When looking at the family tree itself, the Stuart dynasty in England was quite short, despite lasting over 100 years (though the Tudors were even more impressive, spanning 118 years in History with merely 3 generations)

I mean to be fair most British dynasties coming after haven’t reigned for that long. The House of Hanover made it about 187, the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha made it about 122 (I’m counting the House of Windsor) and the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg hasn’t even made it a year yet (that’s the family that Charles III is paternally descended from)

@@Edmonton-of2eccharles III is considered a member of his mother’s dynasty, and Windsor is still the same house as Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. In reality, the U.K. has had the same royal dynasty since 1901 when Edward VII took the throne. Still not as long as the Hanovers, but 122 years and 5 generations isn’t bad

@@emilybarclay8831 No, he isn’t. Cause that’s not European dynasties work. Proven by the fact that Elizabeth had to specifically declare her progeny would bear the name Windsor, not it just happening automatically. Charles is effectively the head of a second House of Windsor, descended in the agnatic like from the House of Glücksburg, not the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

Queen Anne will always be such a fascinating figure from history. So much focus on the negative that made her look bad which showed very clear misogyny and sexism on how women are viewed by society and history and always overlooked her actual queen qualities. She was a fantastic strategic military leader and fought off many foreign invasions during her reign, she was economically smart and she was the one that finally united the UK. She was a very good queen but sadly history paints her as fat, ugly, lesbian, belittled by the men around her and a person with multiple awful illnesses. Justice for Queen Anne. Let's change her narrative please.

@@LindsayHoliday that will be brilliant. I watched a factual history programme about her not too long ago by one of my fave historians Dr Lucy Worsley and it really shone new light onto Queen Anne and told her story from different perspectives. The focus with Queen Anne is almost always on her female favourites and her being Britain's first quote on quote "lesbian queen" and also on her being fat, old and too sickly and ill to rule and being dominated and walked all over by the men in government but while those are some parts of her story it's not her whole story and she was actually a very good queen. And don't get me wrong I am fundamentally anti monarchist in every way but I just hate seeing like one specific narrative being told about a woman from history especially if that one story that is always the one told paints her in a negative light. Like she was a whole person. Tell her whole story. Don't just focus on the scandals and the flaws. Shine alight on her highlights. She fought off several foreign invasions because she was actually an incredibly strategic military leader, she was intellectually smart as well and economically smart and handled the financial situation of the country brilliantly and she was the one who finally united Scotland and England together to make Great Britain showing that she was very diplomatic and astute.

Fun fact! The KJV Bible was NOT the first to be translated in English. Before this was the Geneva Bible (and the Matthew Bible before that). James HATED these first translations, as they insulted rich people. So for the KJV, he told the publishers to deliberately change the insulting passages about rich people and kings. The KJV was massively unpopular with the people, and although James tried to ban the Geneva Bible, publishers continued to publish them in secret.

22:25 I’m confused why this is controversial. If the crowns ceased to be united, there would be no more legal connection between England and Scotland. Thus it would be natural that Scottish subjects would be treated as foreigners in England, just as English subjects would be foreign in Scotland
Anyway, on to conspiracy. 95% sure that Elizabeth II deliberately chose to pass away in Scotland. Balmoral was one of her favorite homes, and it allowed for a good degree of royal pomp and pageantry to take place in Scotland as opposed to all of it happening in London.

Henry Vlll was the heir to Henry Vll, who had 3 children : Henry VIIl, Margaret, who married the King of Scotland, and Mary who married the King of France and Charles Brandon.
Mary and Elizabeth became Queens after their brother died because they were daughters of Henry Vlll.

Wouldnt you be on a trip with loads of people you know you have ripped off? for 3950 you could travel to the majority of the countries in Europe, as I have done, I have never spent more than £400 pounds on a destination. In fact for that price you could go on an all expenses paid cruise round the whole of europe and north Africa
