    In jiu-jitsu this would be a killer transition to a leg lock.

    • @olemanshavadoo7893
      @olemanshavadoo7893 8 років тому +9

      i use this as a guard pass defense. people have a tendency to hold onto your legs when you're trying to get up. a fun thing that people do is a step over when you're holding the leg. I just pick them up by the leg and drop them on their back. Anyways this is a good option for guard pass defense if like hitting deep half and switch singles. this sort of completes those types of options.

      A Knee Bar or Heel Hook for sure. Also once you drop down and hook their leg, you take away their leg to counter attack you. So you could attack on your back, or finish the roll and then go for the leg lock for a more solid attack.

      There's so many great wrestling techniques that would lead to submissions. Great to have the wrestling in there to supplement BJJ

    This is a classic defense in Funk style wrestling. Ben Askren exploited the hell out of this his whole career. A complete folkstyle classic.

    Read a lot of comments & let me tell you, all moves are low percentage if you don't master the move. If you drill the move at least 50 times per practice, you'll master it.

    This move was my bread and butter i never went inside the leg to roll it over...When hitting it to roll to the right the left arm is best used along side the leg where the elbow can be used as force tool to pull against the calf hand goes over the inside of ankle and other hand grips the middle of the foot to have more control this allows to set up a peterson if the opponent attempts to step over also when moving up with he leg trap it on a table top to work towards a cradle if available

  • @kevinfuckingsullivan
    @kevinfuckingsullivan 12 років тому

    technically he has a single leg so it isn't locked hands. refs (if they know what they are doing) will only call locked hands if the person on top has control and is locking their hands around the waist/legs to stall. (this rule does not apply to pinning combinations though.)

  • @MrVarct

    Obi looks like he allow you get this move. Looks like he instinctively wanted to grab your ankle, but didn't. Just curious if trapping the ankle is a good counter.

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  7 років тому +1

      If you mean sitting back on your ankles to prevent an opponent from grabbing them it can work if your head is between the legs and you can lift him up. Still you have to drive forward and extend up and your ankles can be exposed. Yes Obi allowed me to grab the ankle because this is a demonstration!

    As a former two Time all American wrestler in high school back in the late 60s and 70s in the C.I.F. Southern section of California I feel I have a valid opinion on Mr. Kolat. I have never seen a more capable coach as an objective observer.Most coaches at the high school and collegiate levels are dumb and ignorant compared to him.Many coaches get their jobs because they know somebody or had a half ass career as an athlete. I learned on my own and seeking out advice from other successful wrestlers not coaches.

And I did a nice move on somebody I toss them over my shoulders and I landed on them and after or before that I forfit because somebody nailed me right in the head it hurt for a couple of days but now I'm fine.
