I'm going back to them old days 😂
I got myself a never used Shimano Curado Bantam.
Its a true miracle, the reel too!
been fishing with this reel since it came out...I have caught big redfish and nice speckled trout with ease. the x-ship is an awesome addition to shimano baitcasters. I have a chronarch 200e and I can tell the difference with a reel with x-ship and a reel without. I switched out the bearings for saltwater and it is becoming one of my favorite reels. thanks for the video!
Mason Gordon how do u switch the bearings out for saltwater
+Clarke Hamilton there is a bearing on the inside of the side plate and a bearing inside the cast adjustment knob...just take them out and replace them
Mason Gordon I know that but like what r the saltwater bearings name
Ceramic bearings they last forever in saltwater. I just got this reel used and it’s impressive, but not as smooth as my lews
Saw on bass pro shops website read so me reviews and after watching this video, I am 100% sure getting this reel for my birthday
Michael.___ Saad how is it? Is it good for light stuff?
Justin F I can easily cast weightless senkos! I have 17lb Floro on mine.
xTRXHERO41 x ok good to hear. I got it and I fished in the saltwater once. I was having some trouble casting things less that a half ounce which probably isn’t far off from a senko. Hopefully I’ll get better. On the other hand my new exage rod tip broke first trip. Hopefully the warranty covers it
Got this reel as soon as I could on TW. Love it so far, throwing my jigs on it.
Awesome! Gonna have to check this reel out!
What are the big differences between the Curacao I and the new citica? It seems like they both have the same features but ones more expensive than the other and I really enjoy the good reviews you put out on all the new reels.
Thanks for the videos! Always exciting when I see you have a new one out. Can't wait to get a kayak or boat one day.
Bought this reel and had it for 2 or 3 weeks not and this reel is fantastic
just got a new one and love it
Ive got my first citaca and how do you change the internal brakes the dont go up and down i need help thanks
Can you do a review on the Shimano Calcutta and the Calcutta conquest 200?
Awesome vid like always man! May have to add a citica to my lineup after this vid
Does ur citica have a slight rough feeling when reeling it? cause mine does I just want to know if I might have got a lemon
Mine does too. I was expecting a more smoother reel, but, I guess you still have a rough feeling on the reel for $150.
Maybe they had a bad batch. I ran casitas reels and sprung on a citica that was on sale for the same price as a casitas. Like $115ish. Worked great for about a week and then it got rough. Like there was a salty bearing. Took it back to the store and they made it right after feeling the reel themselves and I walked out with a curado for the same price. So I guess it worked out in the end. That reel has been great for a few years.
I would love to know more about the breaking system.
Great Review. My current 2 bait casters are like 6.2 and 6.4 gear ratio. Would you recommend the 7.2 for my higher speed reel? If so what type of line would you normally use on that speed of reel?
Hi I have citica lost 3 of the red brake clips … there’s no where to buy them poor on Shimano uk !
I want to suggest a lake that you should try to bass fish here in Louisiana. I've seen people throw there poles in the water and say that our lake here in Shreveport Louisiana has the poorest bass fishing. Cross Lake here in NW Louisiana. Maybe you could check it out? .-.
YOU'RE A LEGEND!
if you have side plate issues , always make sure a weight isn't sticking out catching. buck shimano Canada prostaff
I'm still a little confused on x-ship, does it help with smoothness in casting or just the overall durability? And if that is the case, is it worth it to get it over the casitas?
Why not just get a curado since a lot of internet sites are selling the Curado for around $150?
hey lfg what do u thing about the diawa tatula and what do u think is the best rod for around 250 for like jigs, and weighted rigs
i have a question that i have always wondered. Do you own lake fork baits?
Would you spend the extra money to get the curado or just get a citica?
Do you prefer this reel over the curado or are they the same
I just bought a Shimano Citica and when I reel there is a little play in the spool, is that normal? I already adjusted the spool tensioner. Anything other ideas??
Nice channel can you do a dropshot video focusing on video game bassin ,bass on sonar tips tricks dropshot on sonar and your settings for your graph tips tricks and tweaks
Do you have any ceramic bearing upgrades on any of your reels you use?
Since you have been using the curado, citica, and the casitas for awhile; which one do you like better? And even the chronarch.
