From Japan Thank you for your wonderful explanation of BAND-MAID. In February 2020, when COVID-19 was spreading, I found BAND-MAID while living at home. After giving up for almost 30 years, I found my favorite hard rock and regained my passion for music. Their songs are great, but after learning about the growth of the band and the personalities of the members, I came to like them even more. They are a band that trusts their members, values their fans, and works together to make each song better. The next new song is unpredictable and that's the band to wait for. For the first time in my life, I joined a fan club and attended a rock gig. This year, I plan to participate in the Hiroshima Live in September and the Yokohama Arena Concert in November.
That is quite the story! Thank you for sharing. Yes these girls have nave the band what they are because of their values. Yes they are ridiculously good musicians but that's not the only thing a band needs to succeed. Glad we found them🤘🏻🖤
Absolutely! Holy crap! I've been listening to the band since 2018, but never dove into their history. I already had huge love and respect for them, but all this has blown that through the roof. I CANNOT WAIT for them to tour Australia!
Miku is a driving force of the band since saiki is shy , miku thought saiki not be shy and every time thier is an interview saiki is motivated to do it and now able to smile and talk beside miku, kanami is always giving a challenge and I hope kanami would care about her health coz she so dedicated on her craft , I wish that she may have a long break I've been sad about she's going right now during her 2022 tour she so exhausted ... I wish for their good health
Yea all these girls should keep up with their health and fitness. It is so important for touring musicians. Kanami's doing better this year. Hopefully keeps taking care of herself🖤
Wonderful report Ramona ! Your delivery is fast paced, informative, and energetic. Fine editing makes this even more apparent. Your attitude is not the least bit contrived. You seem very warm and sincere. I appreciate your efforts at trying to respond to all comments. Band Maid has been a revelation for me ! A tonic in troubling times . ❤️🔥
as i always comment when ppl say "wow they have talent", YES they do but they sure work their ass off and you hear their progress and evolution on each album and i am happy to have witnessed it^^
Another amazing video with plenty of details to enjoy. My respect and admiration for Saiki has only continued to grow over the years. Her believing in Kanami's songwriting is a lot bigger than I think people realize. Kanami was turning in songs weekly for 2+ years and they were all being rejected, that is a huge blow to deal with but with Saiki reinforcing Kanami to keep pushing to do it made a huge difference. Along with being the conduit of support for everyone else, her opinion matters to the best of the band and is a driving force behind what they create, even if she does not write lyrics(she does now) or create music herself. Her stage presence and demeanor on stage have improved over the years. I am glad they kinda dropped the tsundere/cold aspect they seemingly kinda pushed on her. Common misconception to see when she looks bored during interviews but on stage Saiki has FUN and is always smiling.
Glad you enjoyed it. It's true, I think the biggest stage transformations are Saiki, Kanami and Misa. Eitherway they are absolute pleasure to watch on stage and a hoot when they're by themselves. I've watched a lot of their interviews and find that hosts constantly ask the same questions. The Japanese interviews were the best, they asked different questions but the others... zzz. I'd be bored giving the same responses constantly too lol.
That was excellent thank you! Just one thing, "Thrill" was originally released as a b-side of their first single "Ai to Jōnetsu no Matador" in 2014. It appeared on the "New Beginning" album in November 2015 long after the MV had gone viral.
@@GymRockCrew When the label planned their first MV it was supposed to be the single's A-side "Ai to Jōnetsu no Matador" but lucky for us it was the band that insisted it be "Thrill" as it was closer to the sound they were after. Without that decision there may be no Band-Maid today! I actually love "Matador" as a song but "Thrill" is a way better choice for a debut MV.
Yea I read that. There was another choice for their debut MV, like you said but Thrill was doing well at servings, plus the girls felt like this was more the sound they preferred. Well done to them. That decision was a turning point🖤🤘🏻
Lovely to see somebody at last give a seriously informed perspective to arguably the best band around. They are unique and have evolved and amazingly keep getting even better. Saiki and Miku are now a double act when it comes to interviews. They did a radio show together and a lot of credit has to go to Miku for managing to get all the band out of their shells and just relax and perform. When in concert they do enough to make each song different from the recording so you never feel a song is stale or worth skipping. Thanks for making both parts interesting and well researched.
They are absolutely unique and keep working hard to improve themselves. Love their sound, their personalities, and their dedication. Thanks so much for watching🖤
My god, this was excellent! Your breakdown of their personalities was on point...especially Saiki's. I share the birthday with her. Also a proud, often sullen, but aiming for the stars personality. At least that was the starting point for me as well as her. Never felt so understanding of Saiki, when going to their concert in Paris, 1919, Le Trabendo. In the middle of the concert, she turned to the audience and said she had something important to say....and then she said " I LOVE YOU" . Goosebumps moment. It's very unjapanese to be this direct. But to me, she let go of all fears towards the audience. I can safely say, I live for moments like this. Thank you so much, you made my day with this!! ❤

