Gotta love that premium Star Wars price. An $80-$100 set sold for $170.
10-15 years ago, this would have been 90$.
Lego really got greedy.
Sad thing is, they know that they can get away with it.
@@ihatehandleupdate They also know all these sets will sell a lot in bulk and to "investors" who scalp the market.
It's honestly our own fault proving that it's no longer a kid's toy, it's an adult market.
Welcome to inflation
Nah i would say of you count Inflation/Licensing it would be 130-150
I just can’t get over that it reminds me of a juniors set. It just has a very simple, thin, basic look
This set is 💯% the price it is becuase of Mini Figs.
Imagine this as a UCS set.. what a missed opportunity
Give it a year or 2…. If that set sells….there will be one, like with the razor crest
4+ UCS set
I certainly prefer the affordability. Shame about mini scale vehicles wasting space that could be used for more building.
Not everything has to be UCS
The second "assault on hoth" nightmare
I'm still shocked that they made this so juniorized and not a MBS set lego just never fails to amaze me with their decision making. This really does feel like a slightly improved 4+ set. Probably gonna have to pass after seeing the detailed review.
yeah it should have been MBS with maybe a full scaled Y wing or at least a full temple with a large amount of sapce. even the artbook version was more spacious..
I hope that luke comes in a foil bag in the near future
Makes no sense, since the target audience for a Episode 3 set would surly be adults at this point in time... I mean, my kids loved Episode 3, but not anywhere near as much as later stuff like Clone Wars and Rebels. Plus then they price it at $170... I suspect we'll see these sitting on shelves for a long time being heavily discounted.
@@Beer_Dad1975 Think you mean episode 4 buddy. But agreed on everything you said.
@@adonis2418 LOL, yup my bad.
This really feels like a $70 set. And even that feels generous. They could've marketed it as a juniors set and nobody would batted an eye. Easy pass for me
bro what?
120-150
idk about 70 lol i think ur a little crazy or broke. it’s worth about 120-140
Dude there are 12 figs to be fair. Maybe like 130
@@thedoofusshow4613that’s what im saying
70$ is not generous in any way dude. It's definitely not worth that little.
Thanks for the review David. Personally I think this is such a missed opportunity. The modular design could have been the best selling point. Design the set so it is just a base that can be expanded with more than one set with no ships. Make the hanger entrance work with the current X-wing and release a new stand alone Y-wing. Then advertise as combo packs base and 1 of the ships which would in tern encourage multiple purchases. Imagine if it had been designed to connect as high as 4-6 if you wanted.
Like the Hogwarts sets, imagine if we get a X-wing with a hangar section , then a Y-wing with one of the temple's walls and armory onr something like that, B-wing and A-wing and so forth until you build up a biger temple. Thats multiple sales ensured for many many fans.
I was just gonna comment this 😂
This is like a one of those 4+ sets but huge.
Def looks like one, fits perfectly next to the 4+ Jedi Tempel
They were so lazy with that tree 😂
This feels like a 4+ MBS set lol
6:50 its coaxium. Its uses to make feul for ships
Great review!
I agree it could have been bigger. Perhaps we could get lucky enough to get a Master Builder Series version of it, the size of Mos Eisley Cantina.
A lot more can be done.
For children, too, a "base" is always incredibly successful. The playable death star interior you pulled up was my favourite set as a kid, because having many rooms in a playset base is just golden.
They could have honestly left out the Y-Wing, make the Base bigger with those pieces so it could fit the X-Wing or a Y-Wing to come, who knows. Still like a solid 7,5/10 for me, and maybe even higher for kids like my little brothers. I'd imagine they'd have a blast.
100% leave out the ship all together and really beef up the base a bit, do more on the tree, and add one more fleet trooper
So for Harry Potter they’ll do modular sets to build up the school but for Star Wars here’s a mid tier play set. I figured this would’ve been better suited as a UCS set or MBS set, like the Mos Eisley Cantina. Personally I’m bummed we have 1 Rebel Fleet trooper and 0 Rebel Honor Guards that we see in the ceremony scene in ANH.
