I've got scoliosis in my back and muscular dystrophy and I've been trying to find a good fishing handicap and rocket fisherman looks like something I can use
I have one of those I caught bass trout blue gill and catfish with it the biggest fish I caught on it was a 12lb blue catfish with 10lb line it castes pretty far in the water. It's the best fishing rod I ever bought
When I was a kid in the 70s, my uncle in Michigan lived on a lake and had one of these. It worked great! Caught rainbow trout with it! I always hoped that he would give it to me but he loved it too much. I might have to buy one now. Thanks for the review.
Still have the one my parents bought me back in the 72 or 73. Works pretty good for pan fish, especially in spots where a larger pole is hard to get through. Might have to take it back out and use it again for the fun of it. And yes I still have the original box it came in.
Good review. Ronco use to have commercials on tv for them back in the 1970s-80s. I begged my mom to buy me one and she did for Christmas. I loved it, i caught all sorts of fish with it, they're cool. I'm actually going to buy two of them to carry in my SxS so when i find a nice spot, i'm ready to go, without the hassle of long poles.
I still have both of mine from the 70's,a few years ago in North Dakota on the lake Sakawea I caught 4 large channel catfish on worms I found under rocks and logs, I aways keep one inside the saddle bags on my motorcycle, also works great ice fishing
omg!!..i had one of those in the early 70's..lol they were worth it as a backpack rod for down and dirty creek fishing...thanks for the video it brought back memories
If you're on a hike, and have a craving for pan fish over a campfire, the PPF is great, and easily stows in your backpack... Anything bigger though, you'll need a decent rod and reel...
.....BUT WAIT there's more, if you act now, we'll also throw in the one and only Mister Microphone, a $29 dollar value yours absolutely FREE but you must ACT NOW! Operators are standing by to take your call.
I can't believe they still make those. My brother used to have one of those back in the 1970s. Ron Popeil, owner of Ronco, used to sell them through his other company, K-tel.
I don't believe K-Tel was ever owned by Ron Popeil, though K-Tel did promote and sell a number of kitschy Ronco products and the two companies did cooperate on a number of occasions. The relationship between K-Tel and Ronco actually started between the founders of the two companies, Philip Kives and Ron's father Seymour Popeil. K-Tel focused primarily on selling to the Canadian market (where it was based) which Ronco had not penetrated significantly prior to that time.
I personally use the shakespear tavel mate, fits into my backpack (or back pocket if im wearing cargo shorts, it expands into a full sized medium lite 6'6 fishing rod. And ive been using and carrying it for 3 months. Best travel rod ive had.
People usually laugh when I pull out my pocket fisherman, right up until I start catching fish with it. The only thing I have really done with mine is to restring it with some 15 pound spider wire, the line that comes on the pocket fisherman when you get it will break if you look at it wrong. The one I have currently have is one of the newer ones, my original one from the late 70s started to decompose and the plastic was turning into powder, so I decided to replace it.
Another nice video! My youngest daughter got me one when she was 6 for fathers day! Mine is brown and my wife and her got it at walgreens for 10 bucks. I love it, it works really well and i've caught several trout with it! I keep it in my Vehicle Bug out box .....
+Grizzlytaco that's awesome! I need to get it back out and try my luck at a different spot! They are very handy for sure and the size can't be beat either! Thank you for watching!
Yeah the size is perfect, i leave mine underneath my seat in my Xterra! Always with me! I stii see them at our walgreens, i dont know if there 10 bucks still though. Also great for a BOB!
+sameold77 I know me too, but regardless of me catching fish that day or not, just the action of it and pulling out of snags etc, I can say it's a practical way to fish and it takes up no room. Thanks for watching!
bullshit feedback....if you can catch fish with a string and a hook, this works better, then again, you have to know how to fish....The fish has NO IDEA what kinda rod youre using!!!!
First of all thank you for watching and secondly I think you’re making the same point I made, it’s much easier than a hand line but my issue was for the price and size/room it takes up, a legit collapsible rod that is on the market now is much better. Sorry if you don’t like my feedback but no one demanded you watch the video either lol
Okay, I am confused. Bearded Burton, can you explain how at 6:06, you said when you pull the line that the bullet weight moves forward but the worm doesn’t? Thanks
Man I’ve had mine for a while now and I always thought it just never came with the bobber lol, little did I know it was in that compartment the whole time 🤣🤣
@@TheBeardedBurton you are right. Didn't realize how old the video was. I see the company went bankrupt in 2018. Too bad, I have wanted one for years and didn't realize they made them again just a few years ago.
Hahahaha Awesomeness….Just found mine from the 70’s…looked on Amazon and found one hahahaha…Went to UA-cam hahaha yours was the first Video hahaha Awesomeness
I love mine. Walk my dog around a "No Fishing" pond by my house. Convinced my neighbors that it's just a toy. The sunfish are MASSIVE and the "toy" puts up a good fight...
+Frank Trempe thank you for watching! I am not sure what is going on using a Rode shotgun style microphone and can hear it just fine on my phone and through my TV using the UA-cam app on Xbox. Not sure what else to do you know?
I like it because I ride my bicycle to the river and I can take it with me and easily ride my bicycle without a huge pole making it difficult to ride my bicycle.
+Feral Woodcraft it was a shot in the dark but now I see it as a very practical way to be able to fish, it weighs next to nothing to. Thanks for watching man
Again thank you for watching, I look forward to seeing your video on this and techniques for catching fish. FYI the video was about the product not successfully catching fish
nice concept. you'll die or starve waiting for it to catch fish for you though. This video is a perfect example of what a pocket fisherman can do for you.. It casts like 5 feet unless you have a half lbs weight attached. There is no action as there is no length to the rod. Be prepared to do strenuous calisthenics just to keep your lure in motion. It's a drag. its a flop. its a waste of money at any price.
That little gem's been around for over 50 years now, and it's earned its respect. It works well.
I used the original version in the early 70s when I was a small child. Great memories made with my grandfather.
They were fun for sure!
I remember when these sold on tv when I was a kid. Dad had one. We used to use it. Caught more than a few perch with it if I remember right.
Great review, thanks. I found an original at a yard sale in mint condition. I had no idea they're still being sold.
Thank you!

