  • Outdoor 45 yard group testing and reviewing the newest QYS magnum pellets against the JSB heavies. With downrange footage and shot in a decent bit of wind for some real world group sizes.
    shot using a sub12 Airmaks katran that runs 11.5ftlb with bisley magnums.
    The results are quite surprising...

      I'd definitely look at the streamlines mate, the robust skirt and the head shape should go through the bsa mags nicely. Assuming you get a decent grouping batch

    I used QYS Streamlined heavy in my S400 and are extremely accurate. I wouldn’t go back to another brand in this rifle. Your right about their weight variation which surprises me with such a quality pellet. Shame they only make them in 4.49 and 4.5.

    Last week I shot my best ever with the QYS streamline, BSA Scorpion TS & a single shot Ultra SE. I use the Scorpion for benchrest at 25 yards & shot 98.7 after half a dozen sighters. To say I was blown away is an understatement, my usual pellets are Goldstars and found them the best match for my Beezers...
    As always, a cracking down to earth video!

    I have been using QYS domed in 9.56 4.5mm in my kral empire x with no mods and I’m hitting 1/2” spinners at 45 yards.
    My initial testing was at 6 yards in my garden and I managed to put 28 shots through 2 joined pellet holes.
    I then tried the streamlined 8.48 through my pro sport,tx200hc and hw45 and the chrono testing proved that they put the rifles over but the groupings were so much tighter than the jsbs I was using.
    Reducing the pre load on both rifles reduced recoil so I’m sticking to those 2 pellets.
    In the 45 I found the streamlined over30 yards had very little deviation in aim points and no deviation up to 20 yards…….bye bye JSB!

    ive just finished testing the qys 9.5 domes. 3 different batches. 1 batch was aweful a 1" group at 45 yds. 2nd batch was acceptable at just over ½". 3rd batch was one holing, very very good so i bought a whole box. My normal goto pellet was jsb heavy but Ive now moved over to the QYS. Suprisingly the aimpoints didnt change as far as i could tell and i tested 55yds down to 10 yds. Happy days :)

    My hft500 shoots jsb 10.34, qys 9.56 and h&n baracuda match all at around ¼ - ½" at 55yards outdoors but the 8.4 qys and 8.4 jsb are only good for 25m benchrest and group around 1" at 55 yards even when there's no breeze.

      8.48 qys , not the best in any of my rifles , 9.56 superb in most 8.95 ( mediums , that nobody seems to mention ) also superb .. just bought another 2 tins of 13grn , yes I use in sub 12 .. and under 5p groups @ 30 mtrs in ( again ) most of my rifles , squirrels at that range , bingo .. it REALLY is a no brainer ( you can take that a few ways ) .. so no good in sub 12 ??? Dont you believe it .

      They are plenty accurate in sub 12,but at unknown target distances hard work. im going to do some ballistic gel tests with them down the line,compared the streamline which are my preferred atm.they retain a fair bit of energy but how the pointed head deal with it, im curious. Itd be wise to keep an eye on the power especially in this heat 😉

    Fascinating to see that you have not had any real success with QYS Domed 8.5grns. A couple of us have found them accurate and consistent over multiple batches using longer Lowthar Walther barrels. I use a Pro-Target with a 21" export barrel and a friend uses a Shamal which he has owned from new and an MPR. Our accuracy efforts are focused on 25m bench rest, so pellets need to be extremely good to pass the test. We are just starting to test the newer 9.5grn QYS pellets and it's too early to tell if they are better / worse / the same as the lighter pellets.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  2 роки тому +2

      Maybe I've just been unlucky with the batches I've had, but I think now its 3 different lots through 2 different spec lw, both sizes 14and15mm of cz(albeit carbines) steyr and the 9015 and none have been consistent in the wind over 30yds. The streamlines have been way more predictable in everything.
      It's all fascinating and chances are we will never really know why they behave like they do.

    You said the 13gr is for fac, I was under the impression qys pellets are compition pellets and all compitions are done with sub 12 airguns globally. So slightly confused 😕

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Рік тому

      Yeah maybe i wasn't too clear on that. These magnums are definitely not designed for sub12 or 6ftlb 10m competition use. They are aimed primarily at the higher powered guns. The downside to alot of these modern super heavy pellets is that they can potentially push a lot of guns over the limit. If you have a gun that you can't easily adjust the power to keep them legal, id be super careful with them.
      They are also surprisingly accurate at range especially given the pointed tip which isn't really noted for being overly accurate.
      😉

    Right if a rifle is running very hot with a heavy pellet but that's not the pellet you use is that OK? Legally, say 8.4 grain is perfect at about 11.3 , but a 10.6 grain bisley magnum is over should you be detuned to be sub12 with a heavy pellet that you never use, shorly you you don't need to set your rifle at 10ftlbs because a silly super heavy pellet is likely to push you over , , should we all be chronographing rifles with the heaviest pellets on the market , ,I don't get it , love the video mate ❤

    Is FAC like an NFA tax stamp in US?

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Рік тому

      Im Not sure how the tax stamp system works,but in England to gain a Fire Arms Certificate you need to apply to the local police force, who will do various background checks, a doctors appraisal for mental health too. We also must show a need for having such guns. If you have a large amount of land or are a member of a suitable club then it's not really a problem to get even moster calibre rifles. All our FAC guns and shotguns must also be stored in appropriate cabinets. Be it a cheytac or air rifle above 12ftlbs.
      Below 12ftlbs an air rifle has no restrictions other than age and sensible storage precautions around children.
