Dubspot Instructor Michael Hatsis introduces us to Ableton Live's Vocoder device and demonstrates how to use it in creative ways that go far beyond traditional voice manipulation. In addition to creating a variety of effects on various sound elements throughout the production process, Vocoder can be used to transform or enhance sounds. In this video, Hatsis shares a technique for thickening up a snare to make it sound more powerful. Hatsis also explains the different Carrier Modes, shows how to adjust Vocoder's envelopes, use noise to add depth, and apply filter bank settings to elicit different feelings from the sound. In addition, Hatsis offers some audio effects tips to further enhance sounds.
