plug the new cables into the PSU? I just noticed my 1660 seems simple with like one cable wonder if the 3080 will be a challenge with cables

That's awesome my friend, thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much to me. Thank you as well for the sub and God bless you as well.
JUST got myself an RTX 3080 Ti OC Aorus after waking up at 6am to rush outside and wait in the rain on the wet and highly windy Tokyo street till 930am to get my ticket and graphics card from the store. Now I just reached home, ate, had a nap, and about to install the new GPU into my machine until I came across your video. :) Thank you for this. I think I will also do the Display Driver Uninstaller method that you just highlighted but before that, I'm gonna double-check to make sure I got all the power cables, which I assume I should have as I got a 950w unit. Wish me luck!
awesome bud, I am so happy I could help you and I am so happy you were able to nab one, I might have something for you soon on that, maybe ;) and actually I will make a poll on it. Please do let me know if you run into any issues, I will always try to help where I can.
@@ThisBytesForYou I have a question. :) I want to put it to silent mode as the fans are pretty loud. Any way how to do this? I thought it would be in the main Profile setting via the engine driver but no option appeared.
@@EAprima You might want to check this out: ua-cam.com/video/lKDONiejqRs/v-deo.html as for silent... I mean, you could lower performance, the fans keep it performing well, maybe undervolt, but I never touch that.

Thank you my friend, I truly appreciate your kind words and support, it means so much to me.
My 3090 came in last night and just installed it right now. Thank you kindly sir for the very informative video!

@@ThisBytesForYou has the card crashed or anything? Thanks again for the videos
@@AhhB1ST0 nothing yet my friend, worried about it but being evga, even if it did have issues, their support is amazing, it's why I have bought so many. I am not biased but speaking as a customer, they have never led me wrong. Now working with Asus and the opportunity they are bringing me, I will soon see thier customer service as well. Thanks again so much for your kind words.
ThisBytesForYou You don’t have to worry about it crashing, that issue was being caused by the POSCAPS on the back of the chip. The FTW3 has the same 2 premium ones in the middle that the founder’s edition has meaning you shouldn’t experience any issues.
I get that, just of course still worried, because you know, it happens haha.

Tried to buy ones from Amazon which didn't work. Has to use a 8 Pin PCI-E cord but it's splits. Still connected two separated cables as you mentioned and it worked!
eeek, I never recommend connecting daisy chained/split cables, all straight cables, but not a special cable you buy, your power supply comes with it. What is the manufacturer and model number of your power supply?
@@ThisBytesForYou weirdly no they didn't come with extra direct cables. Just to clarify as well I got one existing direct 8 Pin cable already being used previously. Thanks my friend, you too
I actually sold my GPU a few weeks ago and am waiting for my 3080 to arrive, so I can’t turn on my pc now😅
Sure my friend you can, save yourself a few extra seconds not using ddu and later potentalially wonder why you are having issue.

@@ThisBytesForYou Upgraded to the 3090 today following your guide and no issues whatsoever. All running smoothly. Thanks for the help!
@@javi3086 Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you.
Nice explanation!
thanks my friend, happy you enjoyed it.
You are so kind🤗❤
no my friend, you are the kind one, thanks so much for your support and your kind words, it means the world to me.

@@dabd8175 awesome stuff my friend, so happy I could help you and I hope you are having some fun with it.
Great video! Is the installation process any different if we use GeForce experience? Can we manually download and install the new drivers from there
Thanks my friend, but please don't use the Geforce experience, I explain why I do this in the video. Please listen to what I am saying about the process I use.
Great video, thank you so much
