Number 1 hit for Ray and got him a grammy in '71.
My favorite Ray Stevens, and Harri, you might be the first to react to this great song!!!!❤
Others have but always love it when someone does.
@@DoctorVell I guess,I should've said is, all the reactors I listen to haven't.......I AM glad others have tho
Its the “ WE ARE THE WORLD “ for those of us 60 and older.
As well as "I'd like to teach the world to sing".
Didn’t that come out in the 1980’s, people in their 60’s were only in their 20’s
Ray Stevens had many hits with serious songs, as well as funny songs. This song actually went to #1 on the Billboard charts and is actually Ray's biggest hit. If you would like to hear another serious song, check out his remake of "Misty" which was also a big hit for him. If you would like to hear another funny hit song from him, check out one called "Guitarzan." I can't believe no one has reacted to this one yet.
Oh, I love this song. It’s fantastic and has great memories attached, thank you Imadrummin and Harri.
My pleasure Cynthia.. 👍
One of the many "love and harmony" songs that graced the land and the airwaves in the late '60s/early '70s. I miss those songs and those times. If you want another funny one by Ray Stevens, try "Gitarzan" from 1969. It's a hilarious tune that hit the U.S. Top 10 that summer.
I believe this may be the most serious song by him in 70. Big hit!
Thank you for this one!!
Oops sorry not a comedy song!
Just beautiful!!
This could only exist in the 70 s when things were beautiful....
I wish people still felt like that in these times. There's to much hate in the world. I pray for all.
another great song by ray you would like is All my trials
Always loved this song
I remember when this came out. Yes, I'm that old. EVERYONE sang this song EVERYWHERE. And most people actually lived by it as well. It was the hippie era......
Well Harri, here is your gotcha moment for today...A very talented man 😜
I had forgotten how good this song is
Listen to Ray's version of *" MISTY "* and *" Turn Your Radio On "*
Ray Stevens has multiple facets, and all are a wonder to behold! A man of many talents. He has lasted over five decades and is still singing.
Amazing song! One that everyone needs to listen to!! ❤
I have always loved this one.
Laughing over grave 45s Nice 45s
Ray Stevens thanks bro
Imadrummin' pulled a fast one on you, great song, won him a Grammy.
😀 I did leave Harri a quick note this was the artist side of Ray. 👍
@@Imadrummin 👍
He won a Grammy for this. Well deserved. Such a nice man
I would love to see you react to Tom T. Hall singing "Old Dogs and Children and Watermelon Wine. I think you will like it.
Imadrummin great choice. Wasn't this a great surprise Harri?! What a wonderful song
My pleasure and thank you. 😀
Check out Mr. Businessman by Ray Stevens. It's another more serious side to him. For fun you should hear his Taylor Swift is stalking me.
Have you seen Ray Steven’s “Gitarzan”…I think it’s his best, you will be on the floor laughing.
And then there's The Streak
On Saturday night they need some excitement,
Jane gets right and the monkey gets tight,
And their voices unite, in the pale moon light,
And it sounds alright, yeah, it's dynamite,
I was in the audience at a taping of the Crook and Chase show when Ray did Guitarzan and the gorilla sat in my lap! May of 1995.
You just raised the frequency of the world by listening to this song!❤❤❤
Hearing "The Streak", one would never guess that he was capable of this. He had the perfect voice for a preacher. This was actually the first Ray Stevens record I'd ever heard, coming out when I was in 3rd grade. Listening to the radio on and off in those years, I'd missed all of his '60s novelty records.
I was so lucky to see Ray Stevens in 1971 at "Atlanta's Tops of the Pops" at the Atlanta Civic Center. He was from Atlanta, Georgia and we were proud of this fine artist! Check out his song "Mr. Businessman"! Thank you for playing this great song!!😊❤
I went to the same high school as Ray: Druid Hills.
@@academyofshem WOW!! Very cool!! Druid Hills had a great reputation as a good school. I am proud of the fine musicians who came out of Atlanta and "Papa" Bill Lowery nurturing their talents and "The Atlanta Sound"!
Ray is so well known for his comedic music many people don't know or remember his beautiful and serious music. Another good song is Misty.
