I sometimes wonder how many people who watch your vlogs are jealous of your choices of life style. I know I am one of them. You make me so conscious of the environment and of what I can do to help like solar panels or wind turbines this is silly but I have noticed you do not use the tea bags now and are making tea in the proper English way. I went out today without a coat and it felt like spring. Lovely fresh cool air in bright sunshine. We are on our way, the best time of the year with the summer before us and possible adventures to enjoy. I love your travels, go with you every week. I can’t get out much these days and you go where I would like to go and travel the way I would love. Thank you so SO much for brightening my life along with showing me the creatures on the way that is just the best way of enjoying where one is!

Another beautiful and very thoughtful video. Thank you for sharing this life with us. We live in the Dandenong Ranges on the edge of Melbourne. In spite of Melbourne's rapid, relentless and often destructive expansion, we are still blessed with an abundance of wildlife: wallabies, echidnas, wombats, possums (of course!) and all manner of bird life. When you slow your life down, take the time to watch and listen, nature will come to you. All it requires is patience and silence, as you have so perfectly demonstrated. Thank you once again and keep up the good work!

This lifestyle suits you so well. It's a combination of traveler, explorer and adventurer but without the hectic pace and stress you'd otherwise have to endure if you attempted something like this on land. And as you noted when in front of that bridge and a car went over it, you can't see the real beauty of something like that in a car going over it. I'm glad you enjoy doing what you do, as it brings a lot of smiles as you graciously take us along with you!

That is so amazing that there is such a large network of canals and support structures and moving bridges for you guys to use and control on your own, it’s just mind blowing. And it seems that it’s not being abused by people which is amazing.

You always manage to show an array of wonderful creatures for our viewing delight.also I love seeing the natural springtime occurrence of the beautiful tree blossom coming out so dramatically forming a very beautiful canopy of different coloured petals cascading over the branches. The petals wave so gracefully in the gentle breeze alongside the canal.such great splendour.super cool.❤🦆

Cruising is like walking on water! That is, it's about the same speed :) Yes I heard the Chiff Chaff! The Horsetail is an ancient plant that has existed for millions of years. The University of Bristol Botanical Garden contains a collection of plants called the Evolution collection that traces the origins of plants and features plants that date back as far as 200 million years. It's like entering ancient times. Loved the evening walk and the beautiful sandstone (?) bridge and the two ducks on their stroll. Thankyou for the lovely images from the peat bog and learning more about them. They are magical places aren't they. Your poem My Voice really touched me and yes we should all speak up to protect the tiny pieces of habitat that remain to wild creatures and plants (there is only 9% of the land on the earth that is left for non human animals). i nearly went down the widebeam route- electric 10 foot wide 60 foot long from thames solar. health condition meant i had to stay where i am-but retired and love watching the freedom you people have gained on the canals.

I agree with someone above re: the wind turbine being noisy. Then there is the issue of clearance, etc. Interesting about the various scarecrows! And of course, the darling little Nuthatch! The various bridges, per usual, are filled with beauty and charm! ❤

Some of the tow paths are now public footpaths but the path beside the canal was originally used for horses to tow the boat, hence the name “tow path”.

Hope they save this peat bog - as an environmentalist, IMO, wetlands are more important than all other areas - too many wetlands have been paved over or filled in and built on.

The history surrounding the canals and local villages are just fascinating and the nature is beautiful. Many don't understand that the narrowboat life is also hard work and as it's down sides also. Overall though such an amazing life to live

They want to build on Dane Moss!!? Well, that's put a massive bummer on my day! Surely not, as it's a SSI ,as you said. I feel so angry but powerless at how we're ruled by money-mad idiots who put the chance to make some profit over everything else. That would be a tragedy. incidentally, where you went doesn't give proper access to the Moss, that's further along the canal where there is a bridge over the railway line that leads on to a wooden walkway and the track of the old tram lines left from when used to harvest (?) the peat.
I hope they save it as they have pushed back the development for a while now and momentum to save it is building up more and more. I went in both ways to the Moss but I found the sphagnum easier to film in the first section. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care🦋🌻

