Thanks for your video. This was an issue for me on a recent trip to St. Maarten with my wife, my sister and her husband. We stayed at Oyster Bay, which has a nice beach. My brother-in-law and I snorkeled quite a lot while we were there. On the second to our last day, the wind picked up and created some "nice" waves. So I decided to go out and have some fun bouncing around in the water. I put on my mask, good fins, good quality snorkel and the top to my 5mm diving suit. I went out, close to shore and had my experience with the rougher surf and decided it was time to start back in. It began to get difficult to make any headway back to shore as the surf seemed to be preventing me from making any headway to the shore. So, I began to use more effort and push harder to make some headway. I didn't begin to feel fatigued, but it began to feel like I couldn't get enough air and began to breath "very" deeply. More deeply than I have ever breathed before. I obviously made it to shore but I felt exhausted and seemed like I couldn't catch my breath. When I finally took off my gear and sat on a beach chair, I was finding that I had a hard time catching my breath and began to cough. As I coughed I also began to cough up some blood with the mucus from my lungs. I believe that I could have had a heart attack or died from a lack of oxygen deprivation while I was in the water fighting to get back to shore. At least that's what if felt like to me. After reviewing your video I"m going to do a little more research about your recommended product. I will visit my dive shop and for any suggestions they may have and mention your reviewed Ameo product to them. I learned a valuable lesson from my experience, one never to be repeated again.
Wow DS. It sounds like you narrowly avoided a catastrophic episode. Glad you got through it ok all told. Let me ask tho, why a 5mm wetsuit? Is the water THAT cold right there at that time of the year? I mean, I surf all year round here in Australia (Tasman Sea) and I only ever need a 3:2 at the worst of the cold. A 5mm wetsuit would be soooooo much more cumbersome to swim with I cannot imagine snorkelling with one!
I am 72 years old. I live in Minnesota. When I go to a warmer water environment I still bring along the top to my wetsuit. It makes me feel a little more secure in that the suit gives me more flotation just in case I have an issue. The water at St. Maarten was about 80 degrees F. When I want to do any diving when snorkeling I'll leave the suit on shore. I'm a pretty good swimmer but try to stay cautious. Thanks for your reply and your reviews.
I love all your videos, especially the snorkeling ones, thank you for taking the time to explain them all so detailed, and please keep up the great work. I hope to snorkel with you one day
Interesting comparison. I've still to try the twin tube system over my single long tube snorkel, no doubt it would overall be less taxing on the lungs and chest muscles for breathing over long periods of swimming such as 1 to 1.5 hrs.
For sure, that's one thing the twin tube system provides very obviously over a single tube. A lot of people knock the concept, but if you can double the intake opportunity by having two tubes what is to lose? :)
I wonder why no other snorkel has the air that gets expelled out of the bottom so you only get fresh air. Know of any single snorkel solution that has this fresh air solution?
Thanks yaznool. It really is a stunning location!! I've encountered a grey nurse shark many years ago while snorkelling at Jibbon Beach up in Sydney, but nothing down this way (thankfully!)
They could fix this issue at least with the full face mask version by at least having a mouth bit inside that is designated for exhale breaths and your nose is used for inhale and that would be how it’s used breath in through the nose out through the mouth piece.
That's a really cool idea, Cjwelcome, however the moment someone "forgets" to breath in through the nose, you are gonna find yourself with potential disaster on your hands.
Mate great reviews on the products ae.. Came across your channel yesterday 🤙 just came to ask if you're familiar with ninja shark full face snorkel ? I'm looking to buy one myself. Cheers ❗
Thanks HelloKient, appreciate the support mate :) 🤙🤙 I was in talks with Ninja Shark for a review a while ago but the lead went cold so unfortunately I cannot help you with that one :(
*CALCULATION ERROR:* Your theory is not completely baseless that the full face mask has the potential to breath in your own expelled C02, as compared to the smaller chamber of the power breather (which would have less C02 to breath back in because of the smaller chamber). HOWEVER, what you might not have calculated is the _'actual'_ volume of each (the volume of the nose/mouth mask of the full facemask versus the volume of that rectangular chamber on the power breather). While the nose/mouth mask 'appears larger', you have to take into account that *your mouth and nose take up most of the space* inside that nose/mouth mask. In contrast, there is nothing taking up any space inside that rectangular piece of the powered breather. It is quite possible the very small amount of space between your face/nose and the mask of the nose/mouth mask is exactly the same as the volume of space in the rectangular piece of the power breather (or very close to the same volume).
Hello great review, subbed today ! I’d like to ask if the h2kb has the surface pressure issue in deep diving like other face masks out there , so that you can’t stay under water long because pressure is building up and depressing your face ? Or is it different by design or better compared to one tube ordinary face masks?
Thanks for the nice words and the sub! Yes, the HJKB does suffer from the pressure build up on your face as you descend. It should be noted, the mask is not advertised as one to wear if you are planning on diving under the surface, so keep that in mind.
Oh, I hadn't heard of Nani before! Bizarre. And nah, no extra playlist, but I have been slowly working through my back cataloge and changing thumbnails :)
We want best of both world. You can concept the best smoking mask and make your brand. You have the best experience needed for. I will be your first costumer coz I know that I will have the best snorkling experience ever happen
Any novice could drown with any device. And after about 30 min in a controlled environment, anyone that swims or learning can be competent with the power breather. And i say that being a "novice"snorkeler when i purchased it,but an avid swimmer in pools. I bought mine back in 2018 for a trip to the Bahamas, not only did i learn very quickly,I've been using it for training in the pool after the trip. Buy and use one THEN comment,it's only fair to the company AND potential customers

Finally another snorkel mask review
Glad you like them mate! :)
Can it be taken apart for putting in the suitcase after a holiday
Yes, the snorkel parts come off.
Will water sip in to the tube if you go down under the water?
No, it has a ball locking mechanism that prevents water entering through the tubes.
@@GivesAMinute cool, im planning to buy one of these so I will have a full face and just the regular diving mask. Thanks for confirming.

Do you know how exactly does the ameo one work? What happens if you try to breath when there is a wave?
I've made plenty of videos on the Ameo. If any water comes in the vents it simply drains out from the lowest part of the air valve.
I found this channel on accident and then subscribed :)
Thank you JA :)
You didn't mention what percentage of fresh air should we take anyway? I mean should it be 100% or slightly less is dangerous?
I don't know that scientific fact, so I didn't report on it.
Wow my dude U love the snorkel masks!
Hehe! I do!! :)

Have you seen this snorkel mask? It allows for equalizing the pressure when diving. QTECKNO Full Face Snorkel Mask. Thoughts?
Thanks Martin. I haven't seen it unfortunately, but I would like to!
@@GivesAMinute If you get the opportunity, I'd love to see what you think as the equalizing was a problem with the other full face masks. 👍
l see one big problem is in small tube water enter the locking madness
Actually, this doesn't happen.
Have you tried the Ocean Reef Aria Full Face Snorkel Mask yet?? If so, is it worth buying and how deep can you go under water with it??
I haven't reviewed that one Aaron so cannot really comment unfortunately.
can you breathe underwater with it, or do we have to stay on the top surface to get the air? Thanks for sharing !!!
Hi jay, you need to stay on the surface to get the air. Cheers mate :)

Well I don’t just mean a tube of course I mean a one way valve so people are not inhaling through the mouth a mouth full of water like a straw😂
Hmmmm, I think that would be worse, as the moment you try to blow through a oe way valve the wrong way you encounter an air lock.
