I have always loved the Nutcracker. I love the music. I love the ballet. I would love to see this version in person. Hopefully next year, they will take the show on tour.
It’s in my opinion, that if it’s supposed to be Hip-Hop, the music should have Hip-Hop beats/rhythms. Also, it would be beneficial to have some narration, for those who don’t know the story. I firmly believe, that is the key to understanding this classical piece.
The magical creativity of it is that it kept the original music to the original ballet and instead of ballet it was hip hop break dancing and the idea of introducing break dancing in the ballet forum was in itself amazing and done so tastefully well. ❤
I I def love hip hop & I also love the Nutcracker, but this biz is bumming me out for some reason? Maybe it’s actually the costumes (or lack thereof)? Yeah, pretty sure the casualness of this show doesn’t feel right to me at all.
That's exactly how I'm feeling about it. I like hiphop & classical music, especially The Nutcracker. I really wanted to like it but I just can't. I can't tell if it's the choreography that doesn't seem to gel right with the music, lack of costumes, the fact that it kind of feels like a mediocre high school drama production that had access to good stage props & lighting or a combination of all of the above. LOL The dancers are talented but a good production is more than just the performers.
@@susansaphire5983 Ok. Thanks for confirming what I was feeling. What was the cost of a ticket to see the show? I'm curious about how much they had the nerve to charge.
I’m a ballet mom so I spent 18+ years watching rehearsals and performances, volunteering for the sewing committee, student matinees, etc. My daughters (and my youngest son for one season) started out as mice and baby angels and climbed the ranks to company soloists... so I’m a bit (actually VERY) partial to the traditional Nutcracker. I can see how hip hop might work for fight scene... maybe Chinese (Tea) and Russian (Trepak) even... but Snow Scene, Waltz of the Flowers, Grand Pas De Deux...??? I can see how it might be popular for some, but I am going to stick to the ballet version...
As a POC (Person of Color) I like the representation aspect of it and I like that other girls and boys of color can see themselves represented on stage however as a ballet lover, fan, and audience member I prefer the traditional (ballet) nutcracker I like that version better it’s definitely something I would watch more too I think some traditions should go away should like ballet having a typical aesthetic of a white/European look that should go away but i think a story like the nutcracker shouldn’t be recreated or touched because it is a classic and it is a tradition I think the nutcracker (ballet) should just stay the way it is. And I think fans even people who aren’t fans of ballet would agree. I think they probably prefer the ballet version more as well
This Is so stupid, you don't change one of the most beautiful and famous ballets that Tchaikovsky made into hip hop. The nutcracker is a delicate, beautiful ballet that should never change. So what in the world are you guys doing!?
I watched a video about it they said they wanna open up peoples minds because people see “the same traditional nutcracker” their words not mine when In reality “the same traditional nutcracker” is apart of peoples holiday traditions and loved by a lot of people
Personally I “liked” this presentation of The Hip Hop Nutcracker; but rather “LOVED” the presentation of The Urban Nutcracker. The latter presentation is closer to the original whereas I got the jest of the story … it was easier to follow. Albeit, The Hip Hop Nutcracker was well-performed.
This is one of those things you have to see in person to truly appreciate it. Unfortunately it's not available anywhere on UA-cam, but take my word for it. I was unsure what I was getting into when my friend gave me a ticket to go see it when they came to VA while on tour. Boy was I surprised? It's choreographed really well and tells a story! Adding a hip hop beat would have made it too cheesy imo. Being able to stick to the original score while still giving it a true hip hop vibe takes talent. If they tour again in your city, I highly recommend you check it out! :D

Went to see the show last night. Simply amazing!
Patrick how long is the show
They was excellent show last year. very live!
If this featured the original costumed characters and stage decor, this would be a run away hit. The dancers are incredible👏👏👏

@@moneybags999 depends on the seats, my tickets were 65 dollars for not too great seats.

Outstanding guys! You made this a really cool proyect!
Should be televised
It sounded like a great idea but now that I watch it I'm horrified. Make it stop.
My friend was in this show
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo
I love it but I wish the costumes were more intricate
That was so funnn🥰🥰❤️

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ❤
weaves in and out between hip hop and crumping
😁 I'm in love with it
Me too!!!!
I want to see this so bad...
wtf did I just witness
Wth is this. The music should of been some banging beats.

The only thing that hip-hop about this is are the move. The music does not go
Do they rap or speak?????
Did i see Nigel from SYTYCD?
what the????
Is that dj boo?
I went to the play
Подобное представление можно увидеть на улице. Бесплатно!
Can not even get a note🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It feels awkward with the music not also having, at the very least, a subtle hip-hop beat. The moves and costumes don't match the sounds.

I hope this is a free show?
would go if someone gave me a ticket and a lot of money also.
Has there ever been something so pedestrian? Asking for a friend.

This is trash. Tchaikovsky weeps
It really doesn’t tell the story not my fav