It's no wonder the maids have never had a lineup change. I wouldn't leave a group like that either. How well they all get along both on and off stage reminds me of Wagakki Band, only they have eight band members. Saiki having to have surgery on her vocal nodes reminds me of Marko, formerly of Tarot and Nightwish, and how he had to have the same surgery, only his surgery actually didn't go well and he had to re-learn how to sing. Russian singer and horrific abuse survivor Diana Ankudinova was developing some of those nodes, but her vocal coach was able to catch it in time and get it remedied with non-surgical treatments. She would make an _excellent_ topic for one of your story videos. Good work on the research and editing as well, plus your storytelling technique and pacing are fantastic. I've subscribed. Also, that guitar behind you, what brand is it?
Julie Andrews also never recovered her singing voice after her surgery. She says she was misdiagnosed; she never had nodules and never had cancer. She was 60-something, not 20-something. A very scary prospect.
This is great info, thank you so much for sharing. Didn't know about Marko... or well any that you've shared. Such a nightmare for vocalists. I'm definitely looking this up🖤🤘🏻Also, guitar is an Epiphone😅
I appreciated your point of view on the fact that they share ideas and their experiences in order to preserve their physical health. Mens sana in corpose sano. The long tours and intense concerts have caused them, in the past, injuries and traumas that could have jeopardized their careers. They give a lot of energy to satisfy their public and we do not measure enough that even if it seems easy for them, it is not. Thanks Ramona.
Absolutely, touring musicians have to be like athletes taking care of their mental and physical health and fitness otherwise they would not have the strength, stamina or endurance to perform these intense shows. Also, staying fit helps them avoid injuries like you said. Thanks for watching and commenting🖤🖤🤗🤗🤘🏻
Ramona, Thank you so much for your respective on Band Maid. You did a great job of concisely recapping the group's formation and history. Your intelligent and articulate explanation of what the Band is a winner. I don't have a favorite bandmember because they all have their individual importance to their music. It is even hard to list my favorite songs. They all have their value. Ramona, again thank you. I am now a fan of yours.
I caught onto Band-Maid in 2014, finally getting to see them this year. Their career has been beyond impressive. Of all the transformations in the band, Saiki has definitely seen the most explosive growth in skill, talent, and contribution. Her stage performance was definitely the highlight for me. The whole band is amazing, and they keep getting better. Great video(s)!
It's been such an amazing journey to witness. I remember Saiki preparing for her surgery. You could feel the nervousness in the band, just from their words. When she came through, the relief was palpable, and the revitalized energy became unleashed. I'm definitely excited for the future of Band-Maid! Again, excellent work on these videos. You can tell you really did your work!
Man, that must have been such a tense time for the band. So glad everything worked out well (if not better) at the end. Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate your comments too🤗🖤
Wonderful documentaries. It's really important that people understand the magic didn't just happen by magic, but through determination and hard work. I think they're not just one of the best Japanese rock bands, but possibly the best rock band in the world today. I grew up on the Beatles and everything that came after, so my opinion doesn't come lightly!
Absolutely and they're not a new band. People tend to see the tip of the iceberg when they've actually been slogging for years. Thanks so much for watching and commenting🖤💪🏻🤘🏻
Very good documentary. Your editing is very smart and captiving. I will follow your The Warning documentary as well. Thanks you for your effort to deep dive into Band-maid lore, even knowing them so recently. Nice job !
You're so welcome. I've had someone ridicule me for stating fitness as being crucial to a band's success, but I'll stand by it. Performing musicians are athletes, and their health and fitness (both mental and physical) are imperative for their success on stage (assuming they have skill, lol)
Excellent!. This has been a fantastic documentation exercise and you have put it together in an exciting way. Thank you very much!. Many of the band's strengths lie in how they overcame their many difficulties. What is really unfathomable is, that out of all the possibilities, Miku would find at her first try such a different group of geniuses with such an unusual capacity for synergy. Miracle I think they call it. Anyway "it's a long way to the top if you want Rock & Roll"🤘🤘
Right?! Such a miracle that all the events in their specific lives just happened to be the perfect timing for them to come together... and they stuck through it for over 10 years. The universe did that on purpose🖤Glad you enjoyed it! Keep rockin'🤘🏻🤗
Wow, GRC you are really REALLY good at this! Thanks for putting in the work to uncover all of this, and then to produce such a polished and entertaining work.

