    been fishing with this reel since it came out...I have caught big redfish and nice speckled trout with ease. the x-ship is an awesome addition to shimano baitcasters. I have a chronarch 200e and I can tell the difference with a reel with x-ship and a reel without. I switched out the bearings for saltwater and it is becoming one of my favorite reels. thanks for the video!

      xTRXHERO41 x ok good to hear. I got it and I fished in the saltwater once. I was having some trouble casting things less that a half ounce which probably isn’t far off from a senko. Hopefully I’ll get better. On the other hand my new exage rod tip broke first trip. Hopefully the warranty covers it

    What are the big differences between the Curacao I and the new citica? It seems like they both have the same features but ones more expensive than the other and I really enjoy the good reviews you put out on all the new reels.

    • @tannergrab282
      @tannergrab282 5 років тому

      Maybe they had a bad batch. I ran casitas reels and sprung on a citica that was on sale for the same price as a casitas. Like $115ish. Worked great for about a week and then it got rough. Like there was a salty bearing. Took it back to the store and they made it right after feeling the reel themselves and I walked out with a curado for the same price. So I guess it worked out in the end. That reel has been great for a few years.

    Since you have been using the curado, citica, and the casitas for awhile; which one do you like better? And even the chronarch.

    • @robbieluman1431
      @robbieluman1431 8 років тому

      Chronarch is definitely one of the best reels on the market but for a good budget reel I would say the curado is just a tad smoother than the citica but don't let that under estimate the smoothness of the citica! The citica is ultra smooth for 149.99! The casitas is good too but for its price point it is one of the top reels; only let down on the casitas is the composite frame which weakens it but all in all for 120 it's pretty darn good.

      Graff Harmet dude get the chronarch! I have had mine for a few months now and I've used it in saltwater an freshwater. Still extremely smooth, just make sure you oil the svs brakes after every outing (Shimano gives you oil and instructions for that). I caught decent size bass and have taken this reel on charter boats out of San Diego to catch rat yellows. I threw and 8oz dropper loop and I threw small tardy irons that were about 3 oz and the chronarch handled it very well I caught many small yellowtail (7). The next day after that trip I took it bass fishing and was still smooth like it was out of the box. I highly recommend this reel to you and to anyone else!

    hey justin what your gear ration on your citica for crank baits.. i know u have several as u said its your work horse.. do use 6.3 or 7.1 for cranks? i was wondering if i can get away with the 7 for other applications..amd reel slower with the 7 so i can use it also for sq bill cranks and shallow cranks? i would not be using for deep water cranks. im tryna stay away from buy both models... reg and hg?

      +aggs234 I do use 7.1 for crank baits sometimes, especially shallow square bills in warm weather. You can slow it down and use it for other things. The advancement in gear technology now lets us get away with more power in higher gear ratios

    I bought a Citica, they say it is a very good baitcaster, but the first 2 times I casted it the brake adjustment side fell off. The 3rd time I casted it the side fell off and the spoil came out on the ground, if I had been in a boat, I would have lost it all except the part that fastens to the rod. Would I ever buy another one? NO! I wouldn't even recommend it to a friend, but maybe folks I don't like. ;-)

      Which Citica? The new one?

    • @parrotbill
      @parrotbill 9 років тому

      No it was last year's model on close-out. It had a side panel cap to access the breaks. Now I have a good cheap Bass Pro Extreme, it cost around $50.00, with an exterior dial for the break system, which I like much better. It's a pretty fast reel at 7.1:1., this means that one crank = 3 feet. They say that you get what you pay for but I have cast this reel at least 200 times without a flaw, so I'm really happy with it.
