Hey all, just want to pop in here to say thank you for all the love and kind comments ♡ I know many of you come here for carefree vanlife content, but when editing this footage l found myself stuck in the space of ‘what do I actually want to create’ vs ‘what will people want to see.’ It’s scary putting the vulnerable stuff out there, but sometimes it just feels right. And if it happens to resonate with even just one of you, then it was worth bringing to life. Anyway, all that to say - I’m so incredibly grateful for this community and the space to share this journey with you ♡ ps my current footage is a whole different mood. Chipmunks may be involved 🐿
The thoughts and imagery you shared are congruent with what I experience day to day living in the city, so it isn't just vanlife. What resonates for me from your video is a feeling of sadness and loneliness, even though ironically I have many friends. Thank you for sharing.
You pretty much blow vulnerable out of existence. Too profound to explain? The way out is in. Are you working on your book yet? CS On the Road to Living Free. Taking responsibility for your own life outcomes is a fundamental step to being free. Nice job, if one can get it.
Ugh, I bawled at the 37 yr old talking to her 17 year old self part. 😭 The road has taught me to notice rather to search; to appreciate rather than to analyze; to accept that I’m on a journey to nowhere and everywhere all at once. ~ Christian Schaffer
So many who live the van life think they are showing us the world, but in fact, their videos are about themselves. But you show us the world. Your photography and videos are wonderful - you capture where you are like no one else I've seen. Thank you for taking me places I may never go and showing them to me in a way I would never see.
I wholeheartedly agree with this observation of the imagery and narrative. Thanks to Christian for being vulnerable - it’s risky to make that choice but that “leap” can produce authentic inspiration for others who want to embark on this kind of journey but are apprehensive, questioning authenticity of the journey. Being raw and real is the courageous way to go and it can bless others with courage as well.
I absolutely LOOK FORWARD to her videos because they are so beautiful! She is an artist and her camera eye is fantastic. I watch her videos several times because the first few times is to just take in the view! Then her words come and I think Whoa! This is a beautiful, vulnerable, powerful human!
Yep. As viewer I'm more interested in exploring the vanlifer's feelings, thoughts, reflection, struggles, problems, solutions, perspectives, etc. The nice views are a nice touch but secondary.
"The moon knows what it's like to be human". This video struck a sacred chord. You're an inspiration Christian. Thank you for the time you put into this, the quality of your work is second to none.
The moon is the lover of the wolf in Native American lore. That is why wolves howl at the moon. I forget the actual name of the story but I think the Coyote trickster is involved.
Christian---The quality of your videos is like none other. Quality>Quantity. You're beautiful, your art is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us. Hope you're well out on the road.
I love the cinematography of this! The angles, color grading, cuts, and music overlays are so professional it is like a movie. You did an amazing job! ❤
Also on a solo journey and still trying (at 68) to figure out what life is about, trying to enjoy the moment. You’re artistry and story telling continues to inspire. Thanks ☮️
From one solo traveler to another. I appreciated this introspective video and how you allow the scenery to do most of the communicating along with the perfect “mood” music. Beautiful job. Many just chatter way too much. Your photography is gorgeous. In a world that is going mad there is still sooo much to be grateful for. Thx for the video.
Happy Birthday, Christian. I loved this video and the “alone” theme: “I’m on a journey to nowhere and everywhere all at once.” I turned 57 in April. Keep on enjoying your 30s and the journey, and remember, age is just a number, and life in general, is a life-long journey.
" Loneliness adds beauty to life, it puts a special burn on sunsets and makes night air smell better." - Henry Rollins. This was another great journey, thank you and happy birthday🙏🏻❤.
‘Happiness is an inside job … The road has taught me to notice rather than to search, to appreciate rather than to analyze, to accept that I’m on a journey to nowhere and everywhere all at once.” This is my takeaway from my many meditations and self reflections. Happy birthday and godspeed
Once again, thank you for being this complex, free spirit. I will never live your life, but the journey through your eyes is calming and inspiring at the same time. You are never really alone. 200K live vicariously through your lens and voice. Thank you!