That was great I posted it in my fan club. The best documentary I've ever seen. It's funny that you finished by advertising the WARNING because the WARNING and BAND-MAID are each other's biggest fans. They met each other recently. They have a lot in common and I think they feel that they have trodden a similar path. Showing the bands meeting each other wich happened fairly recently at a rock festival in America is about the only thing that would have improved this documentary. You really seem to have a natural talent for this. I hope you do NEMOPHILA next and DIH once they become better known.

I love your perspective info about Band Maid. What crazy is many people try to compare them with The Warning. Honestly, The Warning still way behind. Don't get me wrong, I love The Warning but the level is too different.
As a B-M fan AND a TW fan, I think the comparison is stupid. They are two bands with two different perspectives on rock. _AND_ they are fans of one another.
Because you mention,--and focus on-- the importance of musicians' fitness----you might get a kick out of the various back-scenes videos of the famous (nearly all girls) highschool band, the Tachibana Band, of Kyoto. Their normal (intense !) daily routines would just about kill most of us ! So---they energetically back up what you say. My favourite of BM ?-------there was someone else ,in their Comments, who said that he had tried to NOT have a favourite---------but Miku kept undermining his resolve !!!. Ha !----just can't help agreeing !....She is too charming to permit me a cool, balanced opinion !! Thanks for the intelligent and perceptive report.
@@GymRockCrew Ah, you're right,of course. Well, maybe that makes it easier----got to be Miku in that case !---Come to think of it: --Has there been any other case in musical history where the band member learned to play AFTER being already up front in the band??? ..Miku may be a first...

Maids and maid culture have been part of Japanese pop culture for decades. Other bands have used maid imagery in the past, but Band-Maid was the first to use it full time as part of their image. Akane is probably the most outgoing of the group.
Yup, I had a few more videos on other bands who've used maid outfits in the past, but only used two here. Glad BM succeeded in pushing that concept out🤘🏻
@@GymRockCrew probably more into the hard rock/more old school metal. The Warning is awesome and how I found you. I’m Gen X so I was big in hair metal, grunge in the day. Like mostly hard rock now. A7X, Volbeat, 3DG, 5FDP, Metallica, some Slipknot, Shinedown and stuff like that.

