No wonder he was so tired towards the end. MJ had performed and given us everything from such a young age. My heart ached a little when he was asked about what he does on vacations.
Michael Jackson's early years deserve more attention. Especially the mid/late 70s. This was a period where he was transitioning from his Jackson 5 days to his solo career, gaining more independence while also facing conflict from his brothers, his father and others in his life. This "transitioning period" was spent very well by Jackson, which is what allowed him to obtain such a well-laid out path for his spectacular solo career. Thank you The Detail for shining light on this time period of his life. 🤍
So true. Michael was so incredible back then as well. People forget those year's and they were very important. He just as was amazing then. I was a Jackson Five fan as a child all the way throughout my life and I stayed a fan of Michael's. The 80's were a highlight for me of course because I was a Teenager then and Michael really hit it off with his solo career during those year's.
This was just when MJ was developing into the adult MJ we all knew and loved! Also The Jacksons had started their own variety television show in late 1976 etc. and the Jackson 5 signed with Epic Records May 28, 1975 didn’t yet change their name from the Jackson 5 to The Jacksons just yet! And I must mention that MJ’s afro evolution is very interesting within this time period early 1975 it was getting fluffy then he got it back into the perfect afro again very quickly I must say!👑🩵🌟
That was the whole point !! MJ was giving us different images & looks for all different eras. It’s almost like he wanted to create 3 distinct looks for the 3 stages of his career. The Jackson 5, The Jacksons & then all of MJ’s solo career. 3 different products on the market by the same man. MJ was marketing & promotional genius!!!
He was such a talented young man an amazing performer from such a young age . Even when he’s smiling and talking in interviews you can sence a sadness in him I could only imagine what his soul was going through behind closed doors. MJ you are too good for this world you are an angel and a beautiful shining light who will always be remembered and loved by your fans
This was the period where i was a real fan of the Jacksons. It started with "Dancing Machine" in 1974 for me. I didn't put up any posters on my wall or buy "Right On"! magazine for their popularity like my friend, but those summers were the musical soundtracks of my teens.
“Thrilla in Manila” was actually a boxing match between Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier that happened that year in 1975. Magazines will always advertise two other stories that are inside their book underneath their cover story.
The moving violation album deserves more spotlight. It’s the final album featuring Jermaine and at Motown. Got good songs like All I do is think of you,and Forever Came Today.
Dear Michael is my favorite but when my mom passed in 2021 I couldn’t stop playing One Day in Your Life. There was a compilation that Motown released by the same name and it was the first tape she ever bought me. Rest in Peace Mom.
@ I am sorry for your loss. I think that transition from Motown to Epic caused this period to be much overlooked by the public as well as Michaels transition into adulthood causing the public to become disenchanted with his new look. He talked about people literally everything overlooking him in public. This period for me mean a lot because of it being my Mothers favorite period and I could see why. She was a teenager herself and it just resonated with the young Black youth of the time.
The early year's of the Jackson Five in my opinion showcase Michael's talant so much. He stands out impeccably even back then. What a superior talant, my gosh! I consider myself blessed to have been around to grow up during the decade's when Michael's lifeband career were happening. Even though heceas a few year's older, It happened in my generation and very few exceptional artists are ever this huge. He changed dance, music, bridged generations in music, mixed genres in music, created the first "short fims" with music, and so many other thing's.
there were only TWO artists that could have SAVED Motown. and that's EL DEBARGE and MICHAEL JACKSON. those 2. guys were Motown's future SUPERSTARS. but Berry Gordy and his executives couldn't see the forest for the trees.
I love that he did. I’m sure they both appreciated each other as both talented artists & as people in general. Bob Marley was very down to Earth, I think Michael would have liked that about him.
A brilliant performer at a time period of his career where he went on solo projects since 1972 I believe and his voice was changing but behind closed doors, he was a very depressed teenager because of the abusive ways of his father, and because of his looks that he hated, especially this nose and acne. Poor Mike. Despite that, already a legend !
Such a beautiful episode, can't wait for the next episode, which i think it will be the last 1977/1978! Good Job and let's go, to complete this wonderful series!
@thedetail. Omg 😱😱😱😱 nooooo . The thought of it makes me sad. I always wonder how can one find out who has the original tapes and where are they and who decides what happened to them? Can you imagine a warehouse dark and cold, dusty, maybe musty, and the Jackson's variety show to be discovered in perhaps next century or be lost for ever.
From here on out is when we get to see Mike REALLY expand. I believe during the variety show is when he really digs into the "crates" and studies footage of Sammy Davis Jr, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and the Nicholas Brothers! We start to see his dancing really begin to morph into whats to come by the time Off The Wall hits the shelves
@@z0ee996knew someone was gonna say that. I’m aware, but there are still a few songs he ever went through. Liberian Girl, Another Part of Me, Just Good Friends, and even Speed Demon

Good video. Too bad you couldn't play the actual music. I really am beginning to hate UA-cam's crackdown on copyright! It's becoming a real problem on my channel too. I even post my fair use laws under my videos and they don't even care. Once again, spectacular video! Michael was developing into an adult and he was seen more and more as a solo singer.
After watching the series through the 80s until his demise, it's hard to believe this is actually the same person.
