Friend can you tell me why the pilot flame must always be light? Why not each time you use you open gaz valve start the pilot and go on? I cant understand that. Its not dangerous?

Best quality fireplace do have the flame that go off but I would not say it's more secure. Having a flame garanty you that the gas that come in the fireplace is burn. Imagine if you don't have a flame and that there is a leak.

@@HowToPM even if you shut off the valve? I say that because a moved into a house with a fireplace but we dont have thw switch on the wall to turn on and turn off. So thats why each time we will use I open the valve and put on pilot and start everything. It can be that way? Thank you!

@@fredlabad You can leave the pilot light lit the whole winter season. For instance here in Arizona, the pilot light stays lit for about 3 months. Then we turn off the pilot and turn off the gas valve until about November.

@@len9483does this add alot of cost to the gas bill or no?

@@MStar10 I would not say 'a lot'. but it does cost upwards of one dollar per day to run JUST the pilot light (flame). Some places (countries) will be less.
