I took that title to heart 😭 great video
ha!
The trickiest part of that intro riff, for me at least, is that it starts on an upstroke, which can throw you off if your brain is used to coming out the gate with one or more downstrokes when strumming. It’s not imperative that the riff is played that way - Cobain himself tended to vary his approach to the strumming pattern when he played it live, but for anyone out there trying to play this song _exactly_ as it sounds on the record, starting on an upstroke makes this simple power chord riff kind of a challenging strumming exercise.
Don't do that 😉
Excellent topic and great way to break it down.
Cherub Rock is a super good song to practice this as well

I met Kurt Cobain in 1990 at a Melvins show I went to and didn't know who the headlining act was. I had just been saying to my gf, "Nirvana? What a gay name." A little while later I was speaking to Kurt and luckily I didn't mention my opinion on his band name again until he went on stage later and I figured out who Nirvana was.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 you should've told him it was gay
@@JaMeshuggah I know, it probably would have made for a better story. I actually liked the band once I heard them, but in the moment that name sounded pretty gay.
Hey man could you make a video on how to make chord progressions and build verses (to make a song) like adam jones does?
what did you call them?
This is interesting because I’ve always come from the Metallica school of downstrokes all the time if you can get away with it. Consequently I such, especially at solos
Always feared learning this bc I’m sure Heroin addiction would follow and ugly plaid shirts 😂
I missed the H train but I can't say the same for my flannels.

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Only reason my opinion curt even famous was his death . Grunge did nothing for me
I knew another guy that didn’t understand that picking direction effects the way the riff sounds.
Lol is that guy deaf?
It's okay, I know a lot of people that miss the point.
daughters of the northern coast
I thought it starts on an upstroke
I think it does but that's not the point of this video, which is to teach proper strumming and rhythm techniques to improve your sense of timing.
Easiest riff
Yes it is. Which is what makes is good for locking in good strum and rhythm techniques (that will carry over into more complicated ideas)
@@axeofcreation I am absolutely blown away you responded. Thank you for all you do man. The Meshuggah videos are my favorite and tool of course
He disappeared again
I didn't, Posted an update on Friday. Video coming this week. Was sick then had a death in the family, couldn't make videos.