Chronarch is definitely one of the best reels on the market but for a good budget reel I would say the curado is just a tad smoother than the citica but don't let that under estimate the smoothness of the citica! The citica is ultra smooth for 149.99! The casitas is good too but for its price point it is one of the top reels; only let down on the casitas is the composite frame which weakens it but all in all for 120 it's pretty darn good.
Bigger differences between the two reels discussed in the video?
how do you fish frogs with no lilly pads in a pond you should make a how to on it
can you do a review over the new shimano casits
How is it compared to the Casitas?
Just ordered a citica! This will be my first shimano reel and I want to know how to lube and replace the brakes. Does anyone know how to do these things?
Chris Mata It’s a great reel! Here’s my review of the reel! ua-cam.com/video/mSrutfMEPzo/v-deo.html (I also have a video where I fish with it!)
Would it make more sense to opt for the citica over the curado? For 40 bucks less, it makes you wonder why you would buy a curado instead
I have both, but the curado is a decent step up. The curado feels like it has better bearings or something.
+Kaleb Brooks I've had the curado for about a year and I just got a lews lfs speed spool is a lot better and cast further
Great review!
if I were to upgrade my bearings in my citica 201hg, would the 200hg be the same?
Casitas, citica, or chonarch? I'm trying to decide between these three reels. I am planing to use this reel for some Muskie fishing, and bass fishing and don't know what to choose please help!
Graff Harmet dude get the chronarch! I have had mine for a few months now and I've used it in saltwater an freshwater. Still extremely smooth, just make sure you oil the svs brakes after every outing (Shimano gives you oil and instructions for that). I caught decent size bass and have taken this reel on charter boats out of San Diego to catch rat yellows. I threw and 8oz dropper loop and I threw small tardy irons that were about 3 oz and the chronarch handled it very well I caught many small yellowtail (7). The next day after that trip I took it bass fishing and was still smooth like it was out of the box. I highly recommend this reel to you and to anyone else!
Would you recommend this to a pond fisherman
Is it bad not to have sealed barring? or do you just have to makes sure that the reel doesn't stay wet?
+Mitchell Koser It's a bit better to have a sealed in salt water, but really makes no difference in fresh in my experience
+LakeForkGuy Thx, I am going to only be using it in fresh and brackish water. I'll just be careful when around salty water like I normally am. I love your vids!!
what's ur favorite reel and most reliable reel
Im deciding whether a Lews mack 1 speed spool or a Shimano citca. I would use it for more of finesse/jig fishing do u have any preferences on witch one or any reel under $150 ?
dude the citica blows away the Lews
Lews gears strip a lot easier than the gears on a Shimano brand reel. I would go for the Citica
why do you prefer currado or citaca
Hey lakeforkguy what baitcaster rod and reel combo for a sensitive set up would you recommend?
Duckett rods are some of the most sensitive out there, another great rod with nice sensitivity is the Jonny Morris carbon lite. As far as reels go I personally use only Shimano and lews. Best out there I think. :)
How many yards of line will it hold? I notice alot of people that do these reviews leave that out
redsammy a lot like 150 yards
Citica 200i vs curado 200i i i was buying one of them?
Would you use this for froging?
Is that bass in ur profile pic real how many lbs?
why don't you use Abu Garcia reels I have one and their great , I beat it around everywhere and its great
Is the extra $30 you spend on the curado worth spending or just buy the citica?
Ethan Johnson I have fished both, I can't tell a difference between the two. You may get more life out of the bearings in the Curado but that's about it
so i want this reel for a 6' 10" zodias rod and i was going to throw texas rigs and carolina rigs and weightls stuff. would this be a good reel?
Kash Christoffersen Yes, i would just make sure to get the high gear 7:2 version when throwing plastics. The nice thing about having X ship in a reel is when you set the hook and reach on the reel, it's solid
thanks you so much. love your vids.
I saw you on tv the other day
how far does the reel cast.
I really want a good all around shimano reel under $200. What do you recommend?
Derek Rodriguez the shimano casitas no doubt
Curado for sure
How does it handle 20 lbs fish
What line is that on the intro? @LakeForkGuy
Hey does anybody know if there is going to be new shimano sustain and the stradics coming out this year
Drake Lyon Stradic will be available in a few weeks after ICAST. No Sustain anytime soon as far as I know
Can you bomb casts with this and what's a good rid to purchase with this reel?