I've been lucky enough to have been on the leeds Liverpool canal & the manual swing bridges are hard work but it's fun on the water good exercise & great views

U put it into a nutshell living on a narrowboat opens ur eyes to lots of things besides wildlife and beautiful scenery, but now the waterways are way of life for people who wish to slow down and live life away from the rat race and don't want to be part of the system.
I don't think there has been a vlog that l haven't liked u have a way of showing ur life down to a tee, as usual u produced some amazing scenes of the Reservoir reflecting into the water and of course the insects and birds. Each week l eagerly wait for cuppa time and try and guess how many biscuits ur going to have 2 3 4, but this week a mountain of cone snacks which threw me 😂😂. As always l hope u have a lovely weekend 🐕🐝🦆☕️🛕

Coming out of Winter must be like coming out of hibernation. I love the bridges and the history along the way. If I lived in England ... but alas age is telling me it's against me as well. I will just travel on Alice Grace each week if you don't mind. I live as sustainably as possible, feed creatures in my garden and grow as much of my own veg as possible. Buy from thrift shops etc, much more fun as well as good on the wallet. Take care and hug that gorgeous Zephyr please. =-)

I for one, are glad you chose this path in life, I believe you were MEANT to, so that we can learn from it!. I DO hold my breath whenever development is mentioned, around here they use the term 'affordable housing' as a means to start chopping through what little greenery we have left!, but it's never affordable to the masses, ridiculous prices for shoebox houses is what they are and it makes my heart hurt. In a car travelling at 50 MPH on a straight road driving 3 miles would take around 3 minutes and 36 seconds. I think of all the things I would miss seeing because of having to concentrate on the road. We’ve installed a heat recovery ventilation system on our hybrid boat. My day job is energy efficiency in industry, (including heat pumps), and I’d be happy to discuss technologies and whether they can be implemented in boating life.

I am so enjoying your videos. I was fortunate to visit the UK in 2017, I wish I'd known about narrow boats and the canal system then. I would have looked into a hire for a short cruise. I am enjoying the fauna and flora, the villages and the history, not to mention your artistic abilities. One small thing I look forward to is seeing what you put on your plate towards the end. I have not seen those cone shaped models before, something different on this day.

It's nice to hear that to share your journey is still your goal after all the years you've been doing it. I guess it's that goal that drives you when you have so many comments to reply to, parcels to post, emails to answer etc.
I have a friend that's a teacher and she's often saying how difficult her job is these days. When I asked her why she continued doing it and why she wanted to be a teacher in the first place, her answer was that she wanted to make a difference. I think you are doing that. You are opening our eyes to the wonder of nature.

Hello. I find your videos help me to relax. Much needed. I was wondering, are you a vegan? Ethical or just diet? You care so much. Just curious 🤔

I’m so pleased that you like my vlogs. I was a vegan for several years until the winter of this year when I realised that my asthma was really deteriorating. I had to go on stronger medication but still I was breathless and struggling to walk without needing my blue inhaler. I started to introduce some dairy in to my diet again like organic, free range eggs and some organic cheese but not dairy milk and I started to eat ethically sourced sardines once a week or every two weeks. Suddenly, I felt so much better! I will never eat meat again and I may go back to veganism again but only if it doesn’t impact on my health. It hasn’t cured my asthma but I am not having asthma attacks anymore. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care🌻🦋

Funny thing. When I became an ethical vegan 25years ago, i was already a vegetarian, so I just stopped the dairy.
My asthma went and my cholesterol went down.
I must look up and see what's in sardines.

Denise, you can draw; I promise you. I have practised hard to try and improve my drawings. If you look back at my old videos, you will see that I was not very good at all. I am not a natural artist- I just work at it. Try and build in an hour a week, where you sit and sketch; pour yourself a cup of tea and enjoy it.Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
