Going to Holbox for my 4th time this May 2024! Here’s my 2 cents on Holbox. I would skip Cenote Yalahau and bird island, and go for Cabo Catoche which is a bit pricier but an amazing place! Trust me. Don’t forget big repellent!! Mosquitoes are ruthless here after sunset. Visit the Holbox Animal Shelter! You can walk a dog on the beach, i usually donate money or pet food for them. I love cats, and they do have an enclosure for you to be with them. The locals have nice restaurants and are way cheaper than these “Tulum like “ restaurants. Las Panchas, amazing seafood ROOTS for the lobster pizza Tacos: La Chingada Viva Zapata! ALMA Bar has a nice rooftop pool and the highest viewing point on all the island You have see all sunsets when you’re here on vacation. It’s a must.
Going soon! Would love to hear more on your thoughts about Cabo Catoche vs. Bird Island/Cenote Yalahua. We want to do one excursion with six adults and a 5 and 7 yo.
i spend a week there in 2015 and it was so quiet and peaceful, just the kind of vacation i was looking for, looking at your video, i'm sad that bunch of new developements has popped up. it doesnt look very secluded anymore. im probably not going back now that so many more people are going there.
Spent a lot of time with the locals. It's a mixed bag of "don't fly" and "if you know how to fly respectfully (i.e. outside of the areas with lots of bird nets, blah blah" then fly). that's the honest answer!
In all of Mexico don’t drink the water don’t brush your teeth either tap water. Same for street fruit juices I avoid them because they probably aren’t using bottled water.