The never released version of this set from many years ago is way better in my opinion. It has a better use of space and has a bigger ceremony space to pose all of the guards as well. They really should have modeled this set on that one.
I for one don’t get why they used the Solo movie head for Han, the one that was included in the Falcon microfighter set worked better, but I do like the smile on the Han head in this set
minifigs are the only saving grace 😂
170$? That's craaaaaazy.
i like that lego is giving ambassators the summer/september sets really early. it helps me decide what set i want.
The blue 'liquid' in the cylinder is coaxium. Coaxium is hypermatter that is essential for faster-than-light travel (SW universe gobbledygook).
And that water-cooler is suppose to be the blue milk Luke seems to love so much.
Nerd

@@Noodles-The-Hunter-Vanguard nah that's too far.
@@thegreatpiginthesky3904 It’s not. I’m telling you facts
@@Noodles-The-Hunter-Vanguard nah in telling you facts. That too far, get a life
It should've been the price range and size of the mos eisley cantina, kind of a missed opportunity.
I’m impressed they managed to make the old decade old prototype better looking than a brand new set…
This set def feels 6+ I think 4+ is a little harsh , But the set is def not worth the pricing, The minifig selection is nice but everything else seems a little lackluster.
It almost gives me Vader’s Castle vibes, just with the general layout of play and the tiny ship.
It's a nice set (except the tree which sucks) but £150 is too much for what it is. I'll wait for it to go on sale before I purchase.
The little blue piece at 6:48 is a coaxium , as in han solo à star wars story ... there was the same in the landspeeder set
I really hope there will be a rebel fleet trooper battle pack at some point
The Y wing DOES scale well to the Tie Advanced from Vader’s castle 😌
This is gonna be a great set! The tree though...
Nice review. I like the set more than I thought I would
I know people have their issues but I’ve wanted this Luke with detachable medal for YEARS and I quite like the Yavin build itself!
Since its so Modular, they could make out of it a Serie like with Hogwarts where they expend the yavin base with more Moduls and also Star Fighters what would be amazing.
7:42 It's probably an Easter Egg relating to blue milk. I feel like Lego isn't putting much effort into their SW line, this had a lot of potential to turn out with similar amounts of detail and techniques to the Rivendale set but it just ended up looking like an expensive 4+ set, I understand it needs to be a play set but I would really like if they made a masterbuilders line for Star Wars so they can really nail locations similar to Yavin 4.
A good playset for kids. 10 year old men would love it! Nice to see all the Y-Wings (my favourite ship BTW) but NONE of them ever have gotten the canopy right. It opens to the right. Lego are you listening?
That tiny stair build looks nice. Gotta try that as well.
Honestly, the scale of the y-wing and the more bricky look makes it look like a slightly updated 2000's design. I like that myself, as I feel Lego sets can get too intricate.
I would prefer the parts budget set aside for the y-wing go into the actual temple, as it seems a bit barebones and undersized.
I would have loved if we got this set without the Y-Wing, use those pieces to make the base bigger, then have a $50 Y-Wing set in the scale of the new X-Wing play set and tie fighters. Those rooms inside are super empty too, I wish there was some more in there
Im in love with this set
$170 is a little steep but with the employee discount through where I work it will only be about
120-130, so Im happy happy happy!
8:35 you mention the “shield piece area,” which is supposed to be a radar/sensor array. I think this is shown in the Star Wars Complete Location book, which is probably where they got it from.
Just glad to finally have Red Leader!
I really like it - I think it's a great set. The struts on the engines could have been longer, but otherwise it's all good. Except for the price - it's cheaper than the Cad Bane ship (the Justifier I think) in Australia by $10, so given that it has more figures I guess that there is at least one set that it is better value than.
Seeing that oic of the visual dictionary really brought me back, and now I really want to go find it lol. Good stuff 👍
Ten year old me would absolutely adore this set!
