Oda does so well with his "inbetween arc" episodes that drop lore or have conflict outside of our group, just shows how large the world is. Whitebeard meeting with Shanks is a fantastic milestone episode.
If you remember, Buggy did say he met Whitebeard in the past. When he was telling his crew not to lay a finger on Ace.
I love the booze exchange, whitebeard is probably right that in quality it isn't necessarily great, but then shanks say its from his hometown, because they don't have access to the westblue easily its pretty much shanks most precious liquor, whitebeard accepts that and taste becomes irrelevant

hmmmm not nnecessarily i will not say anything cuz idk where you at with one piece but in the anime you will meet someone VERY strong and higher than a yonkoo wihtout devil fruit. (im talking anime and not manga since i dont read it) i think shanks is very strong obviously but he is very influencial

Buggy mentions he and Shanks were apprentices on the same ship near the start of the series but they never mentioned it was Roger's ship until now

This remains my favorite epic party of the series, it's just... I love so much how Oda will tie our emotions into knots, but always makes it worth it and gives us these breaks and moments of just, pure fun to recover.
Also, how damn good he is at finding clever ways to name his characters. We have Whitebeard, Edward Newgate; and Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teach. Then you have the IRL pirate Blackbeard, Edward Teach. On top of that, there are some sources that state his name as Thatch, not Teach, and who was the guy that Blackbeard killed in the story to get Ace looking for him? A fellow pirate named Thatch.

I don't think you missed anything regarding Shanks and Buggy being cremates of Roger. If I remember correctly we knew the two were cremates but not what ship they were on.

At the orange town arc buggy did said he was in the past in the crew of gold d. Roger together with shanks. And still gives shanks the fault of him eat that devil fruit and losing the treasure map we saw in buggy's flashback