Thank goodness you saw this before you put Ray Stevens in a box...what a lovely song and idea...just hope everyone can belive and live this idea .
Gosh I haven't heard this one in years. I had to smile a bit you said you were prepared to laugh Harri. Thank you and Imadrummin.
You're welcome Anne!!😀
Loved your reaction. Yeah, when you started out by saying you knew you'd be laughing I was thinking, "Just wait." Beautiful song beautifully song. Probably my favorite Ray Stevens song, though I certainly love his comedic pieces also!
Please react to "Juanita and the Kids" a very funny song by Ray Stevens! I think this is one of his funniest songs!
Yeah, this is as much a part of Ray Stevens as the humorous stuff. He's a great artist, and I remember this one well from back in the day. 👍
A huge hit when I was 13...on the radio constantly. A real Christian ethic unlike those claiming to be.
Thank you Ima for a beautifull song suggestion ❤
Was a bit confused cause Neil Sedakas voice kept ringing in my head 🧐
Ray Stephen wrote the song in 1970 and Neil Sedaka covered the song in 1974
I’m glad that I know the original 🤩🤩🤩
Loved Neil Sedaka too. Thanks for stopping in and my pleasure Agnete. 😀🤩👍
We used to sing this song at church when I was a kid.
This is great. The studio version is better I think. Yes, before he started pumping out comedy music, he offered up some beautiful tunes: UNWIND, MR BUSINESS MAN, MISTY . . . check them out!! Thanks for your reactions!
You got to listen to his song Misty!!! Another non comedy song of his!
This is a beautiful song and another one is Mr. businessman another great one😂😂
You need to listen to his version of "Misty" if you haven't! It's also not a comedy song, but it's great!
He had another "serious" song in 1968-"Unwind" that you should listen to. Thanks.
Also "Mr Business Man ."
I haven’t heard this song in years!!!! 😂
Ray Stevens wrote a brillianrt song for Sir Cliff Richard which Cliff only sang 'live' and featured on the album 'Help It Along'. It's called 'Mr Business Man'.😀
I love Ray Stevens version of Misty.
Though there is no video, just a static image while he sings, one of the most hilarious song in my opinion is The Bricklayer Song by Ray Stevens.
This was my favorite song when it was released in 1970. I was 9 years old. My other favorite was raindrops keep falling on my head by BJ Thomas.
Love it! GREAT classic
A laugh gets you through a moment, but a smile can be forever.
I saw Ray when he fronted for Tom Jones. Joan Rivers performed, too.
Haven't heard this in a long time. I was about 14 years old when this was a hit. How time flies. 🎶🎶🎶👍
Ray Stevens had a TV show in the late 60s. I was pretty young but I always enjoyed his music. This was always a favorite. It's different from most. My other favorite is his rendition of "Misty". He has a GREAT voice!!!
Great change of pace request Imadrummin! So many great songs came out of the 60's n early 70's; you've touched on another nearly forgotten gem. Thx Harri. Your reaction was beautiful, in its own way.
I agree JK. I wanted Harri to know Ray Stevens was more than a laugh, he was a true artist and entertainer both. Thanks for your nice comments my friend.👍
My favorite Ray Stevens song.
Another great reaction Harri. You also need to listen to Misty
My favorite Ray Steven's song has always been "Freddie Feelgood (And His Funky Little Five Piece Band)" It just always makes me laugh
Ray is nothing if not full of surprises, Enjpy the rabbit warren, For another straight song, try his cover of the classic song Misty
A little bit of church - I love it
This is one of those songs that instantly snaps me back in time to being six years old.
Don't judge a book by it's cover when you see a Ray Stephens song. Comedy - which he is very good at -- is his side gig. This man is a musician first and after this song rose to the top of the charts in the early 70's, a lot of people - including me - were surprised when he went in the direction of comedy albums and videos. Great song, selection and reaction -- thank you, Imadrummin and Harri!
He'd already been doing comedy songs for years along with songs like this.
Thanks for your great comment my brother. Spot on!!
He's been singing humor and novelty songs along with "straight" songs since the '50s. His novelty song Ahab the Arab reached #5 on the Billboard charts in 1961.
