      I get ya. You might be able to find some older model high jump shoes online that won’t break the bank and then you could just get a shoe like a “ Nike zone rival multi event” for sprints and jumps. And remember, unless an athlete is an elite jumper, the newer model vs a older model isn’t gonna make a difference in performance but definitely will be cheaper.
      I would have a separate high jump shoe though because a lot of non elite facilities such as local high schools and city parks have some pretty poor surface conditions and it really helps having the heel spikes.
      However, depending on your budget and access to resources, that might not be the case so it’s possible to use one single shoe for all events I’ll explain:
      technically can use a triple jump shoe for hurdles, but it’s not advisable. I would NOT, however use sprint spikes for triplejump. Long jump and 400m can be run in some cases a middle distance shoe. (See my video about TENTOGLOU jumping 8.41m shoe controversy).
      Your two best options would be to get a sprint spike that has a thicker sole in the heel such as the “Nike zoom rivals multi event”, or a mid distant shoe or multi event shoe such as the “new balance fuelcell MD-X V2 spikes” as they typically have thicker and flatter midsole and heels, or even the adidas Adizero Ambitions.
      Most though have at least two pairs of shoes for the “track” and the “field” events. It’s all about preference though.
      I always jumped in a different shoe for each event but it’s a preference and budget choice.
      You should be able to find some cheap older model, jump and sprint spikes online that won’t break the bank but it’s still great quality.
      Hope that helps!

      Good question, I’m assuming you’re talking about short hurdles.
      The short answer is yes! An ideal situation Is you want to get a triplejump shoe for the triplejump and long jump and a sprint spike for the 100m & short hurdles.
      However, depending on your budget and access to resources, that might not be the case so it’s possible to use one single shoe for all events I’ll explain:

    How much space should be from my toes to the front of my highjump spikes?

    • @JumpersJunction
      @JumpersJunction  Рік тому +2

      Great question! So unlike running shoes where you want extra space, with jumping spikes, you want it snug. You don’t want extra room because you want to minimize the possibility of your foot sliding around on your take off. There is a lot of shear or sideways forces in the high jump so you want your shoe to provide as much stability as possible. Unfortunately each shoe brand has a different design for how wide the forefoot or toe area is and it’s also gonna depend on how wide your feet are but I tend to go half size down on spikes compared to running or training shoes. The one thing you don’t want though is your toes curled.
      And because you pretty much have to buy jumping spikes online, your not gonna be able to try them out. So my suggestion is plan ahead. Make sure you understand the store or websites return policy and if you get them and they don’t fit, trade them for the next size up or down. But due this well in advance of when you are trying to compete so you have time to break them in!
      Great question! Hope this helps.

    • @JumpersJunction
      @JumpersJunction  6 місяців тому

      So you want your HJ spikes to be as tight as possible *with out causing pain/blisters or causing you to have to change your normal running patter. If you have to bunch your toes, that’s gonna cause you to run and jump different. If they are just kinda touching the top but arnt messing with your performance, than tight is good.
      But if your feet are still growing… your gonna want to get a new pair for next season

      Never sacrifice shin health. Lol shin splints can be pretty debilitating. That being said you could prob find a middle distance shoe or older model long/triple jump shoe or older model pole vault online at a discount somewhere.
      But it also depends on what level your at. I’d say once you get to the high school level at least you should have at lease 1 pair of dedicated jumping shoes. Just something with alittle bit of cushioning and grip.

      Are studs what they came with because my triple jump spikes can actually cut people but my high jump ones might be the studs you’re talking about

    • @JumpersJunction
      @JumpersJunction  Рік тому +1

      Hey there good question. So only high jump shoes and also javelin shoes have spike pin in the heel (typically 4). Some shoe manufacturers (such as ASICS) only have spike pins in the heel area on the take-off foot only, so when you purchase it, you will need to specify which foot you takeoff from.
      Most others have spike pins in both heel areas. Some athletes will have spikes on both heels, but some only prefer heel spikes on their takeoff foot. This is technically a personal preference.
      So if you don’t want spikes in the heel area of your non-takeoff foot, you can purchase what’s called “studs” or “blanks”. They have no spikes on them and they just screw into the pinhole where the spike would normally go. Technically, you could jump just without any spikes in the pin hole but you don’t want to get things like rocks or sand or dirt in the pin hole.