I was on the bubble whether to buy or not. Your honest review has helped alot, saving to cart, maybe one day, just not today 🤔
So this set really has a lot of room for Improvement
Maybe they could have lowered the price to 120-140 bucks
If they were to keep it the same price, then It could have a full-Sized Y wing or maybe just add a floor to the temple
Those 360' castles from the historical anchovies are my inspiration.
Just by looking at things, I think what I would rather have on my wishlist is a small X-Wing to be added to the set so that Garven Dreis has something to fly. Yes, more space for things, more minifigures, those would all be nice, but for the price of $170, I think a 100-200 or so piece small X-Wing would be sufficient for more play opportunities than a bunch of wasted space for admittedly empty rooms. There's a reason why the Rebel Base is so dark and cast in shadow in the movie, they just didn't have the budget to light a full hanger and do things in it, so aside from the briefing room, that's kind of the most you'll ever see of this place. Some visual trickery was used to make the Throne Room Ceremony, and hey, you have to include it, but with what is supplied, I'd say it's sufficient, albeit a bit cramped. No, what you really want is another starfighter because this base is primarily a hanger for all these ships, and while cool to include Garven Dreis, if you don't happen to have an X-Wing for him to fly, it's kind of moot including him if you ask me, even if he must be accompanied by R2-D2 as his astromech if they couldn't include R5-K6 as his droid.
That water machine thing is a Blue Milk dispenser!!😅😂😂👍👍👍👍 That is SO FUNNY!
I agree! I feel the set is missing the opportunity to be larger. Especially with some of the other star wars sets like the cantina
I really like this set, clearly the minifigures are a stand out but I really love the small Y-Wing build much more than I thought I would. Great review David! 👍👍
Enjoy your $170 y wing that cost Lego $6.
@@mynala110cmon man let a guy enjoy something
I see they gave R2-BHD a light gray trunk as opposed to dark gray/silver plastic, to keep the one from the UCS Y-wing version unique.
That price at 170 is laughable. I had a tough time justifying 100, but would have been willing to give them that.
Great review. Thinking of getting maybe 2 of these to build a more appropriate sized playset base that scales better with the current (or past) X-wings/Y-wings and then selling off the minifigs from the second set to cover most (if not all) of that cost. Thoughts?
I really feel like $150 is a pretty hard ceiling for a playset. In recent memory the justifier is the only other playset that went over this. I picked one up but not until it was on clearance for 119.
Dude…. No freaking way!!! I was JUST thinking about my celebration Luke and Han minifigs last night and how I wished the medallions were separate neck pieces you could remove because I especially love Luke’s outfit in that scene, but I thought “nah, that probably won’t be a thing” but holy crap, I might actually have to get this set now, or at the very least this Luke.
Cool set
I’ll probably buy this just for the figs. It would be pretty cool if someone made a bigger Yavin-IV MOC with multiple of these sets.
Now we want a Yavin 4 Moc from you
I think the radar dish shield thing is supposed to go on the crew transport if I’m not mistaken
As somebody who especially likes the Y-Wing, holy crap, it’s wierd how the Y-Wing can’t decide whether or not it’s a microfighter, and it takes the Gold Leader from the UCS equivalent(except for the head). The details it has in the base is somewhat good though.
It is kind of crazy that they are charging 170 for this and won’t even give the second astromech back printing.
Could you use two or three of this set to make a bigger and better version? It would be fun to see what you would be able to come up with.
Not a troll comment. But the 4+ A Wing that retired not too long ago goes GREAT with this set and any kid would love that set with Yavin as a gift. The A Wing looks great, scales very well with the Y Wing in this set, it comes with a green rebel pilot to round out the different types of rebels for the Yavin base, and the A Wing set even comes with a Yavin side build. And with a Y-Wing and A-Wing you have a proper fleet.
The A Wing is retired, but luckily it’s not that expensive right now. But I would buy now while it’s cheap.
The should have made this 350 master builder series his looks cheaped out to the max
this is truly a lego set of this year
I wonder if you mash multiple of these sets together how many it would take to make it look more complete and scale up the y wing to a good size
what do u think i should buy, the yavin 4 base or the possible future ghost ship?