@@bengilbert7655 I didn't realize it was that early !! I remember / heard them all in the mid to late 60s.
@pncombies, the first Ray Stevens song I ever heard was his Ahab the Arab that came out in 1962. A good one for Harri to react to.
Ray is an American icon.
You just have to do guitarzan! Definitely funny!
This song was HUGE when I was a small boy of seven. It was all over the radio. There was a lot of racial tension going on when this was out, so it was a much needed message. Was wondering when someone was going to get you to do a reaction.
This was a big hit at the time, he's a very versatile proformer. I've always loved this song.
I was lucky enough to see Ray Stevens live back in December. He is an amazing musician and singer.
Ray Stevens covers a broad spectrum of music. Not just comedy. He does some gospel and also covers the standards. He also did a whole album of Frank Sinatra songs.
Since 4th of July is coming up, you might look up some of his patriotic songs.
My favorite Ray Stevens song. I've loved it ever since I first heard it as a child when it came out. Great song, Greater message
I loved it when he first sang it and still do even til the end of time.
Wish you could see him perform!
Just shows the heart of Ray Stevens. The man truly did his part in cheering us up.
I remember singing this when it came out ( I was 5 years old). I really believed this entirely and proclaimed “I love everyone!!”.
Oh- the naivety, innocence and pureness of children. My family protected me so I could believe in this for a short while.
Everyone does have a beauty to them, but unfortunately the ugliness can come out and overtake the beauty.
Beautiful ❤❤
Love Ray Stevens...grew up listening to him, Funny AND Serious. When you started to play this one, I literally remembered all the words to it. And THIS is the message we had all the time growing up. It is one of the reasons we get so frustrated at the narrative the media & the government is trying to make the American public to believe, that everyone is racist. THIS message was the message everywhere when I was growing up in the US from the late 60's and onward. This was my reality. Thank you for bringing this one back to life for me! Loved it.
The man is legendary. 85 years old now. Still coming up with songs. I like the one he did about 10 years or so ago. "Grandpa Voted Democrat". You don't want to go there on this channel though. 😂😂
I suggested this as an additional song to be used by the Harris/Walz campaign.
Gosh, it would be a great addition…I actually thought of this song watching some of the videos…..
Love this song ❤😊❤
My favorite of his as well! It was his daughter's second grade class that sang the children's chorus parts. I believe this video is from the later 80's video era.
was reading today Ray is on his retirement tour this year
I hope it's like the Eagles, who have been on their farewell tour since the mid 80's
for all of his comedy records ray stevens had a great voice.
He was better known for his funny songs but he was a really good artist and singer as well
One of my favorites!
Another great classic song by Ray is Turn Your Radio On-a hit with another spiritual message-which may or may not have inspired the Manhattan Transfer song Operator which was a hit in 1975.
You should listen to Ray Stevens sing Misty then. It's a love song.
This came out when i was 13. And the Vietnam War was raging...it always makes me cry
Ray Stevens is a country & pop singer-songwriter & comedian mostly known for his novelty hits such as "Gitarzan", "Ahab The Arab", "Along Came Jones", "The Streak" and others. But he also did a few serious songs such as "Misty" & "Everything Is Beautiful" which he won a Grammy for in 1970.
Before it even started! Prefer the original recording...STILL...CLICK CLICK CLICK THUMBS UP!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ray has a respectable cover of Roy Orbison's hit song, "Crying" too... He may not have Roy's Range, but Ray can still do the song justice...
Jim Stafford is the same way. He has a lot of comedic songs, but can sing and play that guitar. 🎸
You should really hear his version of Let It Be.
Check out Misty and The Shriners Convention by Ray Stevens.
Try his version of Misty.
Thanks for checking out my song!
It's a classic
it was great in the 70s- they need to bring it back- people need something to stop the hate, the last year been really messed up,remember this is the "United" States of America. (Ray threw ya a curve ball, with this one, huh? Lol )
I prefer the original version... He was much younger when this song came out.
I must say however, the studio version is better, IMO
yes
I have this from when it came out on a 45 RPM. What a treasure.❤
Try Guitarzan video version
I never knew that Ray Stevens made "Everything Is Beautiful".
I'll never forget this song, Harri.
❤