Christian....you are so talented! I'm 61 and 364 days ago I hit the road with you, Alyssa and Mariah as my mentors from afar. Im old enough to be your dad but you have taught me so much about "me". Your journey and life has reached countless people that you don't even know. You taught us to see the journey and not look for the destination. I will forever be grateful for you, Alyssa and Mariah. I'm glad you three are friends and I'm glad I found you all. You helped me find "me"! I wish you your heart's dream Christian. You are an amazing woman and I so admire you.
Spectacular as well as thought-provoking, encouraging and courageous... thank you Christian for sharing - your art work is breathtaking. Marvelous cloud formations and color ... totally glad to see some epic shots of the moons characteristics + eclipse🤓 and... The 17 year old you would have loved the 37 year old you...no doubt about it. Sometimes inner peace does actually surpass comprehension and remains without defined boundaries. White sage punk with your dancing...
Beautiful words, beautiful pictures! I have traveled those same roads and now 72yo birthday. You came to a fork in the road and took it, you do not look back in frustration but to see from where you came, the road ahead will always be an endless destination of learning and living. God has blessed you, know that. Thanks for sharing!
This my first video of yours...and WOW. Way more than I expected. A very nice surprise and well put together. And probably just helped me figure some stuff out in my own life. Thank you.
Beautifully produced and narrated. We know VanLife is frequently rough, and we don't have the gutts to do it ourselves yet. This conveys your strength in your realization that Happiness Is an Inside Job. You put in solid work on the road and showed us why the juice is worth the squeeze, but we need to be centered first.
nowhere, and everywhere. ...that is concise and well-articulated. happy 37th - i turned 43 around the same time, and i am finding that my eyes are open wider the older i get. and i am filled with awe, more than anything else. thank you for these videos - they are honest, pure, kind, and... leave me with said sense of awe. and inspiration.
Oh my goodness, Christian! That was so good! You're not a UA-camr, but truly a visual artist. The words you speak are well chosen and convey a solid message. Thank you and happy birthday! I retire this summer and just obtained a Sprinter RV. My lovely wife of 36 years and I look forward to experiencing many of the lonely places and experiences that you have shared with us. Well done (again) and keep on keeping' on!
I don't normally comment on UA-cam but this was just such a breath of fresh air and really resonated with me at this point in my life. Absolutely stunningly shot, and brave of you to share such personal thoughts. You have enormous talent, thank you for sharing such a beautiful video in so many ways.
Awe... so much God’s beautiful creations! He is an Amazing God, Who created such a wonderful world. I’m enjoying your videos with an inspiring places to go to. Thank you! :) You’re loved by God! ♥️
This has to be one of my favorite van life videos. The way you capture the moon is beautiful, the music you chose, the scenery you filmed ❤️ I’m probably going to watch it like 10 times lol you did an amazing job!!
I don't know how you do it Christian. Some how capture the beauty, yet the rawness of this lifestyle you live. I am always left with awe, inspiration, and this sense of creativity. I can only HOPE to create videos like this one day.
Loads of nuggets in this one. Best of all was the dancing silhouette. The "notice" over "search" mode was a beautiful zinger. Wishing you the vanlife equivalent of "may the wind be in your face and a following sea."
@@ChristianSchaffer So Picasso was sitting alone at a table doodling on a napkin....a man walked by, saw the beautiful sketch and asked The Master, "How long did it take you to sketch that artwork?" Picasso answered , "about 70 years!"
To be honest, Christian, your loneliness made that video so powerful - a study in solitude. Even the dogs just heightened the sense of isolation. Such a beautiful mood piece. Out there in the darkness, out there in the night time, out there in the starlight, a soul can burn brighter than a thousand suns.
I‘ve been watching some of your early videos, and I loved them, but wow… these more recent ones are unbelievable. It’s funny, but the more personal you get, the more you inspire me. Happy belated birthday ❤️ On another note, the red earth reminds me so much of Sardinia. But not the snow!
