    This video was made in good fun and obviously I know the Nifty Fifty is it’s own little thing; so please chill. As a Micro Four Thirds user, the Lumix 25 mm F1.7 is a great little lens that won’t let you down, and the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster f/0.95 has been a cool lens to experiment with and the technical mistakes I have made with it have helped me learn so much. Thanks for checking out this review vid!

    Natalie, where have you been? I have been watching video after video of reviews and yours is absolutely the most useful. You did not waste our time, you didn't bog us down with a bunch of scientific jargon, and you provided real examples of the lenses in use. Thank you.

    I agree about the Mitakon. It sounds way better on paper, comes in a funky presentation box and then as long as a subject is framed in the sharp circle in the middle, everything will look gorgeous. In practice…just get a Panny or Olympus prime!

      The Mitakon is a lovely lens in its own right, indeed. And I also think it wise to get an autofocus lens first :)

    I went with the 25mm since it was the only lens I could get delivered next day for a short notice shoot. I'm really happy with it *IF* I can control lighting in some way. Even a small LED panel is enough for conversation distance video. But if you are at the mercy of whatever ambient lighting is around, the ability to go down to 0.95 is a huge help on M4/3.

    • @NatalieRosellaBoonzaier
      @NatalieRosellaBoonzaier  3 роки тому

      I agree with you on that. The 0.95 is a nice help in low light :) Do you only shoot m4/3?

      @@NatalieRosellaBoonzaier so far yes, I got into photography with the GH4 and now the GH5 so that's all I've owned at this point. It does everything I need within reason, though I have a suspicion that in the next few years full frame in the 4/3 sized bodies will become much more prevalent. Right now it's way out of my price range to start all over with new lenses etc.

      @@millionjourneysfinance Right now I am in a similar boat to you. Are you thinking of sticking with Panasonic or will you be moving on? As it stands for me, I am so accustomed to the Lumix interface that I can navigate the menus and options without thinking. So I think I will move to the L mount when I make the shift to full frame. I have my eyes on the 24-70 f/2.8 and the 70-200 f/2.8 - I am hoping that by the time I make the move to full frame, those two might be a little less pricey. But I am not there yet. Too expensive.

      @@NatalieRosellaBoonzaier I just got the GH5 so yea I won't be buying anything else for a while. Being able to use all my same lenses and even the same exact battery makes life so much easier and now I have a B cam which opens up a lot of options. Even if I was willing to move up to something like the S1H the lenses are so expensive that it's just not feasible right now. Waiting a couple years seems to bring prices down by about a third to half and most cameras up to about 5 years old are still perfectly competitive for making high quality media for both personal and professional use so I'm not in a rush.

    The magenta tint is probably chromatic aberration. Id imagine the mitakon has less contrast wide open too. Using a 1.2 55mm nikon with a speedbooster on my gh5 and i have a similar magenta tint wide open in high contrast images. Fine stopped down or in low light.
    Great video. Might finally pick up the mitakon.

      @@NatalieRosellaBoonzaier I have the Olympus 25mm 1.8, and came to see the difference in DoF and niceness of the bokeh. I wanted to win an auction of the Mitakon earlier today, but lost it in the last seconds. It went for like 110$, crazy cheap 😆
      It seems nicer to manually focus with the mitakon for video. When I smoothly turn the focus ring on my Olympus-lens, it still kinda "steps" in focus, I'm guessing because of the "by-wire". Maybe the Panny is better.
      All the best!

    • @NatalieRosellaBoonzaier
      @NatalieRosellaBoonzaier  3 роки тому +1

      @@maxbroden2053 I know you didn't ask for my advice, but just in case: if the "by-wire" is an annoying factor for you, the Panny won't be much better, I don't think. The Lumix is nice for photography with the autofocus for sure :) but the more I use manual lenses, the more annoying the by-wire is becoming, especially for video. Sorry to hear you just missed the auction - best of luck for the next one!!

    this is like actual professional high quality. Impressing, definetly deserve more views.
    Maybe a bit of help from the view of someone whos watching: I think the music is a little bit too loud and your voice needs to be a tiny bit more stronger and enthusiastic. Just a tip, maybe you want to take it into consideration. But I'm honestly just petty picking

    I’m wondering how they compare to todays iPhones with the 24-26mm equivalents in the 12-13 and 14 iPhones and the AI that they use. Personally I’d rather shoot with my GH5 but as they say “The best camera is the one you have with you at the time”. I did an anamorphic test with my 13 Pro and a Sirui 24mm and the difference was negligible when posted to you tube. These phones are getting ridiculously good in the 25mm range