Huh. I find The Warning and Band Maid very similar in style and are two of the more recent bands I’ve latched on to. Thrill feels straight outta the 80’s to me, that along with Domination and Dice and others in that vein are like catnip for my nostalgia. Their newer stuff is different, but the World Domination album and before felt very 80’s rock to me.
She said they were COMPETING with numerous Idol bands. Meaning those were the bands they were competing with for popularity. She never referenced Band Maid being an Idol band.
There is no arguing that at least a couple of members of Band-Maid were in the idol system. There is also no arguing that they did what great rock ‘n’ roll bands have been doing since the beginning of rock ‘n’ roll. They worked their asses off, honed their craft, played gigs and grew. Just like American bands escaped their garages and the bars they started in, Band-Maid escaped the idol system and became the band they are today. They exemplify to me what a rock band should be, a unit that grew together from humble beginnings to be a defining force in the future of rock music.
@@dk6505npeace I agree with everything you said. But thats not what we are talking about here. If Band-Maid was ever considered an Idol band AFTER they were formed please let me know...
@@waynedahlen9655 I’ve heard comments (maybe true, maybe not) that they struggled in Japan because of a perceived association with the idol system. I didn’t mean to imply they were idols, just that they may have roots in it. Having songs written for them in the beginning, less control of their songs when they started. Honestly it’s makes their evolution more impressive because they had to fight to grow as artists.
@@dk6505npeace Okay thanks for the reply. I was only trying to correct the original commenter that GymRockCrew did not imply or say that Band Maid is an Idol Band.

Aww thank you so much! Yes I agree that each member brings value and makes bandmaid what they are today. I'm glad you're here🖤🤗🤘🏻
I caught onto Band-Maid in 2014, finally getting to see them this year. Their career has been beyond impressive. Of all the transformations in the band, Saiki has definitely seen the most explosive growth in skill, talent, and contribution. Her stage performance was definitely the highlight for me. The whole band is amazing, and they keep getting better.
Great video(s)!
Nice! Yea, Saiki imo too but also the band in general have come so far💪🏻💪🏻🔥🔥
@@GymRockCrew I hope you get to see them in person. It's a life-affirming experience!
I can only imagine🙏🖤🤘🏻
Awesome band not heard too much about band-maid good rock n roll 😊
They are very VERY good musicians. Hope you enjoy their music🖤🤘🏻
Very good documentary. Your editing is very smart and captiving. I will follow your The Warning documentary as well.
Thanks you for your effort to deep dive into Band-maid lore, even knowing them so recently.
Nice job !
Thank you so much. I truly enjoy learning about these amazing musicians🖤Enjoy TW🤗⚡️
Part1,Part2共に心から楽しみました。ここまでの調査、纏め、編集、動画作成のご尽力を尊敬いたします。
I appreciate you! Thanks so much🖤🖤
wow, thanks for this detail breakdown of Band-Maid ! Cheers !
You're most welcome🖤🤗
Thanks, Ramona, great job! I love the way you integrate topics of health with musical performance. It's quite unique among content providers.
You're so welcome. I've had someone ridicule me for stating fitness as being crucial to a band's success, but I'll stand by it. Performing musicians are athletes, and their health and fitness (both mental and physical) are imperative for their success on stage (assuming they have skill, lol)
Wonderfully researched and presented. Also an interesting and I think valid take on B-M history.
Thank you so much🫶🤘🏻
Now, you have my subscription. This is an absolutely amazing documentary. It belongs to the annals of history, especially the History of Band-Maid.

Thanks so much! World domination for them😅🤘🏻🫶
Again: very good job! - You are a genius in correctly summarizing band-CVs 👍
Haha I like that job description... now if someone can just hire me lol! Thanks for watching🖤🤗
Wow. Amazing research! One of the best so far about about Band-Maid
Thank you so much, I appreciate it🖤
Wow, GRC you are really REALLY good at this! Thanks for putting in the work to uncover all of this, and then to produce such a polished and entertaining work.