There is a scene in the Ghibli animation, “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, where the protagonist Kiki inexplicably loses her magic powers, just as she is going through the doldrums. Her painter friend, who lives alone in the woods, invites Kiki to her cabin, and together they talk about life, ambitions, and creating things. What Kiki’s painter friend tells Kiki about sometimes letting go and not trying to get somewhere or achieving something, has stuck with me to this day, 30 years after I watched the film. Even at 61, I feel that I always have more to learn about my place in the world, and what really matters about living. I’m going through cancer recovery right now, after 5 months of grueling treatment, and lots of loss of confidence in my ability to live as freely as I have most of life. Now I’m building back the small stepping stones to the open road. Thank you, Christian, for the many beautiful videos you’ve made, and your honesty about your life.
Happy birthday Christian! Just wow.... Everything about this edit is perfect. Definitely create what YOU want to create and show. The content that comes from Your heart is most beautiful. You are very talented artist Christian. Wish You all the best and thank you for sharing the journey. 👌
Recently I took a trip to the Pacific North West, I drove along the coast of Oregon and saw many Class B Rvs. Started researching RVs. That's how I found your channel. Your content is captivating - the views, the music, your story -- soon I forgot why I was looking at RVs in the first place, that's amazing. Good luck, stay creative, and thank you.
You have acquired a lot of wisdom in those 37 young years. And the company "Moon" should be paying you Super Bowl money for that add. That final shot of the moon and your van was awesome!
Happy birthday Christian, to all the experiences you've had and all the adventures ahead! I'm nearing one year on the road and turned 27 this year. I'll continue too, for years, living from a vehicle and learning and reflecting from the solitude of the road. Here's to the future!
Christian, you are never alone. We are all with you and most of all, the Lord dwells with you. Stay strong & beautiful. Thanks for all the awesome videos and keep living the dream.
I was watching a movie and the person in the movie said “alone” right as I got the notification for this video and I just really needed to say that, I’ll be back to watch after this movie haha
wow, that shot with the open van, lit inside, under the crescent moon with a starlight background -- incredible! Suggest you enlarge that shot and hang on the wall of your future home, Inspirational, thought provoking, and holder of fulfilled dreams.
Magic is so synchronous ....finding such a gem in the mayhem, a clear uncluttered beautifully expressed captured layered nuanced work. I am so grateful.
I feel a deep sense of purpose in loving my employees well and seeing my clients flourish. And yet I sense my life is moving towards this plane of solitude and unknown, wild spaces of discovery. So keep showing us how it's done while I do what needs to be done for now.
Absolutely stunning video, the best videographer hands down!!!! You get across to your viewers how easy going life is, all the little things people take for granted, and just how beautiful our planet really is. Sometimes being alone in your own thoughts a presence is exactly what someone needs to kickstart the next journey of their lives. Keep up the amazing work, we all love watching you and what your next adventure brings. ❤❤
Happy belated birthday Christian. Your videography and depth of commentary are getting to another level. It is at the same time, art, simplicity and poetry. Keep the magic going, I am sure you touch many souls even when there is no soul around:)
I have no desire to do what you do, but I am so drawn to your channel with your visuals and calming voice. Love it. I am a teacher who is chill in the summer right now but in 1 month back to school and will need this channel!
The idea of a nomadic life style was so appealing to me 25 years ago before UA-cam, and DSLR cameras. I use to spend the entire summer living in a large tent at a campground I use to work at. If I hadn't met a wonderful woman who modernized me, I could see myself doing something very similar to this focusing around my wildlife photography. Your cinematic abilities are impeccable. Your on camera presents is flawless as well.
You’re an og roadlifer 🙌🏻🍻 honestly thanks for paving the way for all us current roadlifers. I’m not sure I would have ever taken the leap into this lifestyle if not for those who had shown what was possible
Every single video is better then the last one. Every time. You have the best videos inside the van community. I can feel every single word you say. Is just something amazing. Thank you for all the work you put in making your videos, they’re very special.
