Wait this is a Blue state and a gun free zone. How can this be possible!!! This never happens in red states.Why is that?

She's raking in that gun industry money and making more ads of herself holding up her military-style machine guns that she uses for um, er, uh, hunting, yeah that's it, she needs them for hunting.
I'm sure she's readying herself to yell in the face of the surviving students about why we all need guns. You know, like she did to a survivor of the Parkland High School shooting.
We are tired of gun shootings at schools this shouldn't be happening at school.

My 12-year-old daughter was changed forever after being at the Michigan State Fair shooting on Saturday (where a 14-year-old was killed and another shot in the leg). She was only in the presence of a shooter and all the chaos - I can't imagine losing a child. We HAVE to change something and keep guns from easily being available to people who will use them for harm. "Thoughts and Prayers" have never been and never will be enough. My heart goes out to the families impacted by this.

True, true, but it's not just that. Other countries have similar struggles with MH but nowhere near the h-rate the US does.
We need universal healthcare in general. That's the only way to guarantee access to mental health services for those who need it, not to mention reducing the financial stress associated with paying for healthcare in general. Medical debt is a huge stressor for a society already on edge.
We needs less funding going back and forth between the gun industry and Republican congresspeople.

This is heartbreaking and it's probably a disgruntled student who felt that he was mistreated that he had to get back at someone. My prayers and condolences are with the families who lost loved ones.

Sad. What's wrong with kids today? As a teenager all I thought about was race cars and girls and not always in that order.
These kids are tormented by their school/social/ home environment. They are left with no options at school. They are labeled bad or troubled kids. They need alternative type learning environments and psychiatric help, not algebra 1 or 2.
Innocent kids are dying because of this and we are scared to even send our kids.

Over the last few years, my garden has been getting overgrown with weeds - I barely even noticed it happening, though certainly it was worse every day. So I started sending it thoughts and prayers to be beautiful again... but nothing good is coming of that, the weeds just keep killing off my flowers. Maybe actual action and effort are required.
When is this going to stop in the US? Every time this happens, there is “prayers for the victims,” and “We should have stronger gun laws,” and nothing is done. In my country, since the 1970’s, we have had VERY STRICT gun laws. Very rare if shootings occur here. In South Korea, the possession of firearms by civilians is strictly prohibited. Individuals can keep them for hunting, but they are kept at the local police station and must be obtained only after obtaining permission for use. And you must have a hunting license to possess it. Nobody here just has a gun because they want it. They have to get special permission, and have to jump through hoops, so to speak, just to have them. Their permits have to be renewed constantly , and re-evaluated.

Over the last few years, my garden has been getting overgrown with weeds - I barely even noticed it happening, though certainly it was worse every day. So I started sending it thoughts and prayers to be beautiful again... but nothing good is coming of that, the weeds just keep killing off my flowers. Maybe actual action and effort are required.
No parent should have to grieve just because they sent their children to school.

You know I really hate to see these tragedies. Especially when covering it nationally like this just, in a way, glorifies it to those who are emotionally unstable and breeds division between people on the matter of gun control. This takes and issue that is just in one community and makes it out like it’s an issue in everyone’s community.
Trying to push a narrative is the only reason this is on national news don’t kid yourselves. While these situations are horrific and tragic. These sort of situations should be managed at the local level because that is who this truly affected by them. Not broadcast on a national level like this.

Oh, if only it were just Georgia. Far too many USA citizens elect far too many representatives that collect far too much money from gun lobbyists. They don't care as long as it's not their children dying - but at the rate of more than 1 mass shooting per day, it will come to pass that the statistics will one day include their own city, neighborhood, shopping center or school.

I live in a country with some of the strictest gun laws (you can still own alot of guns but they are restricted).
As our history of Mass shooting and School shootings in approx 268 odd years we have had approx 90 mass shootings with approx 190 dead.
1996 was our one and only mass School shooting (none since) a year before Columbine. We managed to outlaw all handguns and tighten our gun laws to the point School shooting haven't existed since 1996.
I’ll never forget the Stoneman shooting. I was on a home visit. The TV was on in the background. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the banner scrolling and caught “Douglas” “high school shooting Florida”. My daughter was attending Douglas Anderson HS here in Jacksonville Fl at the time. I had to stop my visit and go outside to gather myself.
Nobody gonna actually ask why every school doesn’t have metal detectors at each door yet…cost too much?…they forget to put them in?..what’s the excuse at this point?
They would have to have an armed guard at every entrance. It may get to that in this country.
How about we remove the guns instead of installing detectors? After all, it's not just schools being targeted - it's grocery stores, movie theatres, concerts, bowling alleys, churches... does it make more sense to protect entry into EVERYTHING or remove the cause of the disruption?

I live in Texas..out here in the country we leave our doors open and feel completely safe doing it because the whole street are gun owners and if any of us see anything out of the ordinary we will protect each others property. And in my entire town the only crime that happens is drug related. ZERO violent crimes or robbery’s because folks know better.
The problem is the schooling system not caring enough to take it to congress that we need the proper procedures happening in these schools. Aka simple metal detector at entrance with one way in and one way out. Schools RARELY burn down. There are more school shootings than schools burning down so what is the point of continuing to put fire exit doors all over the building..these people do not care about our children enough to prevent this from happening with simple solutions. That is the problem, not guns.
