100% Amy was seeing other guys but didn't want OP to see other girls.
This is very typical of women who fixate on a man as their “endgame”. They feel that this is the guy they will eventually marry, but they’re not ready for that commitment and they still want to have their own fun. So they’ll friend-zone their “endgame” guy, but throw them enough breadcrumbs so they’ll stay interested and “true” to them. That way the woman can still have her fun with other guys because she’s not “with” their endgame, but they give their endgame enough attention that this guy will literally wait on them to commit to them.
Unfortunately, many women who pull this crap get away with it and ultimately end up with the poor guy they strung along, sometimes for _years._ But there are a lot of guys who wise up to this behavior.
This is not how backup betas are suppose to act.