Christian, your videos are always so thought-provoking and beautiful. At 83 all my adventures are through you, and others like you. Thank you thank you thank you.
“I felt what I needed to feel, and did my best to avoid distraction.” Hence, the grounded young woman we have come to know. - The moon shots were magnificent. And finally, Happy belated Birthday.
I always enjoy your videos. They are like a delicious 7 course meal with all the trimmings. Never do they disappoint. No, not even once. Corporate life in no way comes close to the life you've built and enjoy. Corporate life is all about getting to the top no matter who or where you need to step on others to get there. From what I've seen, that's just not you. We like you as you are, happy and experiencing life and its adventures.
That was absolutely beautiful. I’m planning out my transition to van life. After finding out my husband “just can’t be married” your title Alone caught my attention. Thank you for the beautiful video!!
I revisited this video today since your latest video was talking about this. This is such a profound treatment of loneliness. I was reminded of the part where you said “ i felt whatever it was I needed to feel.” I also liked when you said “its always there knowing us at our dark and low moments.” Being alone does that to you because you cant hide from yourself. Such a cool video. I love the cake you made yourself towards the end. I think I am going to go do that now. 🎉
Fantastic. Especially loved your summary at the end about what the road has taught you. A lot of wisdom in that for us all, for in many ways we are all on our own roads. Thank you.
haha i am starting to think i need another tripod + camera - so I can still film myself while actually getting the shot. documenting the documentation..or something like that 🙃
Très très beau ! ''Notice rather than to search & appreciate rather than to analyze'' ! I will tell my mind to remember this, thanks for this pure moment of poetry !
Hi Christian, i came across your channel a few days ago while looking for people sharing their alternative living experiences. Since then i have been drawn to the raw, simple and beautifully authentic way you share your experince of the world - the highs and the lows. It resonates with me as i'm sure it does with many. Thank you. 🙂👍
What a profound video, thank you for sharing your feelings. Happy Birthday and many beautiful moments in your new year. I hope that the sadness that could be felt between the lines does not weigh you down. Remember, we are never truly alone. Our spirit guides and beloved souls accompany and guide us in every breath. Best wishes from Germany.
Hey Christian. Your ‘perfect carefree’ lifestyle, your beauty, your exquisite art represent the ideal a lot of us are striving for. Your skilful ability to bring the beautiful surroundings to us with your video channel enables us to experience a small piece on that perfect world, and inspires us in our miserable holes we live in around the world. Thank you for being our super star that we all aspire to be and look up to. We all ❤️ u.
Happy Birthday, Christian. Life just keeps getting better the older you get when you stay open, healthy and happy. At 53 I'm happier and healthier than I've ever been. Have fun. You're great.
wow...this could be your best film ever. Just impeccably shot and dreamy. Love the ethereal vibes and vulnerability. An absolute gem of a human being you are. So inspired right now. You're just beginning your cinematic poetry.
your contribution to the experience is appreciated... every moment leading up to now has been a success because you're here now. an inverted mirror image ... INSIDE-OUT and BACKWARDS thank you
This is probably my favorite video that I've seen of yours! Keep on searching/noticing/being! I know it's cliche but I think about this quote from time to time- "not all those who wonder are lost"
there is always a certain melancholic undertone to your videos. Although I like watching it, I have to say that they mostly it makes me kind of sad. You are talented, beautiful, genuine, sweet and like most of us lonely - I wish you the best and for you to find your next step, The new life ater the Van. stay in peace
Your videos/photography, are magnificent. You capture the most important things in life, and back it w/ your extordinary life experiences - truly remarkable! You are living life to the fullest! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Amazing by your talent, honesty, integrity, vulnerability, and humility. Keep living the dream! I'm working to get this level of freedom! "Living in your car as a self-employed artist" is no need to burst into tears. That's practical!!! I've lived in my car, and I was also self-employed as a graphic designer. I liked that lifestyle much better and I think you are AHEAD of most people. My friends admired how much money I was able to save. Convention is not always practical it's just what people who don't think outside the box are afraid to understand. Living in the car provides more freedom that I don't have now that I have a place---in addition I save less money, significantly less. Good luck to you, never stop!!!! You have a talent that is like the lottery. Takes so many things to align that you are gifted to have which is why you are at this level :) Enjoy them

Just wow.... Everything about this edit is perfect. Definitely create what YOU want to create and show. The content that comes from Your heart is most beautiful. You are very talented artist Christian.
