Bots like Huge and Ripperoni are what truly makes me love Battlebots. Seeing underdog bots that everybody thought as "joke" absolutely dominating the competition.
Huge almost won the giant nut but lost to sawblaze I have a good feeling you gonna keep watching this show like I do
Aha, I'll chime in to say people were def aware of the potential Ripperoni threat. They'd been tearing up lower weight classes with Lil' Rip, to hone the design. They have a fun vibe, but builders weren't seeing the weapon as a joke, trust me!

I'm just so glad that HUGE was able to fight a bunch of small vertical spinners this year. That overall concept has been dominant for so long, and HUGE was built as a hard counter to it.
Huge itself is a vertical swimmer but I guess what's refreshing about it is that it's unlike most bots which try to have the least ground clearance to get under their opponent.
HUGE. Such a creative design and delivers such huge blows to its opponents. An absolutely brilliant machine.

Really great that they fixed its wheels too. In earlier seasons they would get minced within the first 30 seconds and Huge would just limp around.
I'm glad these vids are all with commentary. without commentary just doesnt hit the same

wow, copperhead really ran the gauntlet that year, 1st endgame then riptide and huge finished what was left of them.
Huge vs Huge was unexpected! What was that Starchild? A remix of Huge?
Essentially a modern Gabriel from Robot Wars
The Starchild style bot came even before Huge I think, but in Gabriel.
It needs better scaling to the heavy weight format. It works reasonably well in lighter classes but was not quite as effective as a Huge style bot
Huge had a great campaign in BB7. One the most uniquely designed robots in the sport.

Starchild have same problem like mammoth. If you tie your main weapon to your main body swinging. Once that fails you, you basically lose the fight. Also make it hard to control/being agile. Huge make the right design having that 2 extra arm to make the body stable and more controllable. Also have simple slim body with only one solid weapon. That's why they so dominant.

When HUGE first showed up in season 3, everyone thought it was going to be a joke bot.

I am a frequent commentor on battlebots and this is the first time I have seen so many bots here. What's even the point of botting here where even top comments barely gets 100 likes.

Although I'm not sure, but I think tombstone was the reason there was a limit on tip speed, thereby limiting rpm and weapon size

Could someone explain huge to a newbie. It looks toobig,its is slow .those wheels look really weak. Isnt compact better???
The wheels are really durable. They are quite soft so they just flex when struck. Cos the bot is so big, most bots can only attack the wheels (which usually can survive insane attacks) or go head to head with Huge's weapon. All the electronics and drive motors are super safe in the body.
Sawblaze only won because it made specific modifications (the horizontal bar at the front) so it could run into the weapon again and again. Even then they didn't do huge damage and probably only won because they managed to cut half of Huge's weapon's transmission bands (therefore halving the weapons power).
Honestly that title fight was incredible.

All it needs is a pincer to grab the wheels then a blade come out LOL, robot nerds have no clue about simplicity.
You say while suggesting something as complex as that 😂 or do you think the other bot will just sit there and wait for you to come grab its wheels? There have been many grab style bots before and the reason you no longer see them is because they don't work.
Infact I think there was a bot with this exact same premise. Should be the one William Osman bought. I think reddevil or daredevil, can't remember the name 😅, and if memory servers me right, it only worked as intended in just one match