So amazing to hear the story of this amazing group ladies! They have gone through some serious struggles and overcome so much! I had never heard of them until now ans this definitely made me want to support them as they continue their journey. Absolutely wonderful story telling on your part! 😍
They're awesome! I'm so happy that this video has brought them another supporter. They deserve the success they've worked so hard for. Thanks so much for watching girl🤗🤗🤗🖤🖤🖤
You're now my favourite reviewer Ramona. Great video, great presentation. Thank you. Love the healthy lifestyle angle too.
Yay! This means a lot to me. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it🫶🤗
That was great I posted it in my fan club.
Thank you so much for this detailed comment. You're right lol, I missed a good opportunity on that ending. Even posted a pic of BM and TW together a few weeks ago on my YT channel😅🫠. Also, yea, my heart is in story-telling. I love sharing stories, especially of rock and metal artists, because they're in it for the passion. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate you🖤🤘🏻
Another group that are fans of BAND-MAID is Voice of Baceprot.
@GymRockCrew - Yep this one was even better :)
Thank you!
Yay! Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching🖤🖤🤘
Awesome documentary. I really enjoyed The way you presented Band-Maid's rise to "世界征服". Maybe one day you can do one for Band-Maiko? Oh, and I saw your mini me peeking out when you were talking about MISA. Unless it was actually an apparition of MISA which is starting to freak me out because of "The Grudge" thing. LOL
Omg that child appears to me in the middle of the night or in the wee hours of the morning with her hair in the front... shit freaks me out. My mind straightaway goes to The ring. Might've been Misa though🤔

Excellent video, Ramona. Very well researched. I believe it was Kanami who gave Miku guitar lessons.
Thanks so much. Yes, you are right! I did mention that Kanami guided her with guitar playing and that she would've quit if not for her guidance. Great gals 🖤🤘🏻
Impressive work, thank you.
You're most welcome... and thank you🖤🤘🏻
Good video miss. I've been following this band since 2020 and didnt know this. Hope these ladies get the broader recognition they deserve. Hope you see them live one day

MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
Thank you. Well, I don't think comparing bands in general is a good idea. Every band has its own strengths, limitations and essence🖤
IMO you're right!
Ooh I've gotta check them out! Also, no lol I wouldn't ask y'all to pick a favorite. I asked who, in your opinion has transformed the most😅🖤
@@GymRockCrew Ah, you're right,of course. Well, maybe that makes it easier----got to be Miku in that case !---Come to think of it: --Has there been any other case in musical history where the band member learned to play AFTER being already up front in the band??? ..Miku may be a first...
That's why Saiki and Misa have to stay difference side on interviews,
If not There will be an absolute quiet dark gloomy side by Misa and Saiki and a very bright talkative side by a Trio of chit chat pigeon.
Interesting, that's how they're balanced. Well atleast Saiki has opened up a lot since the early days🤘🏻🖤
@@GymRockCrew Both of them have open ed up more&more, Misa smiled more, made fun moments with audience more, Same as Saiki, and their English are better 'n better
Misa too yea on stage but she's still kinda aloof at interviews. Could also be that there are now 2 frontwomen handling that😅🖤
@@GymRockCrew yeh I think so, then she just sat there and smile lol
@nahyakah6428 😹😹😹yes!

😋
Maids and maid culture have been part of Japanese pop culture for decades. Other bands have used maid imagery in the past, but Band-Maid was the first to use it full time as part of their image.
Akane is probably the most outgoing of the group.
Yup, I had a few more videos on other bands who've used maid outfits in the past, but only used two here. Glad BM succeeded in pushing that concept out🤘🏻
Their style of music just isn’t my cup of tea, I guess I’m finally to old…lol.
I did enjoy both parts learning about the band however.
Haha! It's cool. What do you like listening to?
@@GymRockCrew probably more into the hard rock/more old school metal.
The Warning is awesome and how I found you.
I’m Gen X so I was big in hair metal, grunge in the day.
Like mostly hard rock now. A7X, Volbeat, 3DG, 5FDP, Metallica, some Slipknot, Shinedown and stuff like that.
@mjc1389 Nice... I'm old school too. Thrash is my favorite but I also enjoy women screaming at me lol. I'm going to a festival next week - Rammstein, Pantera, Slipknot, A7x (i think), Motley Crue, Def Leppard... and more. Beyond excited👏🖤
@@GymRockCrew That’s amazing, sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it…immensely!
Take care.
You lost me at idol band, as there is nothing about them that is idol.