Wish You all the best and thank you for sharing the journey. 👌
thank you Lukav 🙏🏻
Recently I took a trip to the Pacific North West, I drove along the coast of Oregon and saw many Class B Rvs. Started researching RVs. That's how I found your channel. Your content is captivating - the views, the music, your story -- soon I forgot why I was looking at RVs in the first place, that's amazing. Good luck, stay creative, and thank you.
Happy you stopped by this little corner of the internet 🥲🙏🏻
Happy birthday! I very much enjoyed your use of music in this one. Your shots are always amazing as well! I hope you’re genuinely happy.
I love to see you dance and I just love the fact that you are still in touch with your 17 year old self. I really appreciate your life stories!
Love love love! This was incredibly beautiful and authentic. So appreciate you sharing this with all of us!
A guy on the road would never get so many subscribers and views and thumbs up. These females make bank selling their looks.
thank you ❤️ happy one year anniversary 🥂
Christian, you are never alone. We are all with you and most of all, the Lord dwells with you. Stay strong & beautiful. Thanks for all the awesome videos and keep living the dream.
I was watching a movie and the person in the movie said “alone” right as I got the notification for this video and I just really needed to say that, I’ll be back to watch after this movie haha
little moments like that are the best 🤍
wow, that shot with the open van, lit inside, under the crescent moon with a starlight background -- incredible! Suggest you enlarge that shot and hang on the wall of your future home, Inspirational, thought provoking, and holder of fulfilled dreams.
High desert is a mind cleanse !
indeed
@@ChristianSchaffer thank you so much ❤️ 😊
Magic is so synchronous ....finding such a gem in the mayhem, a clear uncluttered beautifully expressed captured layered nuanced work.
I am so grateful.
thank you for watching 🥲🙏🏻
This was sooo good Christian, def hit home for me…and Happy Belated!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your ability to tell a story visually is amazing. A gift
🥲🙏🏻
I really appreciate you saying that 🥲
I have no desire to do what you do, but I am so drawn to your channel with your visuals and calming voice.
One of your best one’s yet! The landscapes, the background music, and of course the message were all incredibly moving!
thank you 🙏🏻
Christian, your videos are always so thought-provoking and beautiful. At 83 all my adventures are through you, and others like you. Thank you thank you thank you.
Love your videos! It's so inspiring seeing you living by your own terms! I'm personally trying to get there myself.
❤️
thanks Daniel 🙏🏻
You don’t know how much you inspire me. Soon I’ll hitting the road. Thank you so much.
“I felt what I needed to feel, and did my best to avoid distraction.” Hence, the grounded young woman we have come to know. - The moon shots were magnificent. And finally, Happy belated Birthday.
Everyone is grounded.
But not everyone flies.
I don’t see anyone here flying
@@PetraKann Lol. Sounds depressing.. Haha. Sorrry.
It hits me that way. 😂🍻
Edit: Anyone who has Ever taken a chance.. has done some flying. ❤
@@bubblerings Love is the only thing worth taking a chance on. And it requires the most courage and yielding.....

@@PetraKann yes.. So why do u say nobody is flying?
I always enjoy your videos. They are like a delicious 7 course meal with all the trimmings. Never do they disappoint. No, not even once. Corporate life in no way comes close to the life you've built and enjoy. Corporate life is all about getting to the top no matter who or where you need to step on others to get there. From what I've seen, that's just not you. We like you as you are, happy and experiencing life and its adventures.