I have thrown a tiny little crank bait like 1/8 oz and it slung it about 40 yards
Lures like normal kvd 1.5's and 2.5's it launches about 60-70 yards depending on your settings
What would be a reasonable price baitcaster price range for me $60-$130 and what lites would be good for bass fishing in lakes i fish the finger lakes in new york and some are really deep but i can never find the bass
The Abu Garcia black max is a good starter baitcaster for 70 bucks.
Ill check it out
Or a Daiwa Lexa for $60. On sale on TackleWarehouse.com.
Matt cheney I got the Abu Garcia Promax for less than $100. Real good reel for the money.
You can easily find the citica I for 120 or less
hey justin what your gear ration on your citica for crank baits.. i know u have several as u said its your work horse.. do use 6.3 or 7.1 for cranks? i was wondering if i can get away with the 7 for other applications..amd reel slower with the 7 so i can use it also for sq bill cranks and shallow cranks? i would not be using for deep water cranks. im tryna stay away from buy both models... reg and hg?
+aggs234 I do use 7.1 for crank baits sometimes, especially shallow square bills in warm weather. You can slow it down and use it for other things. The advancement in gear technology now lets us get away with more power in higher gear ratios
hey would the 7.2 be good for open water frog fishing
+Hunter Tapp just right, yes
+LakeForkGuy I throw a lot of 1oz topwater baits for speckled trout...can the citica handle big lures up to 1oz? I really like your channel because I have been bass fishing lately and your advice has really helped me catch more quality bass! hope to hear from you!
+Mason Gordon Yes it can. With the X-Ship technology, which gives you a dual supported pinion gear, you will be able to retrieve heavier lures no problem, even umbrella rigs
Thank you for response I am purchasing one right now!
+LakeForkGuy I got the citica 201 in 6.3:1 I'm gonna use it for crankin
what would you recommended the citica or casitas
That's what I'm trying to decide too
Citica for sure
Tom Lipjanic Citica without a doubt
How do u change the brakeing
Can you fish squarebills and chatterbaits on this reel
Mainly what it's specialties are is cranking because of the not so high drag amount
would u put this on a froging stick? if not what would u do?
lincoln drewis mine is on a frogging stick and it's perfect
I have my citica on a a Powell Inferno 7'3" rod. I use this a lot for throwing frogs and I love it
You need to fish the FLW Tour
They should make a citica dc
What's this type of reel called?
survivalstuff2 Low profile bait casting reel Shimano Citica 200i
Thanks! Went fishing today and reeled in a sunfish. Had Trouble getting it off my line so put it back in the water for a few seconds and a massive bass got it! Reeled it in and it easily weighed 5-7 lbs.
I bought a Citica, they say it is a very good baitcaster, but the first 2 times I casted it the brake adjustment side fell off. The 3rd time I casted it the side fell off and the spoil came out on the ground, if I had been in a boat, I would have lost it all except the part that fastens to the rod. Would I ever buy another one? NO! I wouldn't even recommend it to a friend, but maybe folks I don't like. ;-)
Which Citica? The new one?
No it was last year's model on close-out. It had a side panel cap to access the breaks. Now I have a good cheap Bass Pro Extreme, it cost around $50.00, with an exterior dial for the break system, which I like much better. It's a pretty fast reel at 7.1:1., this means that one crank = 3 feet. They say that you get what you pay for but I have cast this reel at least 200 times without a flaw, so I'm really happy with it.
You probably got a lemon
*****
That very well could be true, but I won't give them a second chance because of that.
I would the new ones are better than ever
Which shimano reel $150 and under cast the farthest
Seabass's Outdoor vlogs Casitas mgl
miller murdaugh not many people knoe about that reel..
kidbehindbars best reel under 150 however
Miller Murdaugh which is the best under 150?
SLX
thank you
Love how it bird nested toward the end. I hate this reel.
Is the 200 for size? Or is that just the name of it
Are citica good for light lures
the first time I used this reel the drag bearing broke
Good thing for Shimano great customer service.
+gone fishin. very true got a new reel right away and it's been great catching oversized redfish
i just got this reel brand new for 80$
civil from where? I need that
"I like Brand Shimano.
I use C3and C4 Ambassador reels. I am old school and maybe i will catch fish if i go out and buy all this.fancy stuff. HAHAHAHA!
LEWS!!!!!!
Wow this is old
First comment
300th like!!
Lews over anything
What drugs are you on?
Second
why do you prefer currado or citaca
Landon Gaudette only difference is ball berring corrosion resistance for the curado k, which is anti corrosive
