I don't know what the original length of 1/4" square used, but after forged down to 3/16" it took about 6 inches for the brooch part (I think thats what I'll starr calling the looped part) and about 4 inches of 1/8" round for the pin. That said you can adjust the length used to make the brooch and pin whatever size you want.