Making this a Master Builder Series would've been amazing
The y wing is the best part of the set, and I wish they left it out to make the base bigger and better. I do agree with the 200-250 price for a better set would have been worth it.
Yes, the Y-wing rocks! I don't know why everyone is saying to ditch it. Nah, I'd rather get a ship with an expensive playset. It's not a lot of parts and really compliments the build. Midi scale is highly underrated.
I’m pretty sure that the canister in the bottom cabinet is supposed to be coaxium or hyperdrive fuel
I’m pretty sure it’s how coaxium was represented in the solo movie lego sets
I want them to make all the pilots moving forward with the actual plastic visors on their helmets. They look so much more substantial in my opinion.
Bruh I just keep on replaying the intro the box hitting the table is so satisfying
i wouldn't pay retail for this but this is actually a really nice set, would love to display my x wing and falcon next to this and might buy it when it goes for like 20% off
Hey if y'all don't like the Y-Wing, I'll take it. I love it whenever ships are small scale while still representing what they're supposed to be (microfighters don't count)
Those Luke and Han figures did an update with the previous versions with medals printed on their chest
They could of easily used the baseplate that they used for Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull set (where they return the skull)
i love the Y-wing
Your reviews never disappoint David! 12 minifigures for a LEGO Star Wars set is awesome 😍
Hey Brit! How’s BR-1T?
I’m getting that set!!!
Definitely bricklinking the figs I want from this set, pretty clear it isn’t work the $170 price tag
Awesome set great review
6:49 I think that’s supposed to be coaxium. Doesn’t really fit in the set but it’s the same build they used for coaxium in the Kessel Run falcon
I had said the same thing that you had said about it being bigger, but with the Spiderman No Way Home Statue of Liberty Set.
And I’m really about to buy this for two minifigs
Hey David I’m 12 and trying to decide if I should get the yavin 4 or at-te because I really want both but don’t have enough money what do you think?
I will give Lego credit where I think they deserve it. The mini figs are great and numerous, which makes me very happy, and the idea of building it with your family is amazing. I remember building the second MTT with my dad. It’s one of my happiest memories with him.
The droids head print is inclined, Luke, Han, 3PO and the Rebel Trooper still dont have dual molded legs and the printing quality is not as good as it could be. They dont any deserve any credit at this price...
At roughly 6:42 onwards you mentioned the bottle. I think the bottle is coaxium as it is the same build as the coaxium from the solo millennium falcon and would fit with the rebels need for the hyperdrive fuel
7:41 the watermachine is definitely a Blue milk dispenser
Feels pretty meh to me, which is sad because I wanted to love this. Good review. I appreciate your critical but not hateful review.
@6:47 that's actually coaxium which featured heavily in Solo sets
The small pece in the bottom drool is a energy cell
The luke face 🤯
Not a big fan of y-wing too, but finally they're using a new wind shield
This should have been a Master Builder set.
Have mixed feelings about this, but I still want it. Not the best I will agree, but it is a start. Hopefully we will have a UCS or Master Builders version of this set later on and I will get it when it hits shelves.
Definitely mixed feelings about the set, without bringing up the price issue, the set itself has plentiful pros and cons, love the easter eggs and small details, but i Definitely think the heavy hitter that will get people like myself to get it is those figures. Ngl would.have loved to have gotten the figures for brick world lol. Great video bro
6:47 isn’t that the coaxium things from the solo movie sets?
Would love an update rebel fleet trooper battle pack to compliment this
My feelings on it are so mixed. I've been trying to come up with alternate build ideas to justify buying it, like turning some of the rooms into their own dioramas or something. Between the mini figs and some of the other unique builds and pieces, it really has great potential to be better. I'm just not feeling the sort of "facade" front of the temple. Vader's castle looks a lot more complete from the front than this one does.
Will only be picking this up if I can find it significantly discounted. Shame, I was looking forward to it, too.
Decent review, that price is way too much but it is packed a lot of minifigs
