    Peppermint twist and the mashed potato were dances from the 1960’s. Love the zig zag borders!

    Great tip about starting your cut in the middle of the blade! I have a couple of rulers I need to replace due to knicks in the points from rotary cutter damage.
    Cute border!

    I love this idea! I collect stripes because they are unique for designs. This is just one more awesome idea for a stripe, besides putting them as a block. And i love that they are flanked by the solid so if there's an "uh oh" it's not on the stripe.

    Funny you mentioned cutting in reverse today. I've been working on a quilt with many little pieces and noticed this morning that I've been cutting backwards along the top of my ruler when squaring up HSTs. 😂 Double rows of just what you showed today would be a cute table runner too.

      I have to do a lot of online shopping. WA is becoming increasingly a "fabric desert." Doesn't help that to get to most stores I have to get a $50 ferry ride or drive an extra 100 miles each way. 😕. It gets to be an expensive hobby these days. 😢

    Cute pattern! I have some fabric with round wrapped up peppermints that this would work with, too. Not trying to be too picky but saying that the stripes are "perpendicular" only means they are at 90 degrees. It may have been more helpful to tell us whether you cut the fabric cross grain or with the grain. Sorry, 25 years as a math teacher, I needed to say something 8-) Thanks for the tutorial and pattern!

    Rather than having to cheat the triangle in a smidge, why not just cut the initial square 1/8" to 1/4" bigger?

    I have the materials and am in the process of cutting out pieces...one problem, the instructions say to trim the panel to 24 1/2 x 42 1/2. The actual panel measures 24 x 44, so I can’t make it 24 1/2 and if I cut the length to 42 1/2 I would need to split the difference to both the top and bottom and then the printed panel boarders would not match. Also there are no sewing instructions for boarder #1. Luckily I have a bit extra fabric so I will make the zig zag first. Then create boarder #1 so the zig zag boarder will fit and adjust the length of the stripe to fit the sides...and I couldn’t find any updates on the Michael Miller project updates. Thank good ness I have a bit more length of the stripe and can adjust boarder #1 to fix the problem

    I would like to use the peppermint twist block on the side, too. Not just the top and bottom. Need help figuring out if that's even possible. I don't know where to start when figuring out the math. How many blocks per side?

    • @makingitfunwithmichaelmill8161
      @makingitfunwithmichaelmill8161  4 роки тому

      Possible, - well anything is possible, but it will affect the horizontal borders too, they are 5 1/2" and the verticals are 4 1/2" wide. You will need 9 Zig Zag blocks per side to fill in the 45" and some more of the white strips to fill in the spaces that do not quite work out, hehe
