Lyrics:
words and music Robert Burns
Where hae ye been sae braw, lad?
Where hae ye been sae brankie-o?
Where hae ye been sae braw, lad?
Cam' ye by Killiecrankie-o?
An' ye had been where I hae been
Ye wadna been sae cantie-o
An' ye had seen what I hae seen
On the braes o' Killiecrankie-o
I fought at land, I fought at sea
At hame I fought my auntie-o
But I met the Devil and Dundee
On the braes o' Killiecrankie-o
The bauld pitcur fell in a furr
And Clavers gat a clankie-o
Or I had fed an Athol gled
On the braes o' Killiecrankie-o
Oh fie, MacKay, What gart ye lie
I' the brush ayont the brankie-o?
Ye'd better kiss'd King Willie's loff
Than come tae Killiecrankie-o
It's nae shame, it's nae shame
It's nae shame to shank ye-o
There's sour slaes on Athol braes
And the de'ils at Killiecrankie-o

UTTERLY FANTASTIC !! SCOTLAND ABOVE ALL .
I used to go to all their concerts in Edinburgh. Pure magic, especially as they stirred the Scottish blood in the way that no other national singing group I've ever heard could.
You do know there for the rebels AS LONDON CALLS IT .
I’ve seen them myself as a kid in Edinburgh playhouse fantastic turned me into a freedom fighter when I was a kid
This is brilliant. I love it and it brings back wonderful memories of my dad. He died when I was wee. He loved the Corries. I still listen to them and get my kids to listen also!
it's a great Scottish song
Please post the lyrics to this great version of this wonderful song

Rabbie Burns wrote the words, but it's unlikely that he wrote the tune too. Wikipedia states that the melody is much older. In fact four different tunes are associated with these lyrics.
Rather ironically, [given the lyrics and especially the subject,] this tune is actually a 'variant' of the old - English! - folk tune "Dives & Lazarus". It's not one of the variants used by Vaughan Williams in his "Five Variants of Dives & Lazarus", but a very closely similar version can be heard in the first of George Butterworth's "Two English Idylls."
Lovely tune .. pity there was no footage o the braes o killiecrankie though 😕
Gods big countrry
If you had seen what I hae seen !
You could write a book or two !
Good video , thanks for uppy !
My pleasure my friend, hope you enjoyed it.
Ian Russell This is the way I can start my morning and put energy into both soul and body. Great group - and the one heroic in suffering at his last; and a great song. The history is especially interesting to tie into the song

Iontach ar fad. Alba gu brath.
Alba gu brath from a 3:14 welsh Irish American Jacobite and descendant of Irish revolutionaries. We should gather in Scotland together and visit killiecrankie.
Apologies for the many typos
Its because gight was over putting the true king back in and not a Hannover on his sit
Why is this forget Scottish song 🏴🇬🇧
need help on verse 4, then brankie and lofe in verse 5 and sour slaes in verse 6 ?
lovet but crinfhsy
Beautiful you just listen to the words Veronica
Wasn't the battle of Killiecrankie just another example of Scottish people beating each other up?
No.
If the English didn't invite William over it wouldn't have even happened
Im pretty sure your right, It was scots against scots. Im sure the war was based on religion, the King decided that he was higher than god or something along those lines anyway lol.
@@craigmcintosh7231 you are on the right track, it was from the first Jacobite rising, which ended with the death of Viscount Dundee, it as more Protestant Vs Catholic and there were Scots on both sides
@@teedapo not as simple, Scottish religion at that time was predominantly Presbyterian Church of Scotland, James II/VII was Catholic and busily putting Catholics in high places,
