    Really pleased with my Masterworks parlour guitar, MPA66ESHB. The sound is developing nicely and the pickup is surprisingly good.

    I have an all solid early 1980s hand made Alvarez 5022 with a Martin-like headstock that is the lightest and most beautiful sounding guitar I've ever played. I sent pictures to Alvarez trying to pinpoint a year, and they misidentified everything about it. I think that they resent their vintage guitars.

    I love the sound of Alvarez guitars! I think Alvarez resonates more than any other company price point series vs series every time. Really under-rated guitars. But to be honest I don’t like all the mother of pearl type rosettes and bindings and super glossy finishes that the newer stuff has incorporated. Especially in the masterworks and Yairi series.

      Thank you, Sean! Appreciate the feedback. Which Alvarez guitar or series do you like the look of most?

    • @brucejohansson9552

      I concur with Sean. I bought Masterworks Elite in spite of all the bling because it has all the specs I was looking for which no one else has. The guitar plays and sounds wonderful but the thick shiny top reminds of plastic covering on a piece of grandmas furniture. I’d rather more sound and less protection.
      I’d love my guitar more if it had a simpler finish like the AD Chris is playing in video. I’ve even thought of sanding top finish off. The Alvarez Series with the ALVARADOS is informative and fun.
      I think Chris & Co. are doing a fantastic job with explaining how multi faceted the physics of guitar
      are.

      @@AlvarezGuitarsOfficial thats a fun question! My favorite Alvarez guitars are the masterworks. I haven’t played a Yairi but have definitely dreamed of owning one!
      I prefer acoustic guitars that have a lot of volume, a balanced tone with slightly more low-end, and are “humble” looking (IE less gloss, less mother of pearl, etc)
      Currently I think the DYMR70SB is the most beautiful guitar Alvarez makes, although I don’t love the pearl rosette. I also think the FYM60HD is stunning looking. But haven’t convinced my wife that I need another guitar in that price range yet! (Some day for sure!)
      I’ve owned 3 Alvarez guitars. I still gig with my masterworks MD95 from the early 2000s (which is the best sounding acoustic guitar I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had Taylors Gibsons and Martins), an Alvarez Masterworks Parlor MPA66ESHB (had for about a year or two and then sold) and I currently also have a AMPE915EAR as a couch guitar.
      Love the channel and love the guitars. Alvarez is making an incredible product at a shockingly good price!
      Cheers!

    I've had my MG60BG for a month now and i absolutely love it the sound is unreal for the price, it looks beautiful, finshed perfectly and the neck is amazing. On a downside i've got a few high and one lifting fret, gotta pay a luthier £85 to sort it out

      Hi Floyd, we're sorry to hear that, fret lifting is rare but can happen in any guitar, and it could be for a number of reasons. @@curtthompson8920 I prefer 80/20 they definately sound better on the guitar when new but don't seem to last more than a couple of months of normal use before they go dull sounding, the phosphors don't have the initial big sound this guitar is capable of but keep sounding good for longer. As for the gauge my guitar definately responds well to 13's, big and bright and room filling but as you probably know are not as easy to play certain styles on. I'm using 12's at the minute but on the next string change im going back up to my favourite Martin Authentic 80/20 Bronze 13's.

    Love that shadow burst masterworks series!!! Same finish as my 12 string looks as beautiful as it sounds. Killer job explaining the differences for the series. I’m looking at the artist series for my next Alvarez purchase. It will be my 4th Alvarez and I still own the other 3. I want the artist series with the beveled arm rest in shadow burst to Match the 12 string but will gladly choose a different finish if it plays better. I would never sacrifice playability and sound for good looks. Luckily most the time with Alvarez you don’t have to choose. You guys make awesome instruments and that’s why I keep coming back.

    I love Alvarez guitars and have owned a good handful over the years. My only complaint with these new masterworks series is there seems to be an issue with poorly set necks. I’ve had 4 or 5 md60bg models come through my hands and every one had a poorly set neck or humpy frets. I kept the most recent one because It sounded so good. I had to heavily sand some of the frets near the body to get rid of buzz.

    • @AlvarezGuitarsOfficial
      @AlvarezGuitarsOfficial  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment @Acoustic addiction. Our neck sets are very consistent. However, what is more likely the case is that the top has moved through either a lack of humidity or too much. In your case it sounds like the top has contracted which has created the perception that the neck angle has changed. This is another great topic to address in a future Alvarez TV episode!

    • @acousticaddiction7719
      @acousticaddiction7719 2 роки тому

      The neck hump, or slump, didn’t change much from winter(35-45% humidity) to spring(50-55% humidity). I parted with the md60bg yesterday and hope to find one in person someday, rather than online.

    Bit Confused
    Please Explain why 3 layer laminate Yairi WY-1 is considered a superior instrument over Alvarez all solid Masterwork MFA70WCEARSHB
    as an example. Considering tone and response

    • @AlvarezGuitarsOfficial
      @AlvarezGuitarsOfficial  2 роки тому +5

      Great question, Bruce! Many players, including Joe Bonamassa, choose the WY1 because it is not all solid which means less overtones and projection, and they prefer that for live work. Not all laminates are equal.
      The main impact on price is labor and time. Alvarez are made in a manufacturing setting, while Yairi are handmade in a workshop setting by luthiers. With Yairi, even for laminated models, you’re buying a handmade guitar. This would be a great topic for an episode…. Thanks for the feedback! Always happy to answer your questions.