Got one when they first came out. Had a Johnson reel. Don't know if they still do. Good times.
This with a trout magnet is the best all around basic setup, great little rod.
2:07 that lil 1/8" raised plastic tab looks like it might break under the weight of a one pound fish

Great!
Took my first limit of trout on this at the Rahway River in NJ, circa 1976...
had one of those 40 years ago, been around a long time.
What happened to yours? Catch any fish?

the best video I have seen so far, would you please give me a link to buy one of these?

Always wondered how these worked
Seems like it would be hard to do a good hook set on a largemouth bass because it's so short
I can't get the drag to work on mine. Does anyone have any tips for this issue?
RIP Ron Popeil, Always be hustling!
parents had these when we were kids did a lot of fishing with them

Would be great in a bug out kit
Yes it would!

Been sold out for awhile
Back in stock but they're about 30 bucks now.

Ok love your videos
Check out my review of the pocket fisherman and tell me what you think! Thanks!

These are actually pretty decent. There's a video where a guy catches a rather large pickerel with it.
That things been out since the 70s
Duh
There’s on on the UK amazon for over £300 $360
great video .. you just got you a new subscribe 👍
Thanks a lot!
it is a great fishing tool

I wonder if these still exist?
Didn’t think this would get the view that it did, so who knows
Why do they cost $60+ now?
No idea, thats crazy!
The company went under and they are now considered collectible.
dig a worm outta the ground damn it....hot dayz, bass lay in the cool spots, you need live bait to get those lazy suckers to move!

I have one in my garage.
Good video brother, thanks for sharing.

No Texa s
how far was the line ??
+phi long la that I'm not exactly sure about, but from looking at it when taken apart I would say it's the usual amount that comes on your Zebcos
so, it is for left handed fishing?
No it is only for right hand

a telescoping rod would work much better and about the same size when collapsed
To get quality those cost more and break easier
I'm putting that in my golf bag

The Bearded Burton this is cool! I just bought a vintage one from an antique mall. Never used. Putting it in my golf bag as well. Thank for the vid.

Pretty funny but I have never seen anyone use a pocket fisherman.