That was absolutely beautiful. I’m planning out my transition to van life. After finding out my husband “just can’t be married” your title Alone caught my attention. Thank you for the beautiful video!!
Your "Pastels of Life" are incredible. Keep doing what you do. Love your world. Keep safe, God Bless.
Gosh, almost had me tearing up in the laundromat with this one. Such a beautiful video.
🥹🙏🏻
I revisited this video today since your latest video was talking about this. This is such a profound treatment of loneliness.
I was reminded of the part where you said “ i felt whatever it was I needed to feel.” I also liked when you said “its always there knowing us at our dark and low moments.”
Being alone does that to you because you cant hide from yourself. Such a cool video.
I love the cake you made yourself towards the end. I think I am going to go do that now. 🎉
Fantastic. Especially loved your summary at the end about what the road has taught you. A lot of wisdom in that for us all, for in many ways we are all on our own roads. Thank you.
Ohhhhhh! The shots of the moon in all of its glory are breathtaking!🌜🕊❤️🌛
There's nothing quite like the Christian Tripod shot... dang I need to incorporate more of those
haha i am starting to think i need another tripod + camera - so I can still film myself while actually getting the shot. documenting the documentation..or something like that 🙃
@@ChristianSchaffer Very meta. ;-)
Très très beau ! ''Notice rather than to search & appreciate rather than to analyze'' ! I will tell my mind to remember this, thanks for this pure moment of poetry !
Christian, you have inspired me to be more adventurous, more curious, and most of all more present. Thank you for that. Belated Happy Birthday ❤️🎂🎊🎉
That makes me so happy 🥹❤️
Thank you 🙏🏻 I think sadness is just part of the human experience. I do my best to embrace it, and understand what it is trying to tell me ❤️
Hey Christian.
Boy, Moon sure got their money's worth! Great job! 👍
It wasn’t even planned 😅 just meant to be I guess
Happy Birthday, Christian. Life just keeps getting better the older you get when you stay open, healthy and happy. At 53 I'm happier and healthier than I've ever been. Have fun. You're great.
love hearing that ☺️
You've got to be kidding. 37? You don't look a day over 21!
This life must be very good for you!
ah well, I’d be keen on looking 67 too. aging is a beautiful thing ❤️
wow...this could be your best film ever. Just impeccably shot and dreamy. Love the ethereal vibes and vulnerability. An absolute gem of a human being you are. So inspired right now. You're just beginning your cinematic poetry.
My wife and I enjoy your work. This is your best.
your contribution to the experience is appreciated...
every moment leading up to now has been a success because you're here now.
an inverted mirror image ... INSIDE-OUT and BACKWARDS
thank you
🙏🏻🙏🏻
The beauty you capture is enough to bring tears to my eyes.
thanks for watching 🥲
This is probably my favorite video that I've seen of yours! Keep on searching/noticing/being! I know it's cliche but I think about this quote from time to time- "not all those who wonder are lost"
Happy birthday Christian. You are not alone. You have 190000+ companions who are there every step you take along your incredible journey.
I appreciate you 🥲
there is always a certain melancholic undertone to your videos. Although I like watching it, I have to say that they mostly it makes me kind of sad.
You are talented, beautiful, genuine, sweet and like most of us lonely - I wish you the best and for you to find your next step, The new life ater the Van.
stay in peace
Why isn't there more women like you out in this world! Beautiful person, beautiful videos! Thank you! It's fun having you in Utah!
Your videos/photography, are magnificent. You capture the most important things in life, and back it w/ your extordinary life experiences - truly remarkable! You are living life to the fullest! Thank you for sharing it with us!
"Happiness is an inside job." Brilliant. Made my night.
Your's are the only videos on UA-cam that I want to view more than once. You are an inspiring philosopher, even to this old man!
Takes so many things to align that you are gifted to have which is why you are at this level :) Enjoy them
A true masterpiece from beginning to end. Amazingly healing and beautiful show. Thank you for sharing Christian best I’ve ever seen.
